Advantages: quality multiplayer/good fun

...The legend of Track and Field games where can I possibly start? Track and Field is one of the games you just want to play over and over again in multiplayer mode. The idea for nearly all of the ten events is simple, tap two of the buttons as fast as you can while pressing one of the remaining buttons to either, duck for the line or set the angle of the jump. There are several tactics players can do, to, shall we say, aid in pressing the buttons faster – most are not going to prolong the life of your PS2 joypad. The one we had to ban in our friendship circle was rubbing a cigarette lighter across the two buttons! Coming back to the actual game, the players look real, walk, run, jump and throw like real people! Acclaim for me have made another good game. What makes this different from others? Advantages: Nice, uplifting rap
Disadvantages: A couple of weaker tunes

...fits in naturally with their state of mind. **Four Stars* 2. "My Wheels" This was a track which I could predict for such an album as Field mob decide to take influence from the culture of the area, and in doing so, they choose to focus upon describing how well they treat their cars, in order to show off to all that can see it as they ride by. **Three Stars** 3. "So What" This is the second single off the album, and a tune which followed on so well from their banger "Georgia", which managed to get them attention from people who perhaps wouldn't have heard their music prior to this. This one is just as strong, but the change as they go for Jazzy Pha as the producer, gives them some cleaner, and more gentle beats to rap on, and the addition of Ciara increases the pleasance of this tune, despite its themes of going out... Advantages: Best band the world had ever seen

...Quite simply, Fields of the Nephilim were in my opinion the best band in the world. Their music took me to places that almost no other music has been able to. So I feel priviliged to the first person on Ciao to review this fantastic band. Their style is not to everyone's taste and the vocal style is pretty unique (at least it was until various other bands sprung up trying to copy it), but I have found that their music just grows and grows on you. Fields of the Nephilim were a one-off; they lasted a relatively short amount of time but brought out three astounding albums. Formed in 1984, they brought out their debut EP "Burning the Fields" around that time and played a large number of gigs before landing a record deal and recording their first album, "Dawnrazor" in 1987. ...The object of this game is fairly straightforward: run fast, jump far, and throw stuff in events like the; 100m Dash, 110m Hurdles, Javelin Throw, Long Jump, and Pole Vault. Unlike previous track and field games, ESPN IT&F adds non-track events as well, including the Horizontal Bar (male gymnastics), Trap Shooting, Weightlifting, 100m Freestyle (women's swimming), and Rhythm Gymnastics. It's not that I don't appreciate that the non-track events are in there, because I really enjoy the game's Olympic-style competition. I just feel the game title Track & Field is a bit misleading. Gameplay in ESPN IT&F, like in many previous track and field games, primarily involves mashing buttons as quickly as possible to make your character run down the track at top speed. Fans of the Bridget Jones diary style of writing might be a little put off at first by the way this is written. Whilst it's a fairly easy readable book, it is a novel rather than a diary, so there's not the same mangling of grammar or the breaks that make it as easy to dip into and put down. However, like Bridget Jones, it is fairly full of current cultural references, so it's very contemporary and has an easy frame of reference. Unfortunately, it has a feel of being a little rushed. ...I enjoyed the first track & field so I thought the new track and field would be really different and have new exciting events in but a lot of them were the same as the old one! They haven’t really changed the old events but put a few extras in like cycling and swimming in it! But if you have the 1st one my advice is not to bother buying this game because it isn’t worth it. However if you have never played any of them I suggest you go out and but the new Track & Field 2... Read review

Advantages: Good fun to play with friends.
Disadvantages: Seriously lacking in single player options.

...Konami have been making track and field games for years and have always had mixed results. I believe this is due to one simple fact, some people love these games and some people hate them. The button basher has been a regular release since it was born in the arcades in the early 80's it has taken many forms and has appeared on various formats, this offering is for the PS2. ESPN International Track and Field (ITF) is not in essence a terrible game, the idea is simple enough. Players get the chance to participate in 10 track and field events, 100M dash, Shooting, Weight Lifting etc. This is where the first problems arise, 10 events is simply not enough and after completing them again and again things get a little dull. ...Athens 2004 is by far the best game in its genre, though this is no surprise as it's probably the only game of its type. The game puts you in the 2004 Olympic Games, as a country of your choice. The selection of possible countries is very good, though most people won't want to be the Peoples Republic of Korea. The first minor problem with this game is the fact that countries don't replicate the actual country their based on, so the Eastern European's rarely win the gymnastics, often beaten by Ghana or something ridiculous. The game really doesn't have exceptional graphics, though this doesn't really matter when you're tapping the hell out of your controller. The thrill of the events (especially track events) is extremely well captured by the game, and you will get well into the race. Seriously your friends & relatives will soon... Read review
