Review of Logitech Trackman Marble FX - trackball by
FrankNL
Advantages: No need to move arm around, so less RSI
Disadvantages: Less accurate
...I got a Logitech Trackman Marble wheel from my father. Initially I was quite enthousiastic about the prospect of reducing my potential for RSI. The device feels solid, with a smooth surface. My version is the right hand version. Movement of the cursor is performed by roling the ball with your thumb. There are two buttons, and a scroll wheel as on most modern mice.
After test driving it for a while I noticed my initial enthousiasm being replaced by a slight annoyance. Simple tasks like moveing icons were hard to perform, and I got a sore thumb from rolling the ball around. The rest of the family (wife + two kids aged 5 and 7) were not too keen on it either.
Finally I decided to go it all the way and bought a MS wireless optical desktop pro. My Logitech TrackMan will be on E-bay soon.... To be fair, I have heared many people being...

To track or not to track!
Review of Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel - trackball by
omendata
Advantages: Reduced risk of RSI , Quicker than a mouse and better for games!
Disadvantages: Not as accurate in Graphics packages such as Photoshop , Paintshop pro!
...of the mouse arrived a long time ago and its called the Logitech Trackman Marble - I've had mine for7 years now and I have never had a problem with it yet so that says a lot for its sturdiness and electrical reliability - I havent had a conventional mouse last for more than 3 years tops!
If you havent tried one yet - go out, buy it , stay with it for a couple of weeks and you'll never use anything but a trackball in future believe me!
Ive tried many trackballs but if you want the best it has to be Logitech!...

Caress that ball
Review of Logitech Trackman Marble FX - trackball by
fam6
Advantages: Excellent ergonomics, good price
Disadvantages: Built for big hands
...I suffer from very irritating tendinitis and own a laptop (all be it the Laptop of Doom - which has an identity crisis (won't believe it has an A drive) and crashes more often than the worst cocain addicts) that has one of those awful little pencil top thingies in the middle of the keyboard. It seems to me that the only function they serve is to make your hand hurt, make you swear and make you type G where you don't want to.
So, going against my miserly ways I ventured into the computer store and browsed the offerings. I landed upon the Logitech Trackman Marble - drawn to it because it looks a bit weird (let's be honest here). At about £35 - £40 it wasn't cheap (although this was bought from a local store and may be cheaper elsewhere) but it was worth every penny - no more painful pencil top thingy for me!
The trackman fits...

A small UFO on my desk.
Review of Logitech Trackman Marble Plus - trackball by
stevethesleeve
Advantages: Space-saving combined with great features.
Disadvantages: I had to clean the contacts twice over the past four years...but that's not too bad really, is it?
...with the subject in hand? Well, you’ve heard about not having room to swing a cat? Well I couldn’t swing a mouse! Couldn’t even slide a mousemat in edgeways. The only flat space larger than a medium sized post-it was on the (sloping) ceiling!
I applied myself to a bit of research, and found the Logitech Trackman Marble+, which promised, from it’s appearance, to be ergonomic, economic (space wise) and coming from such a well known stable, reliable. It was also affordable, though more expensive than the average mouse, at around £25.
I’ve had the little tinker for about 4 years now, so I can speak with some authority when I say that it was one of the best buys I could have made.
For those who haven’t met one, let me describe it: It’s a domed semi-circlular sort of thing, but with a lump…and a ball...

Money well spent but not for games
Review of Logitech Trackman Cordless Wheel - trackball by
STEWADA
Advantages: Comfortable, good-looking, east to setup, tidy, long-lasting
Disadvantages: Accuracy not the best
...Years ago my brother asked me what I wanted for my birthday. "A Logitech Trackman Marble trackball", I replied.
6 years on I still have that Trackman. Sure, it looks a bit dated and the logo has rubbed off from all the hours at work using it but for its extremely advanced age it is still in perfect working order and if it wasn't for my need for gadgets I would still use it. So how does Logitech's new Trackman compare?
I purchased Logitech's Cordless Trackman Wheel (USB) for about £40 early last year (2002). I was a bit shocked to find that the shape, although functionally the same, had been altered from the previous model but after a couple of hours I was up and running like I'd been using it for years.
For those who still use a mouse I have one thing to say to you... R.S.I
I can use this trackball for extended lengths...

Not perfect, but it'll do
Review of Logitech Trackman Wheel - trackball by
Dave951
Advantages: Better than its rivals
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable
...a good few minutes to figure out why the marble had completely stopped working!!
Setup: Very easy to set up. Connect the mouse via usb (comes with a PS2 adapter too) then install the software off the cd, no need to read any documentation, and then a restart of the computer & away you go.
Usage: My main gripe about this mouse is the shape. It is bulkier than its previous version and shorter, so for the gentleman with larger hands like myself it isn't too comfortable.
The marble motion is as smooth as my old logitech trackman which was very welcome due to the cursor lag I experienced with the wireless version. I have unplugged the microsoft trackball due to how much I like this mouse.
Gaming: I have only tested this mouse briefly in game and haven't configured it properly yet. Having sliced through my nail and into my finger earlier...

Marble Blast Ultra (Xbox Live Arcade)
Review of Marble Blast Ultra (Xbox Live Arcade) by
weekimmy
Advantages: Addicting, Exciting, Funny, Fantastic
Disadvantages: Frustrating
...You can download this game from the Xbox market which usually works out to be round about 500 - 800 points. If you are doing it this way you will need to buy a points card which costs round about £18 to be able to have points and use these points to download this and many other arcade games. However you can buy the game also from the shops with another 5 games in it for about £20. I would probably advise you to get the actual game and not download it, but it works out the same maybe saving a little bit of money.
I play this regularly on the Xbox 360 and it is so addictive. You control a marble all around different levels to reach the finish. Sounds simple, but there are little tricks. Sometimes you need to collect red gems which are sometimes in hard place and only when you get them all the finish opening will open and you...

Try it, you might like it
Review of Logitech Trackman Marble Plus - trackball by
Nige7Whit
Advantages: Can make best use of small desk space, easy on the wrist
Disadvantages: My version doesn't have enough buttons
...I have had one of these Logitech marble trackballs ever since I have had a laptop (about 4 or more years now). My version isn't the same as the one in the picture accompanying this category, mine has the ball completely exposed on top of the body of the unit, and 2 eliptical buttons, one on each side. I did have one of the type illustrated, but disliked it due to the limited range of ball movement caused by the frame over the ball, so I gave it away and got one of the simpler but more user friendly ones.
I'm now on my second of these, not bcause the first wore out, but because I simply had to have one in grey and black, to match my new laptop, and the first one was 'PC white'.
I doubt whether I will ever go back to a conventional mouse again, but one item that is tempting me, as the price drops, is the Microsoft trackball...

Nice and comfy, and accurate too
Review of Logitech Trackman Marble FX - trackball by
digitalburn
Advantages: Precise, sensitive, ergonomic, fully featured software, lots of buttons
Disadvantages: Slightly high effort, can take a while to get used to
...As a graphic designer I require pin-point accuracy and high responsiveness in any pointing device that I use. I've been using a small ball thumb operated trackball for some time, and recently decided to opt for something better, so I decided to try out the Marble FX, and have been delighted with the results.
First off, the ball itself. It's large, finger operated, and weighty. In order to release the ball for cleaning etc, it's not necessary to fiddle with collars etc, it just pops out when you push it from the back. However, one of the best things about it is that it's entirely optical - no moving parts whatsoever. This makes it extremely sensetive and means it hardly ever needs cleaning.
The unit is ergonomically designed, with four customisable buttons and an extended wrist rest.
The drivers/software is extremely impressive...

Run marble run marble run run run
Review of Galt Galt Marble Run by
mumsymary
Advantages: Good for eye tracking exercises
Disadvantages: its ok
...We have a marble run at school it is made by Galt. I must admit I rarely use it with the children.
T his set is made with bright primary coloured pieces of plastic. Curved pieces, tubes and shoots. In the basic set there are 6 chutes, 6 curves, 9 tubes, 3 bases and 6 marbles included. This basic set will cost you about £11.oo. There is a super marble run that costs about double the price and contains about double the amount of pieces.
This toy is suitable for children aged about 4 years to 8 years old
The marble run is a construction kit all the pieces fit together in a variety of different ways. Children have to work out which way will be best so that the marbles will run fluidly along and down the run.
When the run has been made a marble is released at the top and will run slowly down the chute around the curves till...
