The model I?m describing here is a ?K? reg 1993 5th generation, 2.0 16v GTI, 3SGE engined front wheel drive version of this wonderful car; it has 154 BHP on tap and is in a non turbo form. The reason for the GT4 coming about with its 200 odd HP output is because there was too much power for just a 2 wheel drive car to handle, torque steering and wheel spin being major drawbacks to power being put down on the road. So split into 4 wheel drive (GT4) evened out the power, thus enabling major upgrades in performance to be had by this body design. Toyota Celica 2.0 16 valve SS2

Advantages: Sporty looking, reliable, very fast, Surprisingly economical
Disadvantages: Some replacement parts can be expensive

...had it up to 125mph on the motorway many times with ease and no excess vibration was felt at all. The interior is superb although people that have sat in the back have complained that it is a little cramped. I was also pleasantly surprised that it has loads of space in the boot. Can easily fit 2 sets of golf clubs and a few trolleys in there, no problem. Toyota engines do have a very good reputation of lasting for years and years. I regularly check the oil level and have hardly needed to top it up at all since I bought it nearly a year ago. Overall I can't really find any major faults with this car. If looked after and regularly serviced this car will go on and on for years.I plan on keeping it for many years to come....

...The Toyota Celica 1.8 ST is a cracking car for the money that you pay. You can get an excellent conditon one for less that £4500!! I have had mine for 1 year now and am still having fun in it. It sticks to the road like glue! i have had it lowered but even with the standard shocks in had unbelievable handerling. If drove sensibley you can get 36-48 miles per gallon! which is great for a sports car! PERFORMANCE: Great performance. plently of power in the lower and higher gears. So far have had 130mph then ran out of road. lol. 0-60 in 8.9 secs which it ok for the weight of the car. LOOKS: The toyota Celica lookings a stunning car. it has great body shape. Toyota Celica 1.8ST Veilside

...In standard form the 1994-99 Celica is an elegant yet fast, reliable yet enjoyable car. Add a veilside kit, and some other "fast and furious" modifications and the result is outstanding. With a spare £3000 you can turn what is already an outstanding car into something that looks like it came alive at the last full moon. The 1.8ST is not the briskest of the bunch but insurance is incredibly reasonable and fuels not too bad either! Plus the amount of people who niavely confuse it with its Supra brother increases by the day. I purchased my 1996 car back in 2002 with an above average 103,000 on the clock. Celica GT4 - An under-rated gem

Advantages: A rare and understated boy racer eater
Disadvantages: Very thirsty, expensive parts, insurance

...suggested a Celica GT4. First thing I did was obtain an insurance quote - £789 TPFT. Not too bad considering the Impreza would have been over £1,200 and I needed a tracker on it. The GT4 comes in 3 models ranging from the ST165, ST185 and the ST205 - with the 165 being the oldest and the 205 the most recent. I decided on the ST205. Living in the back end of Norfolk means that any vehicle which is a little out of the ordinary involves a long drive to find an example. Luckily, there are a handful of importers that source cars from Japan and convert them. I went to see one of these importers, put down a deposit as a 'search' fee and then waited and waited and waited. 6 weeks later the container arrived with three GT4s. ...This is the end of an era. I bought my Toyota Celica aged 29, single (recently dumped), but defiant. I'd had Toyotas as a hire car on various jobs and really liked them for their looks and driveability. I went to the Toyota garage for a bit of fun really, seduced by the idea of a test drive to pass the day. I tried the Corolla and Avensis and they were OK but they didn't have that (apologies to another car manufacturer) Va Va Voom! Celica T-Sport practical sports car

Advantages: Good handling, good economy (for power), practical for sports car
Disadvantages: Poor finish on wheels and soft paint.

...I have owned Celicas for the past 15 years or so and have owned a T-Sport for the last 3 and a half years. I love this car it is one of the best handling front wheel drive cars I have ever driven. It has almost instant and precise turn in on the steering and can be balanced between over and understeer by using lift off oversteer. The car is comfortable for long journys so long as you can accept the fairly harsh ride required to have such sharp handling. It has good quality leather seats which seem to be wearing well (there car is now 5 years old). Even the back is comfortable so long as the person is of a suitbale size to sit in the fairly low head room area. I would say for good comfort no more than 5'6" but for short journeys I have had a 6'6" friend in there he did have to have his head over to one side though. The car has...

I found the various dealerships varied quite a lot in terms of customer services prior to a sale. Once the sale had been completed, the aftersalesare second to none. --Dealerships -- I visited dealerships throughout the Midlands in order to find my dream car, my findings are as follows :- Listers Toyota - Coventry This was the first dealer I visited. I was allowed to view the cars on the forecourt with no pressure from the salesman. The cars however were not presented in tip-top condition in my opinion.
