...Having booked a week's holiday to go to America with some friends at the end of July, we ended up giving up due to the cost of the flights. So having booked the week off it seemed a shame to waste it and so Jenny booked the same week and we started looking for a late deal on lastminute.com. It was an all inclusive holiday to Tossa De Mar on the Costa Brava for £528 for both of us for 3 nights. The hotel, which was meant to be allocation on arrival turned out to be the Tossa Beach Hotel. This price included the flights, transfers and all inclusive accommodation, which during peak season was a bit of a bargain. Advantages: Sun Sand Sea and sangria what more can you want
Disadvantages: holiday is never long enough

The hotel that takes up a whole block

Advantages: Very professional, clean and comfy
Disadvantages: Expensive

...was there when we went to bed late on the Saturday, and first thing on the Sunday he was there again, answering what must be the same old questions. I hope he gets paid well! There are a few entrances to the hotel. It is well located quite centrally at 123 Queen St West, and within about 10 minutes' walk to the CN Tower, or the Eaton Shopping Centre. There is a big taxi rank outside, and transport to the airport is likely to cost you the same whichever way you get it if you are in a small family, so we got someone in the hotel to organise a taxi for us, which was an executive limo (not stretch, though!) and a very comfy ride indeed. Light's Out & Off To Bed At Midnight...........

Advantages: Nice and cheap, ideal for families with small kids.......
Disadvantages: The food, the staff, the other guests basically everything......

...Mar we continued up into the hills of the Costa Brava, this long wining road followed the cliff allowing you perfect views of the bright blue ocean and the forests surrounding Tossa de Mar. On arrival at Tossa our driver dropped us off in the centre of Tossa and pointed us in the direction on the hotel, this was less than perfect as we didn't speak much Spanish and the driver didn't understand any English, so basically we didn't have a clue where to go. If you just fancy a snack, a few doors down from the hotel is 'Pizza M Slice' serving the best (yep you've guessed it) pizza in the city. A must try. If you are travelling to Amsterdam by car (not recommended) the hotel has arranged a 15% discount off parking fees at a car park a few minutes away. Parking is very expensive in the city, and as the public transport is excellent and the majority of attractions are close by, a car really is not needed. ...My impression of this hotel is not a good one there are several major problems I encountered during my stay. Firstly the room: There was a layer of dust on the skirting boars thick enough to show it had not been dusted in weeks. The room was also not hovered at all during my stay. The shower room had an extractor fan which not only did not work but it also was thick with dust. The shower tray its self had dirt and grime encrusted in one corner. There was no hair dryer in the room, although you could request one from the reception. There was also no safe in the room for valubles. The TV claimed to receive eight channels, it in fact only received four and only two of these had a watchable picture. The only 'servicing' the room seamed to recieve was for the bed to be very badly pulled together. There was a phone in the room, but...

De Vere hotel in the centre of Cambridge!

Advantages: Great location, nice rooms, friendly
Disadvantages: Parking charge, busy area

...My husband and I stayed here a year or so ago, he took me for a surprise weekend away and I was very impressed with the hotel. He firstly choose De vere's as they are known to have very nice, luxury hotels at quite good prices in good locations. This location was fantastic. At first though I must admit I was a bit disappointed because looking at the photograph of the hotel you expect it to have a lovely huge green area in front of it but that is actually the park next to the hotel. The hotel is situated right in the town and not really surrounded by green area at all as the photo suggests but never mind, it did not put us off. The location like I said was in town, just a short walk down the road (Regent Street) to all the shops and restaurants so after a great day sightseeing etc it did not take long to get back "home".
