...The metro centre is a very large out of town shopping centre, and was one of the first out of town shopping centres in the UK. It is all indoors, with individual shops accessed from galleried walkways. It is quite complicated to navigate due to the size, but there are maps on every corner. Since then the site has expanded and there are now many separate shops such as IKEA, ILVA, ASDA, furniture shops, Pizza Hut, etc. These are all located outside the main metro centre complex, there is a shuttle bus between the different stores, as once outside the main metro centre you are faced with a fairly baffling car-led road system. Within the metro centre there is a cinema, lots of restaurants and bars, the shops (of course!) and a big indoor theme park to keep the kids amused while you do your shopping. ...and with the accessory stores I just think they do superb job having such a wide selection for people to choose from. Banking ------------ They do have banking around the place and these are just the basic banks like HSBC, RBS, Abbey, Nationwide, Barclays, Halifax and more. So there is a big range of banks there and you can withdraw cash from these places, or do the normal banking you would expect to be doing in a local town centre. I think they are well scattered throughout the centre they are not close together and it means that you're not walking around and finding one area with no stores but just banks. Very nice idea and it works really well. I think the best banking store they have might be the HSBC bank as this is a huge bank they have outside in Midsummer Place. ...Nottingham has two large shopping centres, the Broadmarsh Centre and the Victoria Centre, situated at opposite ends of the city centre .The Victoria Centre is the bigger of the two, containing 120 shops (not counting all the various stalls in the market area.) Getting there is easy - if you drive, there's parking for over 2700 cars . If you don't drive, don't worry - almost all the Nottingham City Transport buses stop either directly outside the Victoria Centre, or within a few minutes walk of it . ...Very briefly as the wife of a man who was made redundant the thought of the Job Centre plus being helpful no longer exists. As a mortgage holder and family with two school age children my husband was only entitled to Job Seeks Allowance (JSA). This was paid for 26 weeks and then after still not successful in securing employment, this was stopped. Because I work more than 20 hours a week (I am still only part time) I am expected to support the family and bills. My husband has never been asked how much I earn. This assessment is merely done of the hours I work and not the take home pay coming into the home. Having never claimed any benefits at all before this (but we are in a recession as you all know) we enquired about training and extra help, but, alas, there was no entitlement apparently. Advantages: A lovely historic City

...the University was unwanted , but it did bring us into the present century with a bit of a bang . Suddenly the town centre was alive with students , and new trendy wine bars opened up along the Marina's edge where before had been nothing but old disused warehouses . Live music venues , cinemas and leisure facilities expanded at high speed to cope with the new and sudden influx . Visitors arrived in their droves , and new hotels were built to accommodate them . Restaurants were transformed from old fashioned steakhouses to chic Thai and Italian affairs , and our previously dead City joined the modern cosmopolitan age . Yet we still have only one overcrowded and outdated hospital which has to serve a huge area due to closures of smaller local and regional hospitals . The new kids show that has lively music that also is annoying and sticks in your head for days. You can't watch a show without singing to at least one song. Location Dover Leisure Centre is located on Townwall Street in Dover which is pretty much on the seafront and within walking distance to the Port of Dover.
