...The Toshiba Satellite L500 is the same as most other toshiba laptops. It looks stylish and can do all the basic functions that you would want for a laptop. However, when you use it, you dont feel very comfortable because it feels very cheap. The keyboard is very flimsy and feels like it is about to break every time you type something and the mouse pad and buttons do not respond well. However, the number pad on the right hand side of the keyboard is great as it makes it so easy to type numbers. You can buy this laptop with a range of processors and sizes of harddrive so you can choose the one which suits you best. The display is actually very good but the battery life could have been improved. On my model it will last for a maximum of 2.5 hours on its lowest power setting. ...i first bought a Toshiba around about 4 or 5 years ago, it was a toshiba tecra m3, it was a lovely laptop until i dropped it and broke it, i decided that i would replace it with another toshiba because of the previous good reliability i had got from the machine, i thing that attracted me to this laptop was firstly the fact it was an operating system upgrade for me and secondly the superior specifications, the only down side being that there is no integrated bluetooth and trusted security platform, i found that the offers that were available at the time of purchase were very reasonable and i feel i got great value for money, i also think that the designer of this laptop has taken very great care with the general look and feel of the laptop and have put a lot of thought into the hardware they have supplied and it holds pride of place...

...my laptop, the only thing I didn't appreciate was all the stickers over the inside (to the left of the mouse pad), there is a "Desiged for XP" sticker, and "Intel Inside" sticker, one "Bundled with MS OneNote 2003" and a final "Surround Sound" which personally I dont like (hense I removed the last two) I have recomended this laptop to other people who have been looking, Toshiba have many different spec's in the Satellite Pro models, and the final thing about this laptop, the name, "what laptop do you have?" There is nothing more I love saying then "a Satellite Pro"...

...I have owned a Toshiba Satelite Pro for over three years now and on the whole am very happy with the machine. There is however a caveat with my recommendation. The design boys at Toshiba made one glaring mistake by placing the cooling vent for the processor on the underside of the laptop. as a result the laptop will gets very hot, the fan is constantly working at near maximum and is noisy. Eventually, the machine will get too hot and close down. I note from a previous review that someone complains that his machine shuts down unexpectedly - I'm pretty sure that this is part of the cooling problem. Luckily the machine is smart enough to know when the heat is critical and will perform a 'hard shutdown'. Leaving the machine to make the decision however, WILL degrade the machine over time and cause reliability problems...

...The Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 laptop is ideal for entry level home users, and possibly students who have some time on their hands to sort stuff out. I wouldn't say it was suitable for the lower end of the business market, as Toshiba seem to be targeting with this product. I could be wrong however, maybe I was just unlucky! I have had mine for 8 months now, after previous satellite old faithful, which I had owned for about 7 years, gave up the ghost in the middle of a project, and I needed a cheap laptop quickly. ...that law legal. So the laptop, it's got plenty of positives and only a few negatives. And if you've read my other reviews, I like to get the negatives out of the way first. NEGATIVES I'll get straight to the point, the graphics card is seriously bad, there's no way around it. It's a new thing where your computers RAM is used to power some of the graphics, like video and pictures. However this won't work with high-end games like the Call of Duty series or Crysis. This however, isn't a laptop you'd buy if you were wanting one for gaming, so it's not a major draw back. Another bad point is the durability, which isn't great. The lid can be pushed in, revealing it is fairly hollow apart from the screen and its components. I thought this a bit stupid as Toshiba are just wasting money making more material, why not just make it thin and tight guys...
