The Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth

Residents must have 2 forms of evidence that they are indeed residents of Portsmouth or Gosport.
Group bookings can be taken for 15 people or more. And the tower can be hired for Corporate Events outside of commercial hours.
Once past the reception desk you are ushered through to have your picture taken on a green background that they then put a picture of the Spinnaker behind and present to you on a computer screen upon leaving. To be honest I think this is a bit tatty, and I am sure you could get your own pictures of the tower that would look a lot...

One TOWER to rule them all.
Review of Alton Towers by
Critchyboy
Advantages: Great day out, good rides. Fills the day.
Disadvantages: Peak prices. Queues. THAT music ALL DAY!
...I know there are LOADS of reviews on Alton Towers here already, but thought as I had been recently I could, and most probably SHOULD, give my view on the ins and outs of that pinnacle of Theme Park experiences in the United Kingdom that is Alton Towers.
So first things first as they say…
***GETTING THERE***
DRIVING YOURSELF
Located in the middle of nowhere somewhere in the middle of England – it would seem on first viewing that a tiny village called Alton would be the most unusual location for a theme park. And I would agree.
Easy to get there off the M6 or the M1 – if travelling SOUTH use Junction 28 of the M1 or Junction 16 of the M6, if travelling NORTH use M1 Junction 23a or M6 Junction 15. It is signposted from these points.
I can say I travelled on the M6 and used neither! Junction 14, A38 to Stone, through Cheadle...

MALORY TOWERS - JOLLY HOCKEYSTICKS
Review of Mallory Towers - Enid Blyton by
kismet
Advantages: easy to read, simple values,
Disadvantages: bit outdated now, not seen as "PC" by some people
...When I was a little girl I was an avid reader. Enid Blyton was my favourite author. In todays world, her books seem very simple and old fashioned because people had very different values back in the days in which the books are based.
I think that children of today would probably be bored with the books, however I still have all of mine, ready to pass on to my daugher (if I have one) one day.
There were six books in the Malory Towers series:
· First Term at Malory Towers
· Second Form at Malory Towers
· Third Form at Malory Towers
· Upper Fourth at Malory Towers
· In the Fifth at Malory Towers
· Last Term at Malory Towers
The series follows a boarding school in Cornwll, which has 4 towers, North, South, East and West. The books seem to focus on the North Tower and Darrell Rivers.
Each novel is about a year...

A (Two) Towering Inferno
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD by
steerpyke
Advantages: more epic adventure from Jackson
Disadvantages: a slower and dark film than the first
...The second film in Peter Jackson's vision of bringing Tolkien's epic story to the screen is the real test for the viewer. After a light beginning and an easy storyline, the saga fractures into three separate interwoven tales, is slower going and the dark shadows of a world shattering war begin to hang over the land. It is the heaviest part of the tale in many ways but is only a reflection of the book. Any good story requires a beginning, middle and an end, and that is the simplest way to look at the three films. Fellowship of the Ring sets up the overall themes and introduces the characters. The Return of The King is the epic finale, heroes are made, dramatic victories are achieved and like all good tales everyone gets their just desserts. The Two Towers is the vehicle between the two. That may be doing it a disservice as it is, in its...

Famous Five Silver Tower interactive CD
Review of havas Interactive - Famous Five Silver Tower by
mascarasnake
Advantages: Stimulating to early readers
Disadvantages: Difficult to read the programmers mind sometimes
...This starts with the children arriving at a house on the coast near a lighthouse with a mysterious silver tower across the bay on an island. This is owned by one of the children (George the tomboy female).
By clicking a pointer (which has an "active eye" that blinks on and off when an active part of the picture is touched) on objects or people, a result of some sort is achieved. Either a solution to a puzzle is acted out, or some information is given to help progress the game. It must be admitted that sometimes the sensitivity or accuracy leaves a little to be desired. All to easy to miss some clues as the pointer just misses the "hot spot".
I must admit that I found it difficult as the instructions on the CD case were brief, for example no hint about SAVE, but this was found by trial to be accessed from the F1 function key...

Sky Tower, Auckland, New Zealand.
Review of Sky Tower, Auckland by
parkfields44
Advantages: Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, clean hotel.
Disadvantages: NONE
...My husband and I stayed three nights at sky tower in Auckland, New Zealand in 2005. The Sky Tower is 328 metres and the tallest building in the southern hemisphere.
The hotel is huge but all the staff were very friendly, when I needed to contact my family by emails and was unable to get the hang of the computer, a young lad from the front desk came to help me do it. The internet was free to hotel guests and was widely used by most of our party.
To get to our room we went up in the lift on our arrival but the lift stopped at a much lower floor and wouldn't move. When we all trooped back to the front desk where we told that we had to insert our room card in a slot in the lift to access our floors, only guests were thus able to go near the rooms.
There are two brilliant casinos on two floors where I won lots of cash; all...

The Two towers
Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (PS2) by
Kimea
Advantages: Read my op :o)
Disadvantages: Read my op :o)
...a significant role in the play.
The play offers spectacular angles of camera in environments interactive entirely in 3d and left straight of the large screen. System of an at the same time intuitive and tactical combat will encourage the players to choose carefully their characters, their weapons and their movements. Play the lord of the rings, 2 tower will leave to the autumn 2002, jointly with second film.
A play sensational, very beautiful, very dynamic, with characters with the various and varied attacks and scenes generated by computers which are integrated to perfection with scenes drawn from the first two films. One finds all the intensity of films there, the intrigue is very close to that described in the cinematographic work of Peter Jackson, with in more some scenes of very plausible play in the general screen of films.

Excellent Quality PC Tower Case at a Low Price
Review of Super Flower Atlas SF-702T1-S by
Deru
Advantages: Lots of fan space, Top USB/firewire, Top mic / headphone sockets, Build quality
Disadvantages: Top microphone and headphone port internal cables not long enough
...This probably doesn't interest a big number of you but feel free to skim through anyway. The review is on my 'Super Flower Atlas ATX Midi Tower'. This is basically the cabinet, PC case or base unit that contains the computer's bits and bobs. It's a 'Midi' tower because it's the medium sized tower type case. A Midi case is enough to fit a full sized motherboard
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
It comes with all the screws, back plates, etc. It comes with 12 standoffs, which is good because I've built computers using budget cases and have found that they don't have enough standoffs for the bigger motherboards! Then again, those cases cost around the same but include a PSU. The screws included are case screws, hard drive screws, CD/DVD drive and floppy screws (and similar component) screws, washers, case feet, back plate with a hole and small back...
