Beware of "Strangers on a Train"

Advantages: Fabulous story, fabulous atmosphere and fabulous acting
Disadvantages: A very few irksome things but neglible

...Alfred Hitchcock?s Strangers on a Train - excellent movie! I could leave it that but of course I won?t. I?d had this 2 disk special edition in my DVD collection for a while before I got around to watching it. I really should have watched it as soon as I bought it. Are you a train Virgin?

Advantages: fast, few delays
Disadvantages: occasional delays, cost if booked late

...It's coming up for the party season again so I have recently spent rather a lot of time making travel arrangements, one method of travel I seem to utilise rather alot these days comes in the shape of the West Coast Mainline, between Manchester/Stockport and London Euston, while in a previous life time I was very familiar with the Manchester/Edinburgh section of this same line, this route is operated by Virgin Trains and has been for several years. Thankfully these days the booking process is somewhat easier than it used to be, having to go in to the train station to book tickets I always found a somewhat draining experience as there was invariably a queue of people apparently wanting to purchase tickets for the next train due and only one counter open, now you can book online at one of several sites, my preference is virgins own, but...

Train your eyes?

Advantages: Fun to do and does help with some skills
Disadvantages: Would probably get a bit repetitive over time

...Having recently bought a Nintendo DS and enjoyed the Brain Training I was intrigued when I saw the new Sight Training for DS on sale in my local supermarket. Ever curious (and being keen to retain as many of my faculties as possible) I decided to buy it and see what it offered. Intially this product seemed quite similar in format to the Brain Training package I already had however I was pleased to see that it didn't have the rather irritating Dr Kawashima but seemed to offer something slightly more serious. The aim of the package is to offer the opportunity to train your 'vision' and alongside that there is the facility to test your eyesight and work out your 'Eye Age'. Rather interestingly the tests you get to perform are actually based on your 'Eye Age' so it is suggested that you check this something like three times a week...

Advantages: Terrific acting, great plot, dark, compelling but intelligent

Tesco trains

...Santa bought my four year old the lovely mountain train set made by tesco. He desperately wanted a train set and when we were in Toysrus we would look at the brio sets and then look around the other toys. It was not unitl near to Christmas that I actually decided to look at the price. I was horrified to discover how expensive brio train sets were. I looked in several other shops ELC etc but they too were too expensive. I found a cheap set in ASDA but it did not seem to be compatabile with brio or even near to the quality, so I decided not to buy the train set from there either. When we were shopping in Tescos my son pointed out the train sets and took a real interest in a lovely mpuntain train set which had had a wooden train set, a little bridge, wooden animals, trees, tunnels, trains, carriages,sign and mountains all for £24...

Train Your Sight with Nintendo DS Sight Training!

Advantages: a good cheap game to play!
Disadvantages: Each days training is a ltitle short.

...I got my DS a couple of Christmas' ago, and with it I got the Dr Kowashima Brain Training, the game is great, and although you never complete it in that the game ends and you can go no further without starting again, there are only a few of the little games on there, and it gets that way that your only using the game for half an hour each day. So when I saw a new game called Sight Training, with the same kind of packaging and design, I really wanted it. The game isn't by Dr Kawashima but has very very similar packaging as to make it look as though it is, whether it is made by the same company but not endorsed by the same "Dr Kawashima" I don't know, but it is much like the original Brain Training game in the way the packaging looks, and even the way the game is set out and played. Virgin to Virgin Trains

Advantages: more efficient, clean and cost effective
Disadvantages: bit uncomfortable

...I hate public transport, always try to avoid it as much as possible and to be honest I have only ever caught a train once in my life and that was many years ago. I always tend to drive if I am going away on business or pleasure however this week I needed to take a trip to Worthing, Sussex and driving from Stoke to Worthing is a little bit of a trek or should I say getting on for 6 or 7 hours if you get stuck on the M25. I decided the easiest option would be to go by train which would reduce my travelling time by almost half. The journey on the train to Worthing is just under 4 hours, and that includes three changes so you get plenty of time to stop, stretch you legs and get something to eat. Training should be fun and not a military process,

Advantages: brings you and your K9 together whilst having fun, which dogs love
Disadvantages: takes time and a lot of effort

...Whilst browsing through some reviews I stumbled across this section regarding dog training, so, considering I have managed to train a few dogs in my time I thought I?d give my bit of advice, (although it does seem to be more than a bit), in the art of training a canine friend, because let?s face it, a dog IS mans (and womans) best friend indeed and if they understand their Alpha males, (because to them that is what you are), then both your lives will be so much easier and a lot more fun. And I do realise that this space is for toilet training only but i have extended this to add advice on other training methods. Training a dog is easier the younger the dog is, remember the saying, ?you can?t teach an old dog new tricks?, although technically you can as even older dogs love to learn new things.
