Trauma
Review of Trauma DVD by

Advantages: Colin Firth!
Disadvantages: Seems to drag and is Cert 15
...that in great detail without giving away the ending.
This film has some intriguing ideas but it fails to deliver them properly. The actors do good work with average material. The style is often too unnecessarily creepy. The scenes with the escaped ants are really horrible.
"Trauma" feels like an especially long episode of a standard BBC crime series, which is not surprising seeing as it's a BBC film. The special effects are not that special and the cast is small. Think "Waking The Dead" without bellowing Trevor Eve. It may be more suited to the small screen, mainly due to the humdrum sets and close-up camera shots.
It goes on general cinema release on 17th Sept but I would recommend waiting until this is out on video, to be honest....

Trauma Centre
Review of Trauma Centre: Under the Knife (NDS) by
gem412
Advantages: Great idea for a game, excellent use of the stylus and double screen
Disadvantages: Soooo hard!
...In Trauma Centre you take on the role of Dr Derek Styles, who has just qualified as a doctor, and is still trying to improve his surgery skills. You are faced with patients who have a variety of different problems which you are expected to sort out with an operation. to begin with, the operations are easy, as simple as just opening up the patient, removing a foreign body, and stitching him back up again. You use the stylus to choose the tool you want to use - choices include scalpel, suction, antibiotic gel, dressings, bandages and lasers. The stylus becomes your tool, and you use it slice, cover, massage and stitch. The game is very enjoyable for the first chapter, but when chapter two gets underway it begins to become frustrating that you cannot cure the patient! It is so difficult at this stage. Dr Styles discovers that he has a power...

Trauma Center
Review of Trauma Center: Under the Knife (NDS) by
Julia95x
Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review
...My brother wants to be a surgeon so I thought Trauma Center: Under the Knife would be a great game for him! So I bought it for him and of course had to give it a go myself!
~Storyline~
In this game you play a young unexperienced doctor called Dr. Derek Stiles who works at Hope Hospital. Derek takes his job very casually until he almost loses one of his patients because of his carefree attitude. Because of this Derek wonders if he should quit being a surgeon but suddenly an emergency patient comes in. Of course, it's up to Derek to save him. Things don't start of very well but slowly, Derek is able to fix up the patient.
I won't give anymore of the storyline away now!
~Playing~
When performing surgery, you will use the touch screen and stylus.
If you manage to complete the surgery successfully, you will see the message...

Go West Young Man
Review of Trauma by
dadmancat
Advantages: Extremely coherent for an Argento plot
Disadvantages: a thinly disguised lack of interest from said director
...1993 saw Italian horror maestro Dario Argento arrive in America, not quite in Hollywood, but nevertheless, the money was American, and the cast for his new venture was English speaking. After years of trying to break the American market, but finding only critical acclaim, and the meagre returns from a cult following, Argento tackled the problem head on. With US dollars, he started work on his first US feature, 'Trauma'.
Based initially on a story suggested by Franco Ferrini and Gianni Romoli, Argento then penned the screenplay himself, before T.E.D. Klein was brought in under studio instruction to tidy up the script. Klein's work is clearly visible in 'Trauma', and if the film fails to match previous Argento outings in terms of style and suspense, then it scores highly with a more robust brand of storytelling.
The story concerns...

I Won't Let You Die!
Review of Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii) by
mrten_8
Advantages: Challenging, Original, Great storyline
Disadvantages: It's a remake
...The great thing about the Wii, is that you'll find games on the console that simply wouldn't be as good if they were released on a rival console. It is the master of innovativity. With the Wiimote, anything is possible. Fact is, Trauma Center: Second Opinion just wouldn't work on any other console. But it works on the Wii. It works very well indeed.
OK, you got me. Trauma Center Second Opinion is a Wiimake of the cult DS hit Trauma Center: Under the Knife. Just like the original, you play as Derek Stiles, an up and coming Surgeon who's just graduated from Med School. The year is 2018, and most of today's incurable diseases are now curable. You become more popular with the staff at your Hospital, and you soon find yourself head-hunted by Caduceus, the biggest Health Service in the world. Sadly, it's not all good news, because there...

It's like med school... all over again
Review of Trauma Center: Under the Knife (NDS) by
madlilnerd
Advantages: unique, challenging, intelligent gaming!
Disadvantages: frustratingly hard in places!
...Okay, so, to be honest, I wouldn't know if it was like med school all over again. I'm 17. I've never been to med school. But, Trauma Center: Under The Knife on the Nintendo DS is one of the most challenging games I have ever come across.
And that's why I love it.
Splattered across the gaming world, there's this horrid misconception amoungst fans that "[Nintendo] were once giants of gaming, battling for supremacy against the mighty Sega. Now they make games for old people and little girls" (lifted directly from a mates forum).
Anyone who thinks like that, even for a second, should pick up a copy of Trauma Center and submit themselves to it's gruelling, yet rewarding routine.
The principal of the game sounds simple. You are a surgeon, Dr Derek Stiles, pushing his way out into the great world of medicine. You must use the DS...

Review of Trauma Center: Under the Knife (NDS) by
dudeglove
Advantages: Pass the time by piercing a percardium
Disadvantages: Minor niggles with the stylus
...Apart from Theme Hospital, Trauma Center: Under the Knife is the only other game I can think of to involve some sort of medical setting. Whilst Theme Hospital was more Sim City, in that you designed a hospital and tried to stop your patients from spreading epidemics or the MRI machines from exploding – Trauma Center puts you straight into the operating theatre, scalpel and all.
The DS touch screen facility comes to the fore with this title. Using the little plastic stylus: you perform basic incisions into the forearm with a scalpel; make injections into some ugly swelling in an intestine to stop it from rupturing; use forceps to yank out lar | | |
