Premier Travel Inn
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by  bobcatjack

Advantages: Wherever you go in the country you should expect the same standard of accomodation and facilities.
Disadvantages: The quality of these can vary wildly!

...Once upon a time, these hotels were Premier Lodges and Travel Inns. Premier Lodges used to be owned by Scottish&Newcastle (brewers by trade) and Travel Inns by Whitbread (previously a brewer by trade, now more of a leisure provider). Premier Lodge and Travel Inn used to be the hottest competitors for the top spot in budget hotel chains, and Premier Lodge previously always won. Since Scottish&Newcastle has ceased to exist, all of its bars and pubs have been successfull in remaining pretty much whatever they were before, with the sale of each having little effect, while Premier Lodge, as the Company's only venture into the accomodation side of hospitality, was thrown into the lurch, which had a major effect on staffing, support system reliability (such as Head Office/food suppliers/staff payroll) producing a negative effect... Premier Travel Inn - Preston East
Review of Premier Travel Inn Preston - East, Preston by  kismet

Advantages: close to the motorway, cheap
Disadvantages: TOO close to the motorway!

...We have recently travelled up to Scotland from Devon and on the way home needed to break up the 12 hour journey. We stopped at Premier Travel Inn - Preston East. This Travel Inn is literally right beside the southbound motorway near junction 31a northbound. We were travelling Southbound, so had to come off at junction 31, join the northbound and come off at junction 31a. PRICE ++++++ We paid £48 for a room which is Friday to Sunday rates. Monday to Thursday would cost £51. BOOKING ++++++++ We had an AA Road Atlas with us and also a directory of all the Premier Travel Inn's in the country. This is a very handy booklet as it has directions and location for each Travel Inn. I telephoned the Inn and was put through to a central number as they were busy. They took a provisional booking and the Travel Inn called me... Read review

Travel Inn time
Review of Premier Travel Inn Durham (Newton Aycliffe) by  yampy-uk

Advantages: Makes a good base to come back to after a hard days travel.
Disadvantages: Not all are licensed.

...We have just come back from a visit to our family up north in County Durham and we stayed there for two nights in a Premier Travel Inn. This was situated at Newton Aycliffe, which is listed under Durham on the Premier Travel Inn website, and is about 12 miles south of Durham, 20 minutes approximately. It is less than a 2 miles from the A1(M), seven miles north of Darlington on the A167, I have put the full address and telephone number at the end of this review. In the surrounding area, and all within 25 miles of Newton Aycliffe, there are plenty of places of interest to visit such as Beamish Museum at Stanley and Croft Motor Circuit just south of Darlington, Barnard Castle and Raby Castle are close by, and of course there are several places to visit at Durham. The Metro-Centre is about 31 miles north and is our favourite shopping centre... Read review

Travelling in the UK Try Travel Inn instead
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by  JHubbard

Advantages: Reasonable cost, clean, predictable, widely available.
Disadvantages: Basic, lack some facilities.

...I live a fairly nomadic lifestyle and with family situated all around the UK - in Bristol, Cornwall, Liverpool, Norfolk to name but a few places, I find myself zipping frequently here, there and everywhere. With a family of my own, it is sometimes just not convenient or possible to stay with family. So what do I do? Enter Travel Inn. I was sceptical at first - approximately £42 for a night for the whole family almost anywhere in the UK - seemed like a bargain compared with what I was used to paying - there had to be a catch. Except there wasn't! Travel Inns offer basic accommodation of good standard for up to 2 adults and 2 children in one room at about £42 per night. I believe this is a real bargain - although prices in major cities (especially London) can be higher. Rooms are pretty basic and usually very clean... Read review

Premier Travel Inn Dumfries, best by far
Review of Premier Travel Inn, Dumfries by  skrg28

Advantages: Rooms, Cheap price, staff
Disadvantages: None

...I stayed at the Premier Travel Inn in Dumfries just over four years ago for three days and once for a night a couple of years ago. The first time round it was on a Thursday night arrival for a long weekends partying in preparation for my wedding on the Saturday. We were getting married in a castle just up the road but felt that the Inn offered the ideal cost savings for family and friends to gather before hand and just have a darn food time. COST At the time I paid £39 per room. That's not bad at all for two people sharing. The Inn at that time had just under 50 rooms and was located just of the main roundabout as you enter Dumfries just of the A75. It offered closeness to Dumfries town centre whilst being 20 odd minutes from the main motorway to the north and south of the country. I think Carlisle is about 30 miles down the road... Read review

Travel Inn Style
Review of Travel Inn Manhattan, New York City by  KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Convenient Location, Reasonable Costs, Clean
Disadvantages: No in house restaurant

...As I prepare for my trip to New York this upcoming week I decided to review the previous hotel that I stayed in for a long weekend in November back in 2003, The Travel Inn. I was not originally meant to be staying at the Travel Inn as I had booked the four of us into the Hotel Newton which was located on 2528 Broadway and had a 1 star rating and at the time I did not realise how far this hotel was located from the Times Square area, and on arrival we were all beginning to worry about the distance to all the tourist facilities. On this occasion we were lucky, due to problems with existing guests we arrived at the hotel to check-in only to be told that there was no room and we were being transferred to a better hotel in a better location......BRILLIANT!! The Travel Inn was our next location and the Hotel Newton even paid for us... Read review

PREMIER TRAVEL INN - OXFORD CENTRAL
Review of Premier Travel Inn, Oxford by  kismet

Advantages: close to the city
Disadvantages: close to the traffic

...This particular Premier Travel Inn is situated on the Oxford Business Park. It is just off the A4142 on the junction with the B480 and it is opposite the Rover Works, 3 miles from Oxford city centre. My husband originates from Wallingford near Oxford so we travel up that way occasionally to see old friends and family. We were finding it more and more difficult to find a reasonable B&B for the night. Most of them in that area are £60 upwards for a room. BOOKING ++++++++ We booked our room online. This was very easy to do. You find the hotel that you want, then check availability. You can then choose the type of room that you want and reserve it. You only pay for the room upon arrival and it can be cancelled as close as 1pm on the day that you arrive. You can check in after 2pm and do not need to vacate until 12pm... Read review

TRAVEL INN - CAN BE EVEN BETTER VALUE
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by  GREENSILLM

Advantages: Sites are normally near to a pub
Disadvantages: Do Not Widely Publicise Their Discount Card

...I have used several budget hotel chains such as Travel Inn, Travel Lodge, Wether Lodge (JD Wetherspoons, Holiday Inn Express and prefer the Travel Inn chain, most of their hotels are situated near to a pub so you are able to get a drink and food easily. These chains all offer the same standard rooms at roughly the same price around £40. Tip: Holiday Inn Express normally offer a buffet breakfast Toast Rolls, ceral Etc. In addition most chains offer regular discounts Travelodge have a web site where rooms start at £20.00 - I would recommend a visit to the site prior to booking. The Travel Inn chain have a web site but I have never seen any discounts however, discounts are available using a discount card you can apply for in Whitbred pubs - It is basically for familys (But you can say you have a couple of kids) and you... Gatwick Travel Inn
Review of Travel Inn, Gatwick by  mjrobert

Advantages: Close to terminal, cheap, flexible check-in
Disadvantages: not connected to airport, limited parking

...card. This added a sense of security to the building as you knew that nobody could just walk into the lift and act as if they were staying there. The room was typical of a Travel Inn in concern of features (ensuite bathroom, satellite tv, hairdryer, trouser press etc.) but the rooms were slightly larger than I had expected and very comfortable, also WiFi internet access was present. After staying in the Hilton Gatwick last week I would say that the Travel Inn actually had a larger room and was more tastefully decorated (all Travel Inns are currently being refurnished). The Travel Inn had a 'Slice' bar and restaurant intergrated into it, breakfasts and other meals could be had here. Whilst nearby the hotel (hidden behind trees) was a garage/general shop where you could buy general goods. There is the option of taking a bus from... Read review

It has to be a Premier Travel Inn!
Review of Premier Travel Inn, Lincoln by  ben27

Advantages: Cheap comfortable room
Disadvantages: location

...When i needed some where to stay in Lincoln I decided on the Premier Travel Inn after checking other hotels around Lincoln i thought this would be the best. I'd stayed in Premier Travel Inns before,so I knew they were comfortable rooms and i was looking forward to my stay. The location was not the best i'd seen, i don't really know Lincoln apart from the city centre so I was expecting it to be in the city centre however i found that this wasn't the case. The hotel is away from the city centre so you can't get to and from the hotel without a car/taxi which is a big downside. Luckily i was driving so with the help of The AA route planner and some friendly Lincoln people i found my way to The Premier Travel Inn, Canwick Hill, Lincoln. However if i was not driving you'd have to get a taxi there as it is not within walking distance... Read review
