CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL -acceptable accomodation

Advantages: cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: not classy but perfectly adequate overnight, but bed not good

...CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL 268 FULHAM ROAD LONDON SW10 9EW 10 min walk from Fulham Broadway tube, same to Earls Court I stayed on Saturday 25 October 2008 because of its (reasonably) close proximity to Earls Court where I was attending an exhibition. There was another similar rated hotel behind the underground station but it was reported to be very noisy and I thought a 10 minute walk from hotel to destination would be refreshing, which it was. This hotel is on a busy main road on the corner of a junction, but inside the big old building you were not really aware of this. I think the hotel just had about 14 rooms in total, so not a busy place. The hotel receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and efficient. The room was clean and bright, and although I booked a single, they were all occupied and I was given a double...

Travel Lodge, Slough

Advantages: location
Disadvantages: basic

...Staying at the Travel Lodge in Slough is a good option if you have to stay overnight after a long flight and don?t want to pay through the nose for hotels in the Heathrow airport area. Slough is also close to Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures. We stayed at the Travel Lodge in June, 2002. The double room we had was basic, but we didn?t expect anything else for 50 pounds a night. Our room wasn?t facing a busy road so that was a bonus. What we had was a double bed (with a duvet), a desk and chair, telephone, hairdryer, tea/coffee-making facilities, TV without a remote control for some reason. The bathroom with shower was fairly clean. Breakfast was OK, full English or continental. There?s a bar with a TV next to the dining-room, so we could enjoy our breakfast and watch the recent football match at the same time. We...

Lodge in the Forest

Advantages: Central location in New Forest, swimming pool
Disadvantages: kids not like food

...The Forest Lodge Hotel was built in 1820 and was used as a hunting box by King George IV. The hotel retains much of its Georgian architecture and stands in its own grounds. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Lyndhurst in the heart of The New Forest in Hampshire. It is part of a chain of 4 hotels that come under the banner of New Forest Country House Hotels. This means that each hotel can be centrally booked and have the same cost and promotions. The guests have use of the other hotels' facilities but this is not that relevant as, even though they are all in The New Forest, they are not exactly round the corner from each other and anyway the facilities are much the same in them all. My family, including two small children, stayed half board within a midweek break promotion. This meant that the children were accommodated...

Arebbusch Travel Lodge

Advantages: Ideal base in Windhoek, very easy access to the centre of town, lovely chalets and friendly service. Campsites can be dusty, but plenty of shade.
Disadvantages: Busy road outside the gates, but you can't have everything!

...South of the city, but within easy distance to the centre of Windhoek, this charming travel lodge is an ideal base for both families and independent travellers. We much preferred here to anywhere in the centre of town, mainly due to being able to come through the manned gates and shut ourselves away in our lovely chalet. These are clean, spacious and quiet, the kitchens are moderate, but the showers are a godsend. And a double bed goes down a treat after weeks of camping! The staff are friendly and professional in reception and the restaurant . Be patient with Namibian time however - it's far slower than anywhere back in the UK and anyway, why rush in a country of such awesome landscapes - things will get done and happen....eventually! I have also camped here and found the sites lovely, as anywhere in Namibia they can get...

Top class hotel in South Devon

Advantages: great rooms, nice staff, fantastic food, lovely gardens
Disadvantages: can be expensive and surrounding roads v.narrow

...OVERVIEW: I recently returned from a week long trip to Cornwall. To breakdown the amount of continuous driving that I would have to do we decided to stop overnight in Devon on the way back. The Buckland Tout Saints Hotel is situated in Goveton in the heart of the south Devon countryside, two miles from Kingsbridge. The hotel itself is a sixteenth century manor house, containing sixteen bedrooms. The original building is over 300 years old, but the hotel and rooms have been modernised several times and the décor is sensational. It is set in 4.5 acres of grounds and is said to be one of the top 200 hotels in Britain. We booked the hotel through lastminute.com and believed it to be a three star hotel, we were therefore very surprised upon arrival to have the main doors opened for us and our cases sent straight up to our room. The hotel is...

An English Man & An Irish Woman walk into a hotel

Advantages: Location, Service, Design, Pure luxury
Disadvantages: Expensive, Quite secluded location you'll need transport

...This is my second Hotel review in a matter of days, but I'm still trying to find the balance of useful detail and boring everyone to sleep. In September 2006 My Wife and I (it's starting to sink in now!), got married at the Clandeboye Lodge in Bangor Northern Ireland. As I spent a good few days in and around the Hotel I think I have gathered enough information to put something together! ~~~~Location Ok, so I guess the first thing is to explain where the Clandeboye Lodge is! The Clandeboye Lodge is situated in County Down, Northern Ireland, about 20 minutes from George Best Belfast City Airport. This means that it is only a few minutes from Bangor and within comfortable distance from Belfast City Centre. This is a good and a bad thing at the same time. If you are staying at the Clandeboye it is worth making sure that you...

Plenty of room at this Inn- Innkeepers Lodge

Advantages: inexpensive, know what to expect, good bedrooms
Disadvantages: not very many of them

...Innkeepers lodge is a chain of hotels that have some branches over the country. There are not very many of them,(about 70) and more are being built, but if there is one where you want to stay, they are certainly worth a visit. They are ususally out of the city centre and you would need a car to get to most of them, but many are near to railway stations. www.innkeeperslodge.co.uk Is where the website is located so you could look up whether there is one near where you want to go. SO WHAT DO YOU GET AND WHY SHOULD YOU STOP??? The room styles may differ from lodge to lodge, but what you can expect re facilities and standards are the same throughout. When you're away from home, you want to be comfortable, and here Innkeepers Lodge is very good. Each room has been designed to provide a warm and relaxing environment and you...

Appledore - a jewel in the Devon crown

Advantages: Friendly people, lovely views, quaint cottages, summers
Disadvantages: Bit of a ghost village in the winter

...and wonder where we were going from there. We were both living in Northampton then, not our home town but one we'd become accustomed to. My brother was the first to make the brave decision to up roots and move to North Devon. After all the bereavements this was another for me as we're close and I knew I'd miss him a great deal. He found a house in Clovelly and within a very few weeks had packed up his house and his family and after an emotional farewell, moved on. Life carried on and we stayed in touch regularly by phone. He and my sister in law would often have a little nag to try and get me to move closer to them and I'd consider it but the sensible side of me shuddered at the thought of all the hassle involved. My second oldest son (he was grown up and had left home) decided he would move down and lodge with my brother and after...

Diamond review  More of a Championship Travel Inn.

Advantages: Good sized rooms, available throughout the UK
Disadvantages: Variable service, you pay for the room and not the number of beds, poor heating and cooling controls in the rooms

...~Summary~ If you need somewhere to stay for a short period than you could try out Premier Travel Inn, they have a good coverage in the UK and rooms are available at short notice even in peak season. The service is sporadic throughout the country, but in my experience you will get better service the further north you go. The heating available in the hotels is okay, but the rooms can be cool in the winter and too warm in the summer. ~Introduction~ Premier Travel Inn (formerly known as 'Premier Lodge' and 'Travel Inn') is a chain of hotels across the UK normally based in and around metropolitan centres, but equally found in other places just off the nearest main road. There are currently 464 hotels available with 15 in Wales, 49 in Scotland and the rest in England. They are easily spotted as they have a big purple sign with 'Premier...

Give Castle Lodge the Dodge

Advantages: A historical building
Disadvantages: disappointing and spoilt by the owners

...CASTLE LODGE It was a family day out in Ludlow and whilst I was sitting resting on the bench, waiting for my hubby to return from checking the car and the parking fees, I noticed this really old Tudor style house opposite and on closer inspection discovered that it was open to the public. We didn?t go in straight away, but I did drop a big hint like, ?I want to go in there before we go home? to the family, so that they would not be surprised after the visit to the castle that we went in here. After we had a lovely lunch in the café situated next door to the lodge after a amazing trip around the castle. We were all in high spirits and enjoying our food and refreshments, I dropped the bombshell that I wanted to see the house, they did try to dissuade me as they were now getting slightly tired and wanted to do a little retail...
