...Whilst on holiday in Prague myself and my girlfriend were wondering back to our apartment after a day of sight seeing and we came across the Tram Café in Wenceslas Square. We decided to pop in for a quick drink and warm ourselves up. The Tram Café. The Tram Café is situated in the far end of Wenceslas Square in the City of Prague. Wenceslas Square is one of the major tourist attractions in Prague and is marked on every map so finding this unusual café shouldn't be too hard, although we literally stumbled across it by accident on our walk home. The Trams which make up the Tram Café were are trams that were once in use within the City of Prague. Vintage Trams!

...Christchurch Tramway When in Christchurch we decided to take a ride on the rustic trams. They do a circle of the city centre giving you some commentary and stopping at different places so you can get off to see the sights. It is a hop on hop off tram, which means you might not finish your journey on the same tram. Your ticket lasts you for 24 hours. The stops are detailed below. **STOP 1 - Cathedral Square** This is the heart of the city, here hosts markets, stalls and the information office. The day we were there, there was a art exhibition with different sculptures set up. I'm assuming this is only a yearly thing though. In the centre there is a Cathedral which you can go in and see. The best fish and chips in Wales and it's official!

Advantages: Food, service, cleanliness all excellent
Disadvantages: None apart from the dreaded calories!

...As some of you will already know we live in Llandudno and I am happy to tell you that we boast an award winning fish and chip shop ? in fact it came second in Great Britain in the National Fish and Chip Shop of the Year a couple of years ago. Incidentally on the way up to Edinburgh we tried the fish and chips at the winning shop in Biggar and they are nowhere near as good as ours! The chip shop in question is called Fish Tram Chips which you may think is an odd name but it is directly opposite the terminal where you catch the tram up to the summit of the Great Orme so that explains the name then. The full address is: Fish Tram Chips 22/24, Old Road Llandudno LL30 2NB It is open seven days a week during the summer from 12pm until 3pm and then again from 4.30pm until 7.30pm. ...Nestling high up in the heart of Derbyshire near to Matlock and overlooking Derwent Valley you will find the lovely little village of Crich. This is the home of the Crich Tramway Village. Here you will find an active working museum of the most beautiful working trams in the U.K as well as trams from many different parts of the world. Germany and Portugal for instance. You can watch volunteer maintenance workers restoring trams from wrecks through to working machines. You enter the site from the car park and you are given an old 2p for adults and a 1p for a child. This coin is given to the conductor for your first ride. He will give you an all day ticket, which entitles you to ride on as many different trams that are running on that day. Trams not just a tourist attraction...

...So in my quest to find a new job (and getting a sodding tax disc from the DVLA) today I had to venture to the bright lights of Manchester city centre, my chosen method of transportation the metrolink from Radcliffe. OK the metrolink for the uninitiated is the tram system that runs through Manchester city centre connecting Bury, Altrincham and Eccles with the city. The trams run on the Bury line roughly every 6minutes during the day and every 12 minutes at off peak times, from 6am until 11pm. The trams are in the companies green and grey livery with a drivers cab at either end, they are simply two carriages long as the frequency of the trams negate the need for longer ones (plus any longer and they would be less practical for travelling through the city centre). The History The tram has been in existence since 1888 when it was officially opened by the Governor and in these days the wooden tram was powered by coal fired boilers. ...Trams have made a comeback in London. There is a network in and around the bourugh of Croydon - Croydon Tramlink. It is a brilliant way to get around. You may think they will trundle around the roads in traffic, but once out of the Central Area they speed away at 50 m.p.h! Trams are exellent value - 90p single to nearly every stop. Frequenceys are high, on route 3, croydon - neew addington, there is one tram every 6-7 min. Ticket Machines are a bit hard to use at first, and Information Displays at stops arn't very reliable, but on the whole and exellent system!...

You may have noticed some of my earlier reviews were of either Birds or Railways. Well why not combine the two. Next to the Axe estuary in Devon runs the Seaton Tramway. This is a narrow gauge tramway that has quite a history. This tramway was the idea of one man, Claud W Lane. He was a qualified electrical and mechanical engineer. Way back in 1949 he built a miniature tramway that ran on rail of 15" gauge. This was so popular that he had to take a travelling set of rails and tracks to fetes and other attractions. Fantastic trams

Advantages: Quick, efficient way to travel from town centre to town centre

...Last week I had to attend a meeting in Croydon and decided to travel by tram from Wimbledon. I had driven between the two places on several occasions and thought that the tram would make a refreshing change and have the added benefit of avoiding the difficulty of finding suitable car parking in Croydon. The first ticket machine that I tried in Wimbledon was out of order so I ended up buying a ticket (£1.30 single to Reeves Corner) from a member of the South West Trains staff by the platform. The tram duly turned up after about five minutes and I was suprised as to how busy it was at 1.15pm. The journey was smooth and the tram built up quite a head of speed between stations. I arrived in the centre of Croydon in about 20 minutes, far quicker than it would have taken me to drive, let alone park. The return from George St. to...
