Budget accomodation gem

Advantages: Location, Price, parking
Disadvantages: Breakfast

...hotel and here's why. Charing cross is not far from the end of the famous sauchiehall (Soggy hall) street which is the Glasgow equivalent of oxford street. This means that you are within 5 mins walking distance of the very center of glasgow. In addtion to this the location means that from a transport perspective you are also very well siutated with easy access to the M8, the charing cross train station right next door and glasgow airport just a few miles away. If travelling by car there is a multistorey car park which only charges you £1 for over night parking which can be far more if you stay in one of the other city hotels. TOP TIPS Don't eat the breakfast Ask for a room higher up in the building as if you get a room on the wrong side and low down you can hear the train announcment until late at night. Don't eat at the hotel...

Travel Inn for a premier Night's Sleep

...Holiday Inn Express at Glasgow Airport. Me and my girlfriend booked this hotel 3 weeks before hand and got a great rate of £55 for one night including full breakfast.We got the free airport bus from buchan bus station which takes to outside the main terminal at the airport .When we arrived we were amazed at how close it was actually to the main terminal of Glasgow Airport less than 2 minutes which was very handy for our morning departure.We checked in around 1630 and were told in detail the facility's , restaurant opening times , breakfast times and all check out details by two friendly staff receptionists one lady also helped us with the masses of luggage we had to the room. We were surprised with the quality of the hotel with it just being a budget hotel the entrance to the hotel resembles the same look in decor as any 4 or 5 star...

The Mussel inn

Advantages: Good quality mussels, good lunchtime deal
Disadvantages: Expensive if paying for a full price evening meal.

...The Mussel Inn is a seafood restaurant specialising in mussels, oysters and scallops. The Glasgow restaurant is at 157 Hope Street in the city centre and the Edinburgh one is at 61 Rose Street. I have only been to the Glasgow restaurant and so will primarily be reviewing that location. First of all for anyone with environmental concerns the seafish is all from renewable sources from the lochs and sea lochs of Scotland's west (atlantic) coast. The reason that I discovered the Mussel Inn was that my mum was lured in by their lunchtime deal and then brought me along another time to experience it. The deal is on mondays to fridays from opening to 5pm and consists of a large bowl of mussels in a choice of sauces (I recommend the cream, shallots and white wine which is the best for mussels!) with salad or chips, as much bread as you want...

...First of all, I have to say that i do appreciate this hotel being at a motorway service station however, other service stations I have been to have coach stops whereas this hotel is only accessible by car (or if you like to splash the cash, by taxi). The hotel has everything you come to expect from the Travel inn/Travelodge type of hotel with a decent bed, a pull-out sofa, decent bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, and a few satellite tv channels. My husband and I thought we should give this hotel a try as it is located pretty much bang in the centre between Edinburgh and Glasgow, with Edinburgh around 50 mins away and Glasgow 40mins away taking traffic into account.
