Review of Tour Eiffel, Paris

taking the tour

Advantages: accessories, ease of use, price
Disadvantages: for some the size might be a put-off

...has a clock and temperature reader. At any point in my journey I can just look down and check the time or when standing outside the school I can know just who cold it is! The wheels turn easily and smoothly. It used to be that some 4-wheel buggies were hard to navigate but this one has no trouble turning a corner. Just to give you an idea I was in town today with my usual Starbucks in one hand and piloting the buggy with the other. I purchased my Graco travel system from Babies R Us for £260 and there was a promotion to get the £100 accessories pack free. There are various Quattro Tour systems and at very different prices. I think the cheapest of which is around £150. The accessories pack made it so I had the buggy itself, the car seat, one car base, changing bag, foot cosy, carrycot attachment, and rain cover. LE TOUR

Advantages: great
Disadvantages: 3 weeks

...This years tour was once again dominated by lance Armstrong who out rode the competition to such an extent that the result was never really in doubt once he took the yellow jersey. It was great to see a British rider in yellow especially one so young with such a bright future ahead of him. Whether he will be able to conquer the mountains to the extent that he can challenge for overall honours remains to be seen but it nice to dream. Pantani once again started to regain the form in the mountains that made him champion 3 years ago and next year he will once again be a serious contender for the yellow jersey. Once again the green jesey wa swon by the same rider but I feel next year will be someone elses year....

Review of france - LE TOUR

Poor Coverage of Tour De France

Advantages: Good that it is on
Disadvantages: Bad that it did not have more coverage and at better times

...The coverage on TV of the Tour De France, probably the most prestigious cycling event in the world, has this year been appalling. Channel 4 have been covering it, not that you would know. Some days it is on at 5.30pm, a great time for people who work or have families and then other days it has not been on till after midnight, some days at 4.00am. I know most of us have got videos but why on earth cant we have it on at a sensible time in the evening? We have ended up with a weeks worth on video. Why is it that TV schedules can be altered for tennis, football, cricket, snooker basically anything but not cycling? Arent we meant to be promoting cycling in the UK instead of cars? Surely more coverage of this would help. I also have noticed that unless I have missed them on TV there have been hardly any reports on the days Tour...

Review of Channel 4 - Tour De France

le tour de force

Advantages: excitement
Disadvantages: drugs

...This years tour was once again dominated by lance Armstrong and the drugs issue bubbled under the surface. Pantani once again started to regain the form in the mountains that made him champion 3 years ago and next year he will once again be a serious contender for the yellow jersey. Once again the green jesey was won by the same rider but I feel next year will be someone elses year. Lance Armstrong however took total control after the first week and proved himself to be the ultimate athlete that he is. I think he is going to be another Imdurain in the making not bad for a man with cancer. The race once again showed France off in its own glory. The race did have some undertones of the drugs issue but these kept out of the main headlines and the tour finished again in a blaze of glory....

  "Lille De France" - Geddit?

Advantages: Near London by train, cosmopolitan feel, excellent transport connections, eating out, plenty to see

...I?ve now been to Lille three times in the past year or so, each previous time, merely for the day. Only over the last weekend did we stay overnight. Why Lille? Well, rather like the reason dogs lick their naughty bits, it?s because we can. Lille is the first main stop in France on the Eurostar/TGV route from the Channel Tunnel ? yes, I know you could get a train that stops at Calais (Fréthun), but that?s like getting out at Bristol Parkway and expecting to be in Bristol! Gare Lille-Europe arrives outside your train window 1 hour and 40 minutes after London Waterloo International disappears. Stage 1 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL), means that we now get to hurtle through Kent at 186 M.P.H. before slowing to a mere 100 M.P.H. to shrug off the 32 miles of tunnel in a mere 20 minutes. We stayed in a Holliday Inn hotel near LAX, once we arrived here we found a brochure on VIP Tours and decided to go on what they call the most popular tour which was called the 'Grand Tour of Los Angeles'. It cost in American dollars $59 (adult) and $40 (child). One American dollar is roughly equal to roughly 0.6 United Kingdom Pounds. It was very easy to book this tour with the representative in our hotel for the next day. We had a few different times we could have chosen to go on out tour. Advantages: Beats any British beach holiday hands down
Disadvantages: Strong currents on some days

...My family and I started going to Hossegor, (which is situated in the Bay Of Biscay, SW France), when I was about 5, way back in the mid 80's. Well, up he coast a tiny bit from there actually). We always stay at the same place when we're there. Its a 4star campsite called Le Vieux Port. The campsite has everything that you'd need. Even as young children we always had something to do. The entance consists of a long kind of driveway, along which runs a football pitch, crazy golf and a mini go-kart thing for the kiddies. It all looks very classy, with flags from different countries running down both sides. Then you approach the reception and main bar areas of the site. A True Magical Mystery Tour!

Advantages: Some good visual aids, fab music and mildly comical
