...The Toshiba Satellite L500 is the same as most other toshiba laptops. It looks stylish and can do all the basic functions that you would want for a laptop. However, when you use it, you dont feel very comfortable because it feels very cheap. The keyboard is very flimsy and feels like it is about to break every time you type something and the mouse pad and buttons do not respond well. However, the number pad on the right hand side of the keyboard is great as it makes it so easy to type numbers. You can buy this laptop with a range of processors and sizes of harddrive so you can choose the one which suits you best. The display is actually very good but the battery life could have been improved. On my model it will last for a maximum of 2.5 hours on its lowest power setting. ...My company's Laptop is Toshiba M40X. I have been used this for 3 years. I am a software engineer so computer is very important to me. This Laptop is very convenient for me. Speed is very high. I can install many kinds of tools in my laptop.They worked well without any problem. My Laptop is quite good. Hardware has been working well without any serious problem. I had only to replace a LCD cable during almost 3 years.It's rather enduring. Advantages: 1)Very bright display 2) Screen is large so 3 people can watch movies together 3) Play CD and DVD together 4) 4 USB Ports --> convenient for software developers 5) Speed is high Disadvatages: 1) DVD speed is slow 2) It is quite heavy ( nearly 3 kg) I am sastified with this device. Advantages: HDMI Port, Quite, Cheap for 17" Laptop
Disadvantages: 2GB RAM, and HD-DVD Drive

There is a HD-DVD drive built in because Toshiba was a company responsible for creating these disks, but they did not take off and a Blu-Ray drive would have been a better option. But it still works in all the normal ways that a DVD-ROM driver would and plays all DVDs and CDs. There is a dual core processor located inside which helps to run the Vista operating system, but at times it is very slow. This is generally the case when there are multiple windows open. But saying this, it can handle most tasks very easily and quickly e.g. opening and using Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. The overall design of the laptop I would say is very good. With the addition of Harman/Lardon speakers it means that it has excellent sound quality when playing music, videos...

I was expecting a battered second hand Dell but what I have is way past any expectations. I have this gorgeous Toshiba whose capabilities totally outclass any needs I have. ...This review is for the Toshiba Satellite Pro m30 Harman Kardon styled laptop.I will not say what I paid as it was a special price and not generally available. I have had this laptop for approx. 9 months. I use this laptop mainly for wireless connection to the WWW from my lounge, I am writing this review on it now. The first things I look for in a laptop or a desktop come to that is how it interfaces with me rather than performance. This laptop is good. The screen is 15".4" and is superb except when outdoors in the sun but then that is to be expected. There is quite a lot of brightness control to suit most people. The characters are clear and crisp, it is not as good as a high quality CRT monitor but that is also to be expected.
