Value for Money
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Day's Inn by ashford

Advantages: Convenient locations. Fixed price per room
Disadvantages: Lack character of older hotels

...Inn ***Days Inn Waterloo *** Days Inn Glasgow All the hotels have modern, stylish, bedrooms with en suite bathroom,Satelite TV,tea and coffee making facilities, and up to date contemporary furnishings.Prices per room start from around 45 pounds, which given the quality of the facilities, might be considered reasonable. All of the Days Inn hotels serve continental breakfast.Car parking is a breeze at the hotels and most of them are well signposted and fairly easy to find. The plus side is their location ,ease of parking, and transparency as regards pricing. Their principal competitors include the likes of Travel Lodge, Travel Inn and Formule I. Not everyone ,of course, like staying in branded chain hotels and some travellers might prefer to pay a little extra for individuality and character. For busy businessmen and families on a tight budget... Read review

Value for Money
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by ashford

Advantages: Value for Money. Transparent Pricing.
Disadvantages: Lunch and dinner must be obtained elsewhere

...Britain is a Johnny-come-lately to the brand-name budget hotel concept which basically offers value-for-money,consistency and transparent pricing. Long established in the United States by groups such as Express by Holiday Inn,Sleep Inn,Days Inn and in France by FormuleI,part of the Accor group,it is only comparatively recently that the UK has witnessed a mushrooming of such hotels. Ten years ago there were only about 6,000 rooms in low-cost branded properties, today there are more than 40,000 operated by companies such as Express by Holiday Inn with well over 50 hotels, Sleep Inn, Travelodge with more than 200 hotels, Days Inn, FormuleI with ten hotels and the largest British limited service chain, Travel Inn. Owned by Whitbread the brewers,Travel Inn has in excess of 13,000 rooms in more than 250 hotels the length and breadth of Britain... Read review

TRAVEL INN - CAN BE EVEN BETTER VALUE
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by GREENSILLM

Advantages: Sites are normally near to a pub
Disadvantages: Do Not Widely Publicise Their Discount Card

...I have used several budget hotel chains such as Travel Inn, Travel Lodge, Wether Lodge (JD Wetherspoons, Holiday Inn Express and prefer the Travel Inn chain, most of their hotels are situated near to a pub so you are able to get a drink and food easily. These chains all offer the same standard rooms at roughly the same price around £40. Tip: Holiday Inn Express normally offer a buffet breakfast Toast Rolls, ceral Etc. In addition most chains offer regular discounts Travelodge have a web site where rooms start at £20.00 - I would recommend a visit to the site prior to booking. The Travel Inn chain have a web site but I have never seen any discounts however, discounts are available using a discount card you can apply for in Whitbred pubs - It is basically for familys (But you can say you have a couple of kids) and you will receive a 20... Travel the country in comfort
Review of Travel Inn (Liverpool) by charlie25

Advantages: Inexpensive
Disadvantages: None

...Travel Inns are the best cheap hotel chain in the country. There are approx. 250 of them around Britain including ones in prime spots such as central London, the middle of Leeds and seaside towns like Blackpool and Brighton. A large proportion of the Inns have been built in the last 10 years and as a result are still shiny and new. However even with the older Inns the quality is consistently good. They are always clean and modern. The layout of the Inns and the bedrooms is near enough the same anywhere you go even down to the pattern on the bed covers and make of television. All bedrooms have 2 very comfortable double beds, one is usually a bed settee, and cots can be provided for babies. There is an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. The showers are absolutely brilliant, very powerful and an endless supply of hot water... Read review

Cheap and cheerful
Review of Travel Inn, Tower Bridge, London by leematthews

Advantages: Cheap, consitant standard throughout chain
Disadvantages: Sited near heavy traffic routes

...Spread across the country like butter on toast, Travel Inn’s are by far the cheapest and best value for money hotels I know-which is thanks to their ‘room for a night’ pricing structure, whereby you pay for the room, not for the amount of people – and prices start at around £40. I have visited many Travel Inns in my time, ranging from Tower Bridge in Central London, to Taunton and the Lake District, and travelling as a family of 3, I certainly appreciate their good value and consistent high standard throughout the chain. Most Travel Inns have been built in the last 10 years, meaning they are modern, and have all the appliances you would expect from a hotel – TV, kettle, bath/shower, towels, telephone – and the bedside bible. The hotel building itself also has facilities for the business traveller... Read review

The Inn Is Out
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by LostWitness

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Basic

...I was bored one evening last week and as I sat flicking through a Travel Inn directory, I worked out that in the last ten years, I have stayed at over 30 different Travel Inns. After that sobering thought, you would think that I might have a few things to say about Travel Inns – and you’d be right. THE CONCEPT Whitbread Travel Inns were first set up in the 1990s, in a direct move to open up the hotel accommodation market. Working on the same simple principle as American motels, The Whitbread Group wanted to provide a chain of instantly recognisable hotels, where things were kept simple, functional and cheap. The concept has been a huge success with over 300 Whitbread Travel Inns now in operation and countless competitors such as Travelodge and Premier Lodge coming on to the market. Travel Inns are without a doubt, very consistent. Any... Read review

A VIRTUAL DISAPPOINTMENT
Review of travelinn.co.uk by LostWitness

Advantages: Good search facility
Disadvantages: Online booking is not advanced enough

...As a regular business traveller, I normally arrange my entire hotel and travel arrangements through a travel agent. Quite often, finding a good deal and arranging the details can be a relatively time-consuming process, and at a corporate level a travel agent will very often be able to secure better discounts than an individual. However, recently I have been required to arrange bookings for a large party of guests, and in order to keep costs down, and to find hotels that will be able to accommodate 20+ persons, I have tended to use the Travel Inn chain. The centralised booking service is facilitated via their web site www.travelinn.co.uk and here is an overview of what works, and what doesn’t. ABOUT THE SITE The Travel Inn web site is intended to act as a portal to all Travel Inn related services. From the company’s web site... Read review

Much more for your money than Travel Innl
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Holiday Inn by janehammill

Advantages: a bar ,restaurant and complimentary breakfast
Disadvantages: need more of them ,restaurant closes early

...Holiday Inn express hotels offer great value for money for a comfy stopover when travelling in the UK. Priced at around £40.00 per room per night I can't fault them, I only wish there was more of them but they are beginning to spring up in more and more places. Rooms very comfortably accommodate 2 adults and a child, they are clean, bright, spacious enough and have the usual TV,ensuite tub room, tea and coffe making facilities etc. What sets Holiday Inn above it's rivals is the complimentary continental breakfast of unlimited toast ,rolls and preserves, fruit, yoghurt and tea and coffee. At Travel-lodges you are forced to usually cross a busy car park or service station to be rewarded with a very unexciting and rip off Little Chef for your wake-up cuppa. Additionally, Holiday Inn express also have a bar at each property so you can have... Read review

Premier Travel Inn - Preston East
Review of Premier Travel Inn Preston - East, Preston by kismet

Advantages: close to the motorway, cheap
Disadvantages: TOO close to the motorway!

...We have recently travelled up to Scotland from Devon and on the way home needed to break up the 12 hour journey. We stopped at Premier Travel Inn - Preston East. This Travel Inn is literally right beside the southbound motorway near junction 31a northbound. We were travelling Southbound, so had to come off at junction 31, join the northbound and come off at junction 31a. PRICE ++++++ We paid £48 for a room which is Friday to Sunday rates. Monday to Thursday would cost £51. BOOKING ++++++++ We had an AA Road Atlas with us and also a directory of all the Premier Travel Inn's in the country. This is a very handy booklet as it has directions and location for each Travel Inn. I telephoned the Inn and was put through to a central number as they were busy. They took a provisional booking and the Travel Inn called me back to confirm... Read review

Great cheap hotel for breaks & business
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Express by Holiday Inn by Fantasyman

Advantages: Clean, Cheap,
Disadvantages: Few facilities

...and comfortable. Unlike Travel Inn hotels there is no a restaurant attached to Holiday Inn Express hotels, so you will need to go out for food. However there is a small bar which will sell alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. Included in the room is continental breakfast. This is a self service range of croissants, toast, cereal, tea, coffee and orange juice. I don’t like fatty food, so prefer this to a full English Breakfast but some people prefer the fatter alternative. The main advantage of the Holiday Inn Express hotels are you know what you are going to get, some smaller family owned hotels may offer better value but you take more of a risk. Holiday Inn Express hotels are similar to Travel Inn hotels, however Travel Inns do not include breakfast in the price. Overal I recomment Holiday Inn Express hotels for short breaks away...
