...INTRODUCTION Cotton Traders (CT) has become a staple source of clothes for me. In my darkest days, pushing almost 25 stone, it was my only reasonably priced, mainstream source of outsized clothes that did not carry the psychological baggage inherent in ?Big & Tall? and ?High & Mighty? type shops. With sizes up to 4XL for T-shirts and polo shirts, and waist sizes up to 52 inches, it was a godsend. The only downside was that ordering from them helped perpetuate the illusion that my size was OK. Rogue traders are being watched

Advantages: tries to keep the general public informed
Disadvantages: none unless you're a rogue trader of course

Rogue Trader

Advantages: Great story line, true life
Disadvantages: Difficult to understand

Coming up to Christmas the losses grow up to £10,000,000. Through good luck, and hard work he manages to trade of of that position and makes all that money back. Trying to recover all that money he has to recruit more people onto his books. Pierre Bo Marche is his answer. This guy is one of the biggest traders in town and the commission Nick earns off him is massive. But he hasn't made it because he's only really made a loss into a break even figure. Review of Rogue Trader (DVD)

Rogue Trader but certainly not a rogue film

Advantages: Great acting, excellent plot
Disadvantages: A little technical at times but doesn't really spoil the enjoyment much

...Rogue Trader is a film-documentary depicting the rise and fall of a Mr Nick Leeson (played by the excellent Ewan McGregor), an investor for Barings Bank. For those who were living on the Moon in 1995, Barings Bank (of which the Queen was a customer) collapsed that year after Leeson abused his position of trust and gambled customer's money on the stock market. Leeson had it all, good job, money and was happily married but he wanted more but what transpired was not what Leeson expected.... I decided to buy this film due to the fact I take an interest in the stock market. Of course, during the film many technical terms are used and at times I did have problems understanding what was going on but that did not detract from my enjoyment of the film as I got the gist of what was happening. AutoTrader Car Insurance - just DON'T do it!

Advantages: I got insurance on my car
Disadvantages: They don't even bother reading emails + double your premium because of their incompetence.

...I had bought a replacement car when the old one went to that scrapyard in the sky, and was keen to find some value-for-money insurance. So, I went on a couple of comparison sites such as gocompare.com, confused.com and moneysupermarket.com. Some of the prices were pretty good, I guess since I have been claim free since passing my test in 1995, female driver, only doing the social, domestic and pleasure (i.e. school runs, grocery shopping, bill paying, ferrying elderly relatives about etc) so I decided to upgrade from Third Party Fire & Theft to fully comp. I had had a quote off the insurer I was with (Hastings) but they wanted £25 to change my policy and another £80 because I had gone from an N reg to a T reg. Hence, much cheaper to go elsewhere and tell them to shove it. So, the AutoTrader insurance was slightly better priced...

...The Cotton Traders Website is easy to navigate and loads up pretty quickly. It's logically organised I quickly found the trainers I was looking for. A feature I found particularly useful was the stock indicator. In the shoe department, for example, you can see staight away which sizes they have available and in which colours. The ordering process, though, was a bit long winded. You have several pages to go through filling in postal details,payment details etc. I wanted to pay by switch and thought I had filled in all the boxes correctly only to recieve a letter (about a week later) telling me that my payment had not been authorised and could I ring the number given. When I duly rang I spoke to a very pleasant lady who informed me that the problem concerned the issue number on the switch card. Apparently they had forgotten...
