Rome:Total War - Total Game
Review of Rome: Total War by
vassilis73
Advantages: Graphics,Sound,interestin game play
Disadvantages: Not always strong enemies
...Do you remember Shogun: Total War? What about Medieval: Total War? If you had the opportunity to play both this games then you will find Rome: Total War as a fantastic continuation of the same game play. Shogun was great, Medieval added a few things that made the game play interested and now Rome has improved vastly in graphics and in the technical department and made the playing experience a really enjoyable one.
PLAYING THE GAME
The game play is separated in two areas. One, in which you can expand your empire in the world map, use of the resources of your states so to have financial and military growth and also to make allies and invade the areas of the enemies.
The other is, every time you have to battle to expand your empire or defend it, the action is moved in the battle field and you have to define your tactical mode...

Total War : Medieval
Review of Medieval: Total War (PC) by
SpikD
Advantages: Can be played over and over again, endless strategy
Disadvantages: Addictive
...Medieval Total war is the second game in the Total War series from The Creative Assembly, which includes Shogun: Total War and Rome: Total War.
Medieval Total War is a turn based computer strategy game where the player builds their own empire through conquest, bribery and civil war.
The game is played across medieval Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Game play is both strategic and tactical, with more strategy needed on the turn based side of the game where you must build your empire on a province by province level.
The tactical side of this game involves varying military units with different capabilities fighting head to head against each other on a real time tactical map.
Battles can be played alone (in random or user-defined conditions, as part of historical scenarios, or in multiplayer), or as part of the campaign...

Shogun Total war, a brilliant buy!
Review of Shogun Total War Warlord Edition Complete package by
uska123
Advantages: very original, Good game
Disadvantages: can sometimes be hard to play, close up graphics not up to scratch
...Shogun total war is very different from any game that I have ever played. It hosts many features that can both involve the player into world of 15th century Japan and into the bloody battle field of the Mongol invasion. If you have played its successor, medieval total war, you will know that these two games are very similar in comparison to each other. Shogun total war has a 3D engine like no other, and after playing it I was quite astounded at the immense detail of a game that is actually considered old now.
The game took a while to install on my system but that might be because it was on two discs, the game, taking a hefty space of over 1.5 GB was well worth waiting for on the end. Even after playing its successor, the game in my mind is still considered a brilliant buy all round, well worth paying the money for it. I must say...

Shogun Total War
Review of Shogun: Total War (PC) by
jtip_uk
Advantages: Epic Battles, at times magnificent
Disadvantages: Questionable graphics, weak sound, battles become similar
...When released Shogun “Total War” was a title dubbed as groundbreaking, a quality that is still apparent to this day. No other series of games gives you the chance to command massive armies in tactical combat and there is an epic feel as you ply your mighty warriors (or puny warriors) against the best the game can throw at you. However, in reality Total War does not quite fulfil its potential, though it comes very close.
In terms of visuals the game is still impressive despite beginning to look dated. The battlefields are large, implying infinite tactical possibilities and entertaining encounters. Unfortunately the use of sprites as units is not so effective, slightly detracting from the feeling of being inside a real life battle. In all, although a game is never defined by graphics, when it was released Shogun’s...

Medieval II: Total War
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
johnjoshN
Advantages: Grand Strategic facet/ Fantastic huge 3D battles.
Disadvantages: Large system requirements. Very Similar to Rome: Total War
...Similar to Rome: Total War and the original Medieval Total War.
This game is very good, taking many of the innovative and successful ideas employed in the Rome: Total War series and putting them into a medieval format. Great improvements in realism, with multiple unit per turn production, and a realistic system of mercenary hire.
Strategically it is very similar to Rome, although options for Crusades and Jihads are included, along with special units (an adaption of the horde idea in the Rome: Barbarian Invasion expansion).
The battles are enormously impressive. Uniquely modelled 3D units, individually animated populate the battlefield, along with towns and castles, weather conditions, and siege machines. Looks are very realistic and units even dress differently in different weather conditions.
There is the option for custom...

TOTAL War 24/7
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
pdoyle007
Advantages: Excellent addictive game
Disadvantages: Some new aditions useless
...After becoming totally adicted to this series back with the original 'Medieval Total War' (MTW), and only feeding this love with 'Rome Total War' (RTW) the run up to Christmas and this game was a frustrating time for me, although I can now say it was well worth it.
The game follows the style and standards set by the earlier games. You are given control of a faction living within the time period and the long term aim is to expand your borders and become the dominant power in the world. The methods of achieving this vary from faction to faction and player to player and this is what makes the game so interesting.
Primarily this is a War game. You expand your settlements and upgrade them with new buildings which give you access to new and more powerful units. At the same time you develop other buildings to increase trade or tax...

Shogun IS Total War!
Review of Shogun: Total War (PC) by
Podge
Advantages: Great gameplay, You'd not get bored of this game in a hurry
Disadvantages: You need a good PC with 600MB(or 500MB for minimal!)
...Shogun Total War is an excellent game to buy. Costing only £30 for an almost just out game, I had to go and get it. It is an amazing site when you see your army you have spent seasons building it up, finally marching across the battlefield against another huge army, commanded by a fellow Daimyo. The battles are the most exciting aspect of Shogun Total War, but during the rest of the game(On the map of Japan, where you move your forces, command spies and order Ninja's to do your bidding, there are some excellent videos.
Like when you want to kill the general of an opposing army, to reduce their morale, you can see your ninja doing this if you wish.
You also choose one of the seven clans who were in Japan at the time around 1530, and then you try to become Shogun, literally of all Japan!...
