...I've owned a Corolla Verso T-spirit (automatic) for a year now, and its been fantastic. We've a little boy and a baby girl, and it is an ideal family car for us...transporting them and their parapharnalia is relatively painless! I had testdrives in its MPV competitors and this came out the best as it met our needs - a spacious family car which is easy to drive. The car itself is very spacious, lots of head and legroom with tons of storage pockets and drinks holders - I'm still finding new ones! In the front the dashboard and controls are attractive and modern looking, and it has a nice leather steering wheel. All the dials and controls are easy to read and use, and the passenger and driver seats have arm rests making an already comfortable ride luxurious. ...I have owned my Toyota Avensis TR 2.2 D-4D for just over one year now and have covered around 25000 miles, having purchased an ex demonstrator model on an 08 plate in Nov 08 with just over 1500 miles on the clock. I commute quite a distance to work and use my car for business trips around twice a month and so my driving is mostly motorway or fast A road/dual carriage way driving, with little heavy town driving in my normal routine. When shopping for a car, I was quite broad minded in the kind of car I was looking for, yet remained disappointed in most of the major brands until I got to Toyota, the car that initially caught my eye was a very sporty Auris model. However the dealer in Lincoln also had a selection of elegant looking Avensis lined up in a row, all with low mileage and all seeming to offer a lot of car for the price...

Toyota Avensis T4 Spirit Auto 1.8 saloon

Advantages: Great value for money, reliable, looks good, very safe car, loads of gizmos
Disadvantages: no rear wash/wipe, no MP3 dock, not brill on MPG, expensive parts

...I have the 4 door saloon from 2002, bought ex-dem at £16,000. List price at the time was £21,000 I think. Mine has done 45,000 miles and has cost little to service and look after, It is a beautiful shade of dark metallic blue. Lovely! I used to have an E class Mercedes and it hard to move away from a car like that but I couldn't afford another one and mine was getting old and unreliable. The Toyota was the only other car I found with a such a big boot. I can get a big pushchair, a pile of random junk, a week's shopping and baby paraphernalia in it with no problem. I think it looks great - though the boot does stick out. It is one of the safest cars on the market - it got top marks for in-car passenger and driver safety according to Which (5 stars), though only slightly below average marks for pedestrian safety if you hit one. One month review of Toyota Avensis.

Advantages: Looks good. Lots of gadgets. Responsive, quiet engine.
Disadvantages: Not very economical. Stiff ride.

The buying process was very long-winded and the dealer seemed more interested in selling me all kinds of insurance and other products, rather than the car itself. And the number of forms I had to fill in and the personal details he wanted was amazing. I thought he was going to ask me the name of my cat the way he was prying! After haggling over price for 4 hours and reaching a staIemate, I went away to think about it over the weekend and then came back with a much reduced offer of £2,000 less than the previous stalemate price. Avensis ? the ultimate compromise.

Advantages: Well equipped; Fairly Quick ? and silver.
Disadvantages: Acceleration only ?good?; a few rattles.

Initially I wanted a low mileage 6th generation Toyota Celica or a recent Honda Prelude ? but those proved far too rare. I considered a 2.5L Galant (but they had shoddy interiors ? which put me off.) I considered an Accord which I liked from the outside but inside lacked equipment ? specifically a factory standard full alarm (and it seemed noisy on the test drive.) ...The day I got my Verso, I sat down to write a review. When I was nearly finished, Internet Explorer did something funny and erased everything! Maybe that was better, because now, 4 months later, I have used the car in a wide variety of ways and I am much better equipped to write a proper review. OVERVIEW ---------------- Toyota's marketing line for the Corolla Verso and indeed its name, suggests that the car was made with versatility in mind. This for me has certainly been the case. I have used my Verso to move house with, I have used to transport family to and from the airport and I even use it to deliver pizzas with! Spacious and flexible family transport

Advantages: Good family MPV
Disadvantages: Expensive compared to competition

...I have covered 5000 miles in my 08 plate Toyota Corolla Verso SR D4D (140bhp) mini MPV in silver. It can be a two seater with a boot the size of a small van (a blow up double mattress will lie flat in the back) a spacious 5 seater with ample head, leg and shoulder room all round and a large boot big enough for a dog cage and push chair or a 7 seater minibus (with very limited boot space - enough for a few squashed up coats). It has cruise control, a six speed manual gearbox, rear parking sensors, all round alloys with disk brakes and front fog lights. The CD player also reads mp3 format disks. Best of all it has duel zone climate control and rear privacy glass to help keep it cool. When driving around town the computer shows that I average 60 mpg and on the motorway over 70 mpg.
