Lodge in the Forest
Advantages: Central location in New Forest, swimming pool
Disadvantages: kids not like food
...The Forest Lodge Hotel was built in 1820 and was used as a hunting box by King George IV. The hotel retains much of its Georgian architecture and stands in its own grounds. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Lyndhurst in the heart of The New Forest in Hampshire. It is part of a chain of 4 hotels that come under the banner of New Forest Country House Hotels. This means that each hotel can be centrally booked and have the same cost and promotions. The guests have use of the other hotels' facilities but this is not that relevant as, even though they are all in The New Forest, they are not exactly round the corner from each other and anyway the facilities are much the same in them all.
My family, including two small children, stayed half board within a midweek break promotion. This meant that the children were accommodated...

Travel Lodge, Slough
Advantages: location
Disadvantages: basic
...Staying at the Travel Lodge in Slough is a good option if you have to stay overnight after a long flight and don?t want to pay through the nose for hotels in the Heathrow airport area.
Slough is also close to Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures.
We stayed at the Travel Lodge in June, 2002. The double room we had was basic, but we didn?t expect anything else for 50 pounds a night. Our room wasn?t facing a busy road so that was a bonus. What we had was a double bed (with a duvet), a desk and chair, telephone, hairdryer, tea/coffee-making facilities, TV without a remote control for some reason. The bathroom with shower was fairly clean.
Breakfast was OK, full English or continental. There?s a bar with a TV next to the dining-room, so we could enjoy our breakfast and watch the recent football match at the same time. We...

Arebbusch Travel Lodge
Advantages: Ideal base in Windhoek, very easy access to the centre of town, lovely chalets and friendly service. Campsites can be dusty, but plenty of shade.
Disadvantages: Busy road outside the gates, but you can't have everything!
...South of the city, but within easy distance to the centre of Windhoek, this charming travel lodge is an ideal base for both families and independent travellers. We much preferred here to anywhere in the centre of town, mainly due to being able to come through the manned gates and shut ourselves away in our lovely chalet. These are clean, spacious and quiet, the kitchens are moderate, but the showers are a godsend. And a double bed goes down a treat after weeks of camping! The staff are friendly and professional in reception and the restaurant . Be patient with Namibian time however - it's far slower than anywhere back in the UK and anyway, why rush in a country of such awesome landscapes - things will get done and happen....eventually!
I have also camped here and found the sites lovely, as anywhere in Namibia they can get...

Give Castle Lodge the Dodge
Advantages: A historical building
Disadvantages: disappointing and spoilt by the owners
...CASTLE LODGE
It was a family day out in Ludlow and whilst I was sitting resting on the bench, waiting for my hubby to return from checking the car and the parking fees, I noticed this really old Tudor style house opposite and on closer inspection discovered that it was open to the public. We didn?t go in straight away, but I did drop a big hint like, ?I want to go in there before we go home? to the family, so that they would not be surprised after the visit to the castle that we went in here.
After we had a lovely lunch in the café situated next door to the lodge after a amazing trip around the castle. We were all in high spirits and enjoying our food and refreshments, I dropped the bombshell that I wanted to see the house, they did try to dissuade me as they were now getting slightly tired and wanted to do a little retail...

Lovely lodges and amazing hot tubs!
Advantages: Nice lodges, fantastic hot tubs!
Disadvantages: Surrounding area not so good
...at the supermarket and cooked it in the lodge.
This was the only downside to our stay, as it is nice to stay somewhere where there are some nice pub-restaurants or places to eat which are not too far away or within walking distance, but to be honest it did look a little run down. So bear in mind you do have to travel a little further afield to Musselburgh to find some decent restaurants and bars.
We did also drive to Edinburgh and had a lovely day there, but to be honest we were quite happy spending our evenings in the lodge, and the hot tub! I had to drag myself out of it as it was so relaxing!
I would recommend Drummohr as a good place to visit for a short break to chill out and relax, and would go back again. It's just a shame the surrounding area isn't as nice, but it didn't bother us too much as we still had a lovely, quiet relaxing break...

Southampton Hilton
Advantages: Helpful and considerate reception staff
Disadvantages: Off-hand restaurant staff.
...On the whole we enjoyed our short stay at this hotel and the reception staff were extreemly helpful and pleasant. We are Gold VIP Hilton Honours members and we enjoy the little extras that our loyalty usually brings. We are entitled to an upgrade to an executive room and can use the facilities of an Executive Lounge if the hotel has one. Southampton does not have an executive floor but the receptionist made sure we were given several extras to compensate. She sent a bottle of wine and a small box of handmade chocolates to our room along with bathrobes and bottles of water. We were impressed! The room was quite a good size and it was clean and nicely decorated, if a little dark. We didn\'t eat dinner in the hotel so I can only comment on the breakfast. There was a wide range of hot and cold choices but the scrambled egg had run...

Disney's Wilderness Lodge: Welcome Home
Advantages: A hotel brimming with personality and themed to perfection
Disadvantages: Expensive. But you get what you pay for.
...of staff in the hotel seems to have been touched by that famous Disney attitude. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and I cannot give them enough praise. The hotel oozes that unique mix of fun, imagination and sophistication that can only be found in a Disney hotel.
THE ROOMS
The facts will tell you that Wilderness Lodge has 728 rooms in total, including a separate building built in 2002 called the Wilderness Lodge Villas, offering studios and one and two bedroom apartments as part of the Disney Vacation Club Scheme. There is a good variety of different types of rooms depending on your individual needs (e.g. travelling as a couple or with a family), all decorated in the same charming Pacific Northwest theme as the rest of the hotel. All rooms offer the amenities that you would expect (television, hairdryer, safe, and so on...

For a bargain night !
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...As this week is half term we decided to drive to Manchester to visit relatives. Unfortunately our relatives don?t have space to allow us to stay overnight so I set about looking for somewhere reasonable to stay. I knew we wouldn?t be spending much time in our hotel so I really only wanted somewhere comfortable to sleep.
Looking through my emails I was interested to read one from the Martin Lewis money saving site(see my earlier review for more info) telling me that Travel lodge would be offering rooms for just£10 the next day. I got up early to visit the Travel lodge site. The site was very easy to navigate and a selection of £10 rooms was indeed on offer in and around Manchester. I choose to stay at the Manchester airport Travel lodge as this was the most conveniently placed for our visit. The total cost for a family room sleeping...

Southampton - A Great Day Out!
Advantages: Attractive, historic, yet modern, and the sun seems to shine more
Disadvantages: It can be a bit chilly by the water
...is a small museum documenting the TITANIC down by the main docks and Southampton has some fantastic ruined walls, which you can walk around. If you're interested in Art Southampton has a City Art Gallery, which spans 6 centuries of European History and attracts up to 90,000 visitors a year.
If your living in Southampton then why not travel slightly out of town to The New Forest which is only a short Bus journey (or car trip) away, sightsee in the Historic town of Winchester which is just north on the M3.
Parking and accessibility:
Southampton has various parking stations each with varying tariffs. West Quay and Marlands both offer Multi Storey car parks and the Retail Park offers free parking for 2 hours. Other areas such as the Swimming Pool offer free parking though limited but most parking stations and on street parking is...

Park Lodge
Advantages: Friendly, close to family attractions. Close to transport. Cheap
Disadvantages: Buses can sometimes be noisy.
...Park Lodge Guest House
122 Summergangs Road
HU8 8LP
http://www.parklodgehull.com
Ok, so firstly a little about this place to set the scene?
Park Lodge Guest House is situated in Hull, East Yorkshire, just off one of the main roads running from the town centre. It gets it name from the large park next door, which is a great place and I will talk about it in a bit.
It has been operating as a guest house for about 20 years, but just over 1 year ago it was down-sized. It used to have 11 guest bedrooms, and was comprised of two large houses and a smaller building, but the other main house was sold, and the smaller building converted.
The people who run the show are Malcolm Purcell, the proprietor, and his partner Marie Moverley. Also I help out on the weekends, and am usually the person called if something goes wrong, (they...
