...Having experienced something of a bad run with good books lately (I'd just read 4 extremely good but very depressing books in a row) I decided that I was in need of a little lighthearted literary 'therapy'. What I wanted was a book that would entice, enchant and entertain me - absorb me with its characters, endue me with wonderment and generally restore my faith in the goodness of humankind. A Place For Tourists and Turtles! (Kefalonia)

Flights are only direct to the UK between May and October, so the winter involves an arduous journey via Athens, so this keeps the island serene in the winter and gives it time to breathe. The sights not to miss are certainly a trip to Fiskardo in the north where the quayside is littered with the nautical tablecloths of tavernas, and where yachts dance on the water, illuminating the harbour with their bright sails which dazzle against an azure blue. Is Agatha Raisin a Terrible Tourist?

Advantages: first book in the series to be set outside of the UK
Disadvantages: one dimensional characters

Beaton is a modern day writer and she writes with a style which doesn't need the reader to pay too much attention to the finer details of the plot, although she does include location information which could be quite interesting - mind you, I found some of this extra information to seem like "padding" and felt like skipping some of the more detailed descriptions of the places visited. As with other books in the series that I've seen and read so far, the book has a pleasant cover which depicts the cluster of holiday homes and hotels in Cyprus making it look rather inviting! The cover price of Agatha Raisin and the Terrible Tourist is £5.99 and it was initially published in 1997 in the USA and published in the UK in 2006 by Constable & Robinson. ...For years Athlete haven't gained the respect they rightly reserve, the first successfully released album: Vehicles & Animals never really gained true recognition in my opinion. It put them on the map in a music perspective, but the album was brilliant. Finally justice! Tourist offers a blend of Coldplay's calm and beauty with Embrace's choruses. This is an album for any music fan who says they like 'indie'. Tourist is quite different to the previous album, aimed more towards the mainstream music fan. Which is a shame, cause in some senses this means that Athlete have sold out. The vague experimental songs such as 'Dungeness' are gone; this album is more Coldplay with out Chris Martin.
