...Staying at the Travel Lodge in Slough is a good option if you have to stay overnight after a long flight and don?t want to pay through the nose for hotels in the Heathrow airport area. Slough is also close to Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures. We stayed at the Travel Lodge in June, 2002. The double room we had was basic, but we didn?t expect anything else for 50 pounds a night. Our room wasn?t facing a busy road so that was a bonus. What we had was a double bed (with a duvet), a desk and chair, telephone, hairdryer, tea/coffee-making facilities, TV without a remote control for some reason. The bathroom with shower was fairly clean. Breakfast was OK, full English or continental. There?s a bar with a TV next to the dining-room, so we could enjoy our breakfast and watch the recent football match at the same time. We...

Arebbusch Travel Lodge

Advantages: Ideal base in Windhoek, very easy access to the centre of town, lovely chalets and friendly service. Campsites can be dusty, but plenty of shade.
Disadvantages: Busy road outside the gates, but you can't have everything!

...South of the city, but within easy distance to the centre of Windhoek, this charming travel lodge is an ideal base for both families and independent travellers. We much preferred here to anywhere in the centre of town, mainly due to being able to come through the manned gates and shut ourselves away in our lovely chalet. These are clean, spacious and quiet, the kitchens are moderate, but the showers are a godsend. And a double bed goes down a treat after weeks of camping! The staff are friendly and professional in reception and the restaurant . Be patient with Namibian time however - it's far slower than anywhere back in the UK and anyway, why rush in a country of such awesome landscapes - things will get done and happen....eventually! Give Castle Lodge the Dodge

Advantages: A historical building
Disadvantages: disappointing and spoilt by the owners

...CASTLE LODGE It was a family day out in Ludlow and whilst I was sitting resting on the bench, waiting for my hubby to return from checking the car and the parking fees, I noticed this really old Tudor style house opposite and on closer inspection discovered that it was open to the public. We didn?t go in straight away, but I did drop a big hint like, ?I want to go in there before we go home? to the family, so that they would not be surprised after the visit to the castle that we went in here. After we had a lovely lunch in the café situated next door to the lodge after a amazing trip around the castle. Review of Castle Lodge, Ludlow

Lovely lodges and amazing hot tubs!

Advantages: Nice lodges, fantastic hot tubs!
Disadvantages: Surrounding area not so good

...at the supermarket and cooked it in the lodge. This was the only downside to our stay, as it is nice to stay somewhere where there are some nice pub-restaurants or places to eat which are not too far away or within walking distance, but to be honest it did look a little run down. So bear in mind you do have to travel a little further afield to Musselburgh to find some decent restaurants and bars. We did also drive to Edinburgh and had a lovely day there, but to be honest we were quite happy spending our evenings in the lodge, and the hot tub! I had to drag myself out of it as it was so relaxing! I would recommend Drummohr as a good place to visit for a short break to chill out and relax, and would go back again. It's just a shame the surrounding area isn't as nice, but it didn't bother us too much as we still had a lovely, quiet relaxing break...

...As this week is half term we decided to drive to Manchester to visit relatives. Unfortunately our relatives don?t have space to allow us to stay overnight so I set about looking for somewhere reasonable to stay. I knew we wouldn?t be spending much time in our hotel so I really only wanted somewhere comfortable to sleep. Looking through my emails I was interested to read one from the Martin Lewis money saving site(see my earlier review for more info) telling me that Travel lodge would be offering rooms for just£10 the next day. I got up early to visit the Travel lodge site. The site was very easy to navigate and a selection of £10 rooms was indeed on offer in and around Manchester. ...During my recent trip to Southern Africa, which took in a trip to Namibia, I was recommended the Roof of Africa by the company that organised my trip around the Sossusvlei. I wanted to stay somewhere comfortable, and the Roof of Africa was, they assured me a very comfortable place to stay. And for my needs for the two nights (either end of my safari) it was. I expect I got a discounted rate since it was booked through the tour group and I paid NAD 590 (approx GBP 50) per night including breakfast. I headed to the hotel straight from the airport by taxi - I could have ordered a taxi collection service from them but decided not to. Pastures Lodge, We keep going back for more!

Advantages: Great family atmosphere, play areas, good choice of food
Disadvantages: Often very busy!

...The Pastures Lodge is a family pub/restaurant that my family and I have been visiting on a regular basis for a fair few years. Its situated on Pastures Road, Mexborough which is a few miles outside of Doncaster. We live quite near to the centre of Doncaster and it takes us about 15 minutes by car to get to the Pastures. The Pastures is owned by Paul Shane of Hi-De-Hi fame and occasionally he can be spotted propping up the bar. The main reason we visit the Pastures is for a family meal out at a place where the children can let off some steam. The Pastures has an indoor play area and a smaller outdoor play area. ...CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL 268 FULHAM ROAD LONDON SW10 9EW 10 min walk from Fulham Broadway tube, same to Earls Court I stayed on Saturday 25 October 2008 because of its (reasonably) close proximity to Earls Court where I was attending an exhibition. There was another similar rated hotel behind the underground station but it was reported to be very noisy and I thought a 10 minute walk from hotel to destination would be refreshing, which it was. This hotel is on a busy main road on the corner of a junction, but inside the big old building you were not really aware of this.
