...Great company for those who have some knowledge of share trading or who would like to get into it. It is not the first company I used. I use to have a trading account with my bank but this company offers more than your high street bank. It is originally an American company but now operates in the UK as well. ...Well there can't be many sites which offer one of the most competative prices AND a free magnum of champagne (if you do trade before end of August). Self Trade http://www.selftrade.fr/uk/ is one (if not the0 most competative stockbroker around. At £12.50 per trade and with no monthly fees or other charges you may ask how can they do it??? Well their philosophy is simple - there is no fancy graphs or data which costs a fortune to provide. If you like this stuff the answer is simple - deal with self trad but do your research else where! Self trade is a very fast and simple stockbroker which is very cheap and with no hidden charges. I would ( and have ) reccommended this to many friends.... Read review

Advantages: Real time share prices
Disadvantages: Seems to have more downtime than its peers

...and for detailed trades info. This site is always my first choice for price quotes because it gives real time prices for free. Other sites are normally 20 minute delay prices or real time only if you pay. From the price quotes page, there is a link to detailed trades info, to see all the trades done that day (also available at Hemscott, but I prefer ADVFN because the layout is better, including a split into buys and sells - note, however, that this split isn't perfect, as their software is just doing the best it can to 'guess' whether a trade is a buy or a sell by comparing the trade price with bid & offer prices). There is also a link to a chart facility, recent RNS announcements and recent bulletin board messages on the company. The bulletin boards are not such good quality as Motley Fool, but still welcome as additional information.... Read review

...Following my earlier comments on the downhill quality of TDW I have just learnt that Hargreaves lansdown offer a free nominee account transfer service to them. They also allow you unlimited online trades in the first month that you openthe account for only 5 pounds per trade. Following that, I believe that all trades are at a set price of 15 pounds per trade. That beats TDW hands down as TDW are planning put up the frequent traders rate to 19.95 per trade. I am sure that this is a good deal and that it would be wise to shop around for more deals. if anyone has a view, please let me know.... Read review

...I have noticed that all the other reviews of Fastrade are several months old. As Fastrade have greatly improved their service recently, I thought it was about time to add a new review. Their old service was sometimes very slow and unpredicatble, although their very personal customer service made up for this (notably, the very helpful Louise!). Their new service, however, features real-time trading and is a vast improvement. Once you have specified which stock you want to trade (annoyingly, this is a 2-click process, even if you already know the ticker code), you then specify if you want to Buy or Sell. You can then choose either a number of shares, or a total trade value. The next screen then gives you the live price, which is valid for 15 seconds (shown by a timer on the screen). ...I have read some excellent OPINIONS of E-TRADE written by experienced traders. I would like to thank them one and all. My OPINION is one of a NEW E-TRADER. I find E-TRADE very easy to use. Type in a company name, get their stock symbol and voila! You will find quotes, daily ranges, charts, profiles, news, 52 wk. highs and lows, etc.---everything you need to begin. Although, I do not rely solely on the information E-TRADE offers. I also use AOL stock info and any other applicable sites when researching a particular stock. I find AOL'S s research reports and news to be more informative than E-TRADE's in general. I could not live without E-TRADE'S free real-time quotes. As a new investor that 20 minute delay just drives me up a wall. E-TRADE does not update your portfolio in real-time however. You can use the real-time quotes... Read review

...I'm no trader. In fact, I wouldn't know the FSTE if it hit me. Yet I was lured one day by a leaflet that fell out of the Evening Standard offering a whole month's trading for free, a free month's subscription to Shares magazine and a magnum of champagne! Too good to be true? Well, I put them to the test. Signing up was simple and all done through the site. However, as with all brokers, they required proof of address. I was able to fax a utility bill and within about 2 hours of sending, my account was ready to operate. Before being able to trade you need to deposit money, this can be done through a variety of methods, the most convenient is using a debit card (one that displays a SWITCH or VISA DELTA symbol).
