Toughbook CF-34
Review of Panasonic Toughbook 34 - PIII-M 700 MHz - 8.4" TFT by
Matttheboy
Advantages: Fairly Robust, small, touchscreen
Disadvantages: Slow performance, some reliability issues
...exclusion as the performance is just not good enough. The CF-18 is the replacement model, has better keys, centrino technology (extended battery life), built in WiFi, Bluetooth, GPRS, GSM, Tablet style screen etc and is a much better offer but looking bck it wasn;t too bad a start for panasonic in this range of toughbooks, there's still room for plenty of improvement!...

The Toughbook that really is tough.
Review of Panasonic Toughbook 72 - P4-M 1.6 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
richard_millar
Advantages: Hard wearing, good quality, valur for money
Disadvantages: Chunky and heavy
...This panasonic toughbook really is a tough, hard wearing laptop. You can drop it and it will still work. A work collegue actually drove his car over this laptop and it still worked exactly the same. It is a laptop that certainly lives upto its name. This baby puts the TOUGH in Toughbook.
Do not be put off by the extra weight, chunky and basic look of this laptop. Remember looks can be deceiving.
The keyboard is one of the best I have used on a laptop. The mousepad is not as nice but hey this is a toughbook. Hit the pad hard and it works like a dream.
You have all thefunctionality and speed of aPentium 4 1.8ghz processor backed up by 256mb of ram. So not only do you get a hard wearing laptop butit is quick too.
The hard drives in these I have found are a bit suspect. In some of the machines they work fine for ages. In others...

Cf-18, Panasonic are making my life better!!
Review of Panasonic Toughbook 18 Touchscreen PC version - Pentium M 900 MHz - 10.4" TFT by
Matttheboy
Advantages: Tablet style flip screen, built in functionality
Disadvantages: ???
...and these devices are often dropping out of range for GPRS where a phone can get reception. The WiFi has been very good reception, no loss of signal quality or dropping of connections. Battery life is also good now as Panasonic have incorporated Centrino technology which utilises the Pentium M 900Mhz CPU which consumes the least power of the range of processors, giving a significant increase in battery life, we can now almost get a full days use out of these things (7 hours).
Durtability has also been much better than it's predecessor, they don't feel as strong on the outside as the 34 but Panasonic have realised the amount of hard disks that were failing and decided to mount the CF-18 disk in a jelly like substance to further absorb the shocks created by chucking these things around (which people just can't resist when they read Toughbook on the lid...

A number 34, please...
Review of 34sp.com by
ronniec
Advantages: Superb prices, excellent features, great support, and another good adjective for the hosting speed.
Disadvantages: Temperamental servers, curious online payment system.
..., finding a host for our new website turned out to be a much trickier affair than one would have expected. Having stopped reading computer magazines a year ago (sensationalist stories about Bill Gates' new operating system just can't compare to the Daily Sport), buyacheapdomain.com from the back pages was the last name to enter my mind. So, I resorted to a search through Google, and as the more intuitive among you may have guessed, 34sp.com were the pick of the bunch.
In the big picture, 34sp are a website hosting and domain registration company. Based in the UK, they are a small but growing organisation and currently offer what I believe to be one of the best deals on the market. I have read many opinions that hail the attributes of one uber-hosting company or another, but 34sp really are a step beyond this entire group. I am speaking from...

The Quad 34 - still a good'n.
Review of Quad 34 by
simcox1
Advantages: Small, great build.
Disadvantages: Din sockets?
...The Quad 34 is a preamplifier, also known as a control unit. It doesn't actually do much amplifying, as that is done by the power amp.
The 34 first appeared in 1981, and matches the 405 power amp and FM4 tuner. It was the second preamp in the Quad series '4', the other being the larger 44. The 34 has fewer interchangeable modules than the 44. With the 44, all of the inputs at the rear (for radio, aux, disc etc) were replaceable. With the 34, only the disc (turntable) input is swappable. This is so that different turntable cartridges (mm, mc) can be accomodated. It may be confusing to call the turntable input 'disc', but this was before the appearance of CDs.
The 34 was later updated with a CD input and an altered circuitry, but this review is for the original early 1980s 34.
Although DIN inputs are common on vintage hifi...

Toughness for anywhere but lacking a bit of kick
Review of Panasonic Toughbook 18 Tablet PC version - Pentium M 900 MHz - 10.4" TFT by
maxmidnight
Advantages: Tough enough for all environments with best of breed battery life.
Disadvantages: Keyboard cannot be detached, weighty, lacks power for multi application use.
...Over the past few months, I have been evaluating and rolling out tablet PC's across my organisation within the Health industry. My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, Toshiba Portégé 3500 and Panasonic Toughbook 18. What follows is a brief discussion of the Panasonic Toughbook 18 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
The Panasonic Toughbook range is arguably the market leader in robust tablet devices. It is the first device which truly stands up to hazardous condition testing and certainly is the most robust device for our specific requirements within the Trust. It has the best durability because it is wrapped in strong magnesium-aluminium, and is solid in construction: the screen doesn't wobble and all the parts fit together beautifully. Not only...

TOUGH......Yes it is
Review of Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 by
cadetspy
Advantages: Very tough and durable, fast, looks good, touch screen
Disadvantages: expensive, small screen keyboard and mouse area, no inbuilt CD/DVD
...Panasonic Toughbook .. as the name suggests it is tough really. I bought mine second hand and I can say I am happy with this transaction. In simple words Panasonic Toughbook is a laptop computer which I must say is made for extreme conditions.
As everyone knows speed of computers really depends on their specifications my toughbook cf-18 has
1.1Ghz processor and it is Intel centrino dual core which is one of the latest technology
It has 1.5GB DDR2 RAM
80GB harddisk which is big enough for laptops and average nongaming user
Bluetooth,WIFI,GSM/UMTS
Battery life is good on average it gives you 8 - 9 hours
With these specs it is a fast computer but not very fast
Looks of this laptop is just great. It gives the impression of a hard and solid laptop(which it is) it is built neatly professionaly and looks beautiful. The screen...

Panashocker WeakBook
Review of Panasonic Toughbook 71 - PIII 600 MHz - 13.3" TFT by
jholden
Advantages: Looks
Disadvantages: Not tough, poor battery life
...This laptop is not a ToughBook but a Weak Book. The battery only lasts around 45 minutes and the screen keeps failing and flickering.
I wanted a laptop that I could rely on as I work in rural environments near rivers and muddy fields (well someone has to !). The Panasonic toughbook was meant to be the answer with its ruggedised casing and splashproof keyboard. Well, in my experience the slightest hint of moisture in the air and the whole thing packs up. The screen goes dark and the computer will keep shutting itself off.
I will admit that when it works the laptop is nice to use, with pentium4, a smooth mouse pad and nifty black handle that pulls out from the front end of the laptop.
However, the battery just doesn't last very long. In this day and age there are laptops with a 10 hour battery life but this one rarely gives you...

A laptop you are not afraid it will break
Review of Panasonic Toughbook 71 - PIII 450 MHz - 13.3" TFT by
dromeas1
Advantages: Good looks, handle, case strength
Disadvantages: Battery life
...I have owned my Toughbook 71 for over two years now and I still believe it has been a very good purchase. One of this toughbook's strong points is its looks. Even though the laptop design has advanced a bit in the last two years the CF-71 still looks unique with its integrated handle and its silver painted case. Another thing to admire is its build quality. All this time nothing has gone wrong although I use it extensively for over 7-8 hours a day. Being a toughbook you can also carry it around without the fear of it breaking. Not long ago I used to load it on the back of my bicycle and it withstood all the bumps and knocks of the ride. The screen is also very good, although may be I expected it to be a bit brighter given Panasonic's acclaimed 'daybright' technology. Further, you can buy a lot of extras for the laptop such as dvd, LS 120...

Unbreakable
Review of Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 by
burns2007
Advantages: Built to last, Battery, CPU
Disadvantages: Price, No optical drive
...Introduction
***************
I have only recently bought this laptop and have been very impressed with it. One of my jobs means that I need a laptop that I can take nearly any where but with the average laptop this impossible because you always fear that your brand new piece of technology that cost you an arm and a leg will get broken. With this toughbook I have found that this is not the issue any more.
Features
***********
CPU – The processor used is a form of centrino technology which decreases the amount of power required by the CPU allowing the battery to last four to six hours which is much longer than most other laptops today.
HDD – The hard drive is covered with a form of jelly which protects it from additional vibrations which would have destroyed the laptop on previous models.
Monitor – The monitor is only 10...
