Toss out this Toshiba
Review of Toshiba Satellite 1800-204 - C 1 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
funphobic2
Advantages: Compact, good hard drive space and processing speed
Disadvantages: Its durability, and has become out-dated
...I’ve never really been interested in laptops, I’m more of a desktop girl myself, but when moving to university 3 years ago and having to live in a studio flat, my desktop just took up too much space. So I needed a laptop. Unfortunately, I had spent a lot of my loan on clothes and holiday’s (as you do!) so I had to find something on the cheaper side. Luckily I know a little about computers and knew pretty much what I needed; something compact, but with good processing speed and a large hard drive. So I went about my laptop shopping….
***Why I chose Toshiba***
I popped into the Dixons in Watford and they had a couple of ex-display models on sale. I came across a Toshiba satellite 1800-204. I noticed a few people had a Toshiba Satellite notebook, and so it caught my eye immediately. It was made in 1999, and basic specs include...

My Toshiba Tecra M2 - Warming up to Progress
Review of Toshiba Tecra M2 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
BawBaw
Advantages: Light, versatile, packed with features
Disadvantages: It's still a laptop
...Let me make it perfectly clear right up front: I'm not overfond of laptops. They're relatively small, usually have rather fuzzy screens, come with small keyboards that make typing difficult, and have strange built-in mice that are nigh onto impossible to manipulate. Given my durthers, I'll take a full-sized PC any day.
Despite all these disclaimers, my purpose here to review the Toshiba Tecra M2 notebook, kindly purchased for me by my company to make me more efficient and productive. Now don't get me wrong. I appreciate the sentiments and the logic of the new laptop, even though I use it far less often than my more powerful, less portable desktop. But I have to admit, my Tecra M2 isn't as bad as I feared.
Talk about damning with faint praise! Perhaps I can improve a bit on that. There's one thing my Toshiba does remarkable...

Hello Tosh, got a Toshiba
Review of Toshiba External USB 2.0 Combo Drive by
skrg28
Advantages: Small, looks very cool
Disadvantages: Noe really, does what it says it does
...Toshiba External USB 2.0 Combo Drive
INTRO
Along with my recent office purchase of the R200 laptop and seeing as it was minus a CDROM I bought an external CD unit.
I originally made the mistake of buying the DVD ROM version and at £85 that was next to useless. So I returned that and got the Toshiba External USB2 Combo Drive. There are a few different ones out there, this one wrote CD's and read DVD's.
IMPRESSIONS
When you open the box up your greeted with what first looks like an MP3 player. Size wise its not much bigger than a CD. The finish of this one was brushed aluminium to match the R200 laptop.
Quality is easily very high, just like Toshiba's other offerings. If nothing else the Combo drive looks cool.
CONNECTION
The combo drive is connected up with a standard USB 2 cable. Not external power supplies are needed...

Toshiba A200-195
Review of Toshiba Satellite A200-195 - Core 2 Duo T5300 1.73 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
davidjp1990
Advantages: Great Sound, 2GB RAM, Quite Quick, 4 Hours Battery life, looks, Bright Widescreen, WiFi
Disadvantages: Weight...............that's it
...The Toshiba Satellite A200-195. I first saw this product on the comet website, as i was looking for my first laptop to use at home and at school, the price looked good for the specification of the laptop.
So what do you get for that price:
A Dual Core Processor that runs at 1.73 GHz (like having a 3.46 GHz pentium 4)
A huge 2GB of high performance RAM (667 mhz DDR2)
A decent 120GB hard drive
An integrated DVD-RW
A 15.4" Bright Widescreen
Excellent WiFi and wired Internet
An amazing up to 4 Hours battery life (I have only got upto 3:45 Hours, if you were to run linux you could get it upto 5 hours)
Windows Vista Home Premium
A very very good sound system
The main thing i was looking for was a good battery life. I had a choice of this Toshiba (4 Hours) , an Apple Macbook that cost twice as much (6 Hours), a Sony Vaio almost...

Pen drives
Review of Origin Storage Pen Drive USB-PD64 by
victorb
Advantages: Cheap, Compact, easy to use
Disadvantages: larger sizes become more cheaper all the time
...Tired of all of them floppy disk's, sick of burning loads of cd's all the time, well now theres a cheap and superfast method of storing large amounts of data onto something that fits on to your key ring. It is the pen drive.
I just recently bought the 64Mb version from memorx in Belfast, northern ireland for £22 odds compared to the same size in Pc world for arrounds £40 so i think i got a good deal.
When i got home i checked it out to see the sppeed of coping files to and from the pen drive, i copied 2 megabites in a few seconds, it works so fast because it works throught the USB port in your computer, usually located in teh front of your tower in most new computers.
There are a number of storage sizes to choose from (64mb to 1GB) with ranging prices. I just found a 128Mb on the net for £30 which i thought was quite good...

Best portable storage device available
Review of Sony Micro Vault USB Storage Media USB flash drive - 64 MB by
punk_nutta
Advantages: the size of the device (both the actual and storage space)
Disadvantages: None really
...I purchased a Micro Vault around 3 months ago so that I could transfer data between a numbers of different computers and have been very impressed with it. I have experienced no problems will saving files to the device and I use it on a day to day basis. I have found that it takes a little longer than usual to save and delete and this is outweighed with the pros of the device.
The Sony Micro Vault uses USB 2.0 and this particular model has a storage space of 64mb. I have found that this space is enough and I can transport all of the files that I would ever need on use one device. Granted, these files are only word documents.
Operating the device is so simple, just connect it via an USB port into the computer and you can access/save straight onto it as you would on your regular hard disk. It will come up as a portable device on its...

Toshiba F20 - Very Hard To 'GigaBEAT'
Review of Toshiba gigabeat MEG-F20 20 GB by
lavazza75
Advantages: User friendly, audio & visual quality, good size hard drive
Disadvantages: Touch pad is a little tricky to get used to at first
...I have been collecting cd's for about 8 years now, and when deciding to purchase an MP3 player, I took the decision very seriously. My first thought was to forget going down the i-pod route, simply because everyone else was 'raving' about it, and there had to be something on the market equally as good if not better. I was right! After comparing many reviews on various websites, and test-running in many electrical retailers, I finally bought the Toshiba Gigabeat F20. Large screen, great visual quality, excellent sound, easy to use - and most importantly.........Good size hard drive space.
After getting to grips with the software and using the 'gigabeat room' a couple of times, I found it quite user friendly, and in no time at all, I was scanning my own album covers to use when ripping. Navigating using the touch pad took a little...

A top performer.
Review of Toshiba Hard drive 500 GB by
thewhitewolf
Advantages: great design that saves space.
Disadvantages: none.
...Toshiba are a very good electronics company in general and have a great
reputation in the computer industry so it was with a certain amount of expectation that i tried out toshiba's offerings on the hard drive market and i certainly am not disappointed.
What I Look For
The criteria that i judge a hard drive by are speed or rate of transfer, hard drive seek time, capacity and general ease of use.
This can sometimes be joined by the aesthetic appeal of the hard drive in question.
Design
The Toshiba hard drive is a very attractive, slimline black and silver enclosured storage device that is a standalone product. It's slim and long and has a stable stand upon which it rests. I am impressed by the look and feel of the polished case and it certainly is lovelier than most hard drives on the market.
Performance

Toshiba A200 - 195
Review of Toshiba Satellite A200-195 Laptop by
JJS77
Advantages: Light, Fast, Looks nice, Reliable, Value.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have a built in webcam or Bluetooth connectivity.
...it on the laptop feels sturdy and safe and like it will last, which is reassuring as some of the other laptops felt like they would break if you opened it too quickly. I tested the weight of it in the shops and found that it was also lighter than most other laptops. The Toshiba A200 range was also quite a high performance laptop when I was using it. I managed to benchmark the laptops effectively by using the inbuilt feature inside Windows Vista, where it can show you a rating of how well your computer performance, a score out of 10. It is called a windows experience score and is quite comprehensive as it tests the performance of the processor, ram, video / graphics card, hard drive space, and can give a clear breakdown on where the computer is weakest. The Toshiba's consistently came out on top, the only laptops which came close was some of the Sony...

To Infinity and Beyond, Toshiba R200 Laptop
Review of Toshiba Portege R200 - Pentium M 753 1.2 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
skrg28
Advantages: Build Quality, Light, Small
Disadvantages: None as yet
...that to login. I found that it seemed to work most of the time depending on which finger you used. I think I'll stick to the good old password method, quicker.
You also get a built in memory card reader which takes standard sized SD cards.
SUPPORT
If like me you tend to play about and break software then you needn't worry. Toshiba have the legendary Restore CD that has a Ghost backend. You could break the software all day long and the Restore CD will always get it back for you. There is a limitation here where by your stuck using the preconfigured single C Drive unless you have access to another Windows CD.
Well about a week has passed and I've been using the laptop for a few hours each day. I have to say I find it really easy to use. I had my doubts about usability because of the small size but they have been unfounded. The same applied...
