The Town House is a Tiny Treasure
Advantages: Lovely rooms, great smellies
Disadvantages: I didn't get to try the restaurant - maybe next time!
...I've never been to Arundel before which is a bit of a shame as it seems to be a lovely little town although I'd have to admit it seems a bit over-supplied with antique shops and speciality little stores selling things you don't need, like a whole shop just selling walking sticks for example.
I nearly didn't stay at the Town House and visit Arundel at all due to a bit of a 'cock-up on the communication front' with the lady who was helping to book me a room. She told me that the Town House wouldn't take a booking unless I told them when I was going to arrive and I got in a bit of a snit, fuming "It's not a bloody dentist, why do I need an appointment?" Exasperated, I told her to tell the hotel to take a hike and asked her to book me somewhere else (in fact the awful Mill House in Ashington). Only after she told me that the Mill was...

A lovely B+B in Devon
Advantages: Convenient, friendly owners, good breakfast.
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...Last summer I spent a few days in Salcombe after my Mum had booked this place as a birthday present for me. It was my first time in Salcombe so I didn't really know what to expect, but my Mum had been going there for years so I was looking forward to discovering it. The Ria View is run by Peter & Bernice Henesey Smith.
LOCATION:
The Ria View is on Devon Road in Salcombe, Devon. Salcombe is a tiny town on the south coast. The roads to get there are quite windy so take care.

PRICES:
Prices for a double room at the Ria View start at £62 per night and go up to £84 per night. This includes breakfast.
PARKING:
The parking at the B+B itself is very limited. We managed to get mine in but there is room for 3 cars and they can only be small cars...

1811 Georgian Town - a superior style guest house
Advantages: Stunning house, high quality, diets catered for, excellent service, slept like a log
Disadvantages: Nothing I can suggest
...I dont normally stay in guest houses unless in South Africa or Canada where the B&B style is much different. There you expect luxury rooms, a home baked breakfast, good conversation and a great location. Have now found one in Central London that is completely to my taste. The 1811 Georgian Town house is exactly as it says on the tin - a Regency property that has been metriculouly restored to English Heritage standards. The property is not only grade II listed outside but so all authentic on the inside and why the 1811 Georgian Town House was selected for my business trip.
Hats off to our host, I'm not the easiest of guests but she responded to every need without being flustered I'm lactose intolerant and vegetarian, dont like man made fibres and had too much to do in too little time. With a gracious and helpful attitude she...

HOTEL, GUEST HOUSE, B & B or CIAO MEMBERS HOME?
Advantages: Position. Carol & Pete's Hospitality. The Bacon.
Disadvantages: The Sea Wall. Invisible Windmill........read on.......
...afternoon, we have driven up from Brighton, stopping at an old favourite (no longer - it had changed hands) pub for a late lunch just outside of Blackburn, on the way. Before going to sleep, an early night prior to starting my business rounds in the morning, I penned (yes, with a genuine fountain pen!) the following impressions.
"There's a man lives over the fish and chip shop thinks he's Elvis"???.
??..well maybe not quite, but over a Blackpool fish and chip shop you will find the "Texas Steak House", and over the Texas Steak House you'll find The Windmill Hotel.
Hotel, B&B, Guest House or Ciao members' home?
Well, in truth maybe it is just a little of all four, most importantly really, having now had the privilege of staying there, the latter I think. This place is Carol and Pete's home, in a very real sense an extension of their...

The Great Barn Maplecroft B&B is definately Great!
Advantages: Great location, friendly owners, good price, great breakfast, clean rooms
Disadvantages: I wish i could spend more time there!
...The Great Barn Maplecroft B&B is situated in Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire only about 7 miles away from Bath.
The family run business is based around a 13th Century Stone Barn, which the owners live in, having restored it from an old deralict shell about 12 years ago.
The B&B itself is an annex off the house and contains 3 rooms, two double and one large family room (2 single beds and a double) all rooms are en-suite and provide coffee and tea making facilities and a TV. The rooms are decorated to an excellent standard and are kept exceptionally clean. Breakfast is served either in the beautiful conservatory (in the summer) or in the dining room (in the winter). You are offered more than enough food to fill yourselves up for the day. Cerals, toast, fruit, then comes the cooked breakfast, certainly one of the tastest i've ever had...

Holmlea Guesthouse- an acceptable B&B in York
Advantages: reasonable price and free internet entrance.
Disadvantages: no lock in bathroom and no shower in peak time.
...My husband and I visited York city for 4 days during September 2009. The base for our stay was a B&B named Holmlea Guesthouse.
Why we chose it?
Before we started our trip we searched on the internet trying to find reasonably priced accommodation that ideally was close to the tourist areas of York. Most B&Bs and hotels we found charged at least £60 for a double room per night. However Holmlea was an exception. On their own website they advertised £45 for a double room with private bathroom, but not en-suite. Personally I?m not used to a room without an en-suite bathroom, so I hesitated to choose Holmlea. We searched again and found even if you were prepared to pay £60 we still couldn?t get a room with en-suite bathroom. So we decided to take a chance with Holmlea.

Leylands Farm B&B Surrey
Advantages: Lovely picturesque characteristic accommodation with fantastic potential.
Disadvantages: Felt unwelome, food was past its use by date, not as clean as you would expect.
...of dust which had not appeared to be cleaned for while.
In the morning I was hoping to stay a short time longer to have a look around the 7 acre gardens, which seemed to be a big adversing point on all website and was one of the reasons why I choose it in the first place. However, even though I was emailed that check out would be by 11am, the host came in at around 10am and asked if we had had a good sleep. I was hoping for an invite to view the gardens but instead I loaded up the car and could see one of their private guests putting on the garden. After we loaded up, the only ones to see us away were the host's dogs. They were very welcoming and I felt they showed us more hospitality than the owners of Leylands Farm B&B. I am not sure if we would have been made to feel more welcome if we had hired a Jaguar rather than an old banger. Maybe it...

Great B and B near Alton Towers
Advantages: Really modern and clean, and friendly staff
Disadvantages: Bit pricey
...I recently visited Alton Towers with a group of friends, and living about 3 hours drive away from the park, we decided to drive down the night before, so we could get there early and avoid the queues. (Which worked perfectly, but that is not for this review)
In chosing accommodation, the main criteria was proximity to Alton Towers, and Lower Micklam Farm won. This B and B is located in Alton, which is the nearest village to Alton Towers, (the clue is in the name!!) about a mile from the park. The name 'Farm' is accurate of the related holiday cottages, but the B and B is in the centre of the village, and was formerly a house, rather than a farm. The name is rather quaint though, and as it is a combined business with the holiday cottages, it seems fair that they have retained it.
Alton is a small place, with not much more than a pub...

How a B&B should be
Advantages: Well priced, central location to town centre, nice owners
Disadvantages: Only a couple of rooms with disabled access
..., and then that was followed with a good choice of items including a full english. We both ordered the full english and found it was very generous. 2 large sausages each, bacon, egg cooked the way you wanted it, tomatoes, beans and toast. The landlady also offered us porridge or kippers if we had wanted them.
Location
Greystones address is 152 Hendford Hill, Yeovil, Somerset, BA20 2RG. They are based on the A303. From their own website these are the instructrions to get to them;
Exit from the A303 at the Cartgate roundabout onto the A3088 sign posted Yeovil. At the end of ths road take the third exit at the roundabout. Follow the road directly across next roundabout and continue straight ahead through two sets of traffic lights, past B & Q and Safeway(on your left). At the next roundabout(the horsey roundabout) take the third exit up...

WE CHERRY PICKED THIS ONE
Advantages: Excellent Bed and Breakfast Accomodation
Disadvantages: None that I am aware of
...When we recently visited relatives in the North of Ireland we wanted two nights bed and breakfast accommodation.
The hotel we were inclined to use (as it's about a two minute drive from their home) could only accommodate us for the second night of our stay.
We reserved this and then checked out the Tourist Board online for other hotels and B & B's in and around Portadown which could accommodate us for our first night.
We liked the 'look' of Cherryville House and even although it appeared to be a ten minute drive from my aunt's home, I phoned and reserved a double en suite room for our first night's stay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We arrived at Cherryville House around mid afternoon and were met by the smiling and friendly Clair Trouton, who along with her husband Stephen own and manage this bed and breakfast accommodation.
If you...
