...I first came across MultiMap.com through the use of Lycos. They must have some sort of partnetship with Lycos where the Lycos website used part of the MultiMap site and you were able to look at street maps on the Lycos website. ...TomTom Map of the USA and Canada Maps TomTom Maps are a 2gb SD card with route maps stored on them that are made to work with the TomTom satellite navigation system. They originally come with UK/Europe maps so these are a brilliant upgrade if you are considering taking your car abroad or hiring a car and driving over there. These are a lot easier than using a standard map when you are visiting another country and make getting around easy. We have just bought one of these as we are planning a trip to the USA and decided one of these would be useful. I have never been abroad so certainly wont know my way around. ...Well, you can call me a geek, anorak or nerd but I don`t mind admitting that I am mad about maps! Before a visit, during a visit or after a visit, you can find me absorbed in these multi-coloured sheets of paper, studying and reading them like a book. Although I have thousands already, I always welcome one brought home for me from someone`s holiday or trip and if I`m going myself, the first item on my list is always…MAPS! So call me an anorak then! Almost every house will have maps of some description, be they Ordnance Survey , Michelin, Collins or A-Z. ...I purchased this through the TOMTOM website and downloaded it to my TomTom GO520 T. It downloaded really quickly through our 8 meg connection and I had it installed on my device within a few minutes. We used it for a driving holiday to Hungary in Feb 2008 and it proved fantastic - we did not come accross any roads (including tiny farm trtacks) that were not listed. All the POI's we used were accurate (petrol stations, shops, shopping centres, tourist attractions) and generally we could not fault it. It is especially useful for planning a journey as with all the TomTom products you can preview the map and route. In Mid June 2008, I downloaded the new updates Eastern European map and am going to test this out during August on yet another Hungarian driving holiday. Well done TomTom. ...A film needs to be two things to be considered great; a good story and well told. Unfortunately traffic fulfils only one of these requirements. Lets start off with its good points. It is an extremely well made film; the direction and cinematography are all excellent. Especially good is the use of three separate tints for each of the three stories. The acting is also top notch. So given all these things why did I give it such a poor score? Well, Traffic misses out on one of the essential ingredients it needs to make it a good film; it has a crap story. When I was growing up I was always taught that a story should have a beginning, middle and end. Traffic has a middle, middle and middle. The goblins and the Invisible Paint..With a big thirst but no money to buy drinks, the goblins get Mr Sparks to agree to split his profit with them if the lucky charm they give him brings him more business! Then they set about painting things with invisible paint and putting them in the road to cause accidents. Will Mr Plod work it out and put the naughty goblins behind bars where they belong? ...When i went to see traffic at the cinema i have to say i was excited. I have always loved the cinema and i have a real passion for film, hence my undertaking of film studies at A level at school. I had heard alot about traffic in the media and i was under the impression i was going to view a multi-level, well acted and compelling thriller. Now part of that description is true, but which part? The best description of traffic is as an epic insight into the issue of drugs in American society, it is multi-levelled in that it views its subject matter from all angles. The tag line "no one gets away clean" is a good one, the director ensures that as the audience we see many different characters in conflicting roles as they are all affected by a single problem, drugs. ...Having had a look at the film review ops I've wrote so far, I've noticed I've only wrote about films I've liked. In order to redress this rather lopsided stance, I've decided to write about a film that I'd looked forward to seeing, but which left me immensely disappointed. The film that best fits the bill just has to be Traffic. I'll give you a (very) brief synopsis of the story, as to go into it in any great depth would take me hours! There are 3 main story lines. Number 1 involves Michael Douglas as a government-appointed drugs "Tsar" whose job it is to try and stem the tide of drugs entering the US, who discovers shortly after his appointment that his daughter is fast becoming a junkie.
