HOME COMFORTS or NOT IN LUCCA
Review of Da Elisa Alle Sette Arti, Lucca by
poshtroika
Advantages: Cheap and Location
Disadvantages: Not Onsuite and no breakfast
...The Quatro Fontanas or the Fountain Travel Club stayed in this Hotel (perhaps better decribed as Bed Guest House)
The first thing it is very cheap in price two nights for Double Room thru Bookings.com would be about £60. You can also see photos of the Rooms on that site)
Now I have said it is Cheap and no breakfast ,DONT TURN OFF JUST YET, it does have other attributes.
First you have to find the place.
We arrived as most do by Train from Pisa where we had flown into. The Airport at Pisa is only 3 miles from the Railway station, then about 35 mins on train to Lucca.
You come out of the station at Lucca and are faced with what they call the Meadow. This is a grassy park area that lies outside the WALLS, yes WALLS. These you have to either Get over or walk round to one of the main gates. Lucca is a BEAUTIFUL WALLED TOWN.
We went over...

This is what we all have been waiting for
Review of Final Fantasy Chronicles (PSX) by
a_leeming
Advantages: Its FF and CT what can i say?
Disadvantages: it's FF and CT what is wrong with them?
..........
Yeah, I know, I left you hanging. Well I can't tell the whole story for you.
Chrono Trigger's battle system contains a really cool option letting you use combination attacks with each of the characters in your party. For example, If you have Crono and Lucca in your party, you can perform an attack called ''Fire sword'' in which Lucca sets Chrono's sword on fire, and they attack the enemy together. You can have many different combination attacks with each people you have in your party. This is great fun. Easily one of the best battle systems ever crafted.
Final Fantasy 4's battle system is a standard turned based one, in which Cecil and his companions have the option to ''Attack'' or to use ''Magic'' or to use ''Item'' etc... This is your standard turned based fare, and It suits the game fine.
Whew! I'm done rambling about...

Nothing To See Move On
Review of Pisa (Italy) by
polydeuces
Advantages: Some attractions, that tower
Disadvantages: Compared to many Italian cities not that much 2C
...inaccessible or were covered by tarpaulins as Italy prepared many of its famous sites for the Millennium celebrations. The tower has been closed for some time to protect it and whilst work was conducted to support the structure and to stabilise its ‘lean’. This work is now drawing to a close and soon it will be possible to walk up the tower again. The tower does now have a cable supporting it but this does not detract from the beauty of it.
To visit all Pisa’s attractions would not take more than half a day. My tip would be if you are visiting by car then travel about 50 kms inland and spend the other half of the day in Lucca which is a beautiful historic walled city....

Lucca revisited
Review of Lucca (Italy) by
friedagaric
Advantages: Cycling around the city walls
Disadvantages: Parking
...Ah, holiday memories. We stayed just outside Lucca in a lovely converted farmhouse with a beautiful pool surrounded by olive and oleader trees and stunning views of the mountains.
Lucca itself has the beautiful circular Piazza Anfiteatro at its centre, where 4 or 5 storey terracota and yellow painted buildings curve around enclosing you in another world. Cafe tables around the edge let you sit and watch the world go by.
The whole city is surrounded by a huge, very wide 16 th century city wall. We hired bicycles and cycled around the tree-lined pathway that runs along the top. From here you can catch glimpses of the narrow little streets within where much of it is pedestrianised, apart from the obligatory mad moped riders!
Lucca also has a tower with a large tree growing from the top and another even taller tower next...

See How the Garden Lies
Review of Gardens of Villa Garzoni by
proxam
Advantages: Stunning. Well worth visiting
Disadvantages: Short of its former glories
...My wife is the keen gardener in this partnership. I don't mind it, but I'm not fanatical (not that she is either mind you). However, we both quite enjoy visiting gardens while on our travels, especially when the weather is nice. And when we were in Tuscany last year, the weather was very nice. But nice weather and a pretty garden would not, on their own, have driven us to visit VILLA GARZONI (actually, we were driven by me) in the stunning hill-top village of Collodi, 17km north-east of Lucca.
Sound familiar? Carlo Lorenzini, the author of Pinnochio, grew up here and used Collodi as a nom-de-plume. Honest. Would I lie to you?
But that's another story.
Collodi is a spectacular little town that spills down the side of the hill like a gushing cascade - though it's rather drier. There's a castle at the pinnacle of the settlement, but Villa...

Two Of The Greatest Games Ever In One Package
Review of Final Fantasy Chronicles (PSX) by
HardCoreGamer2k2
Advantages: Two Of The greatest games ever in one package
Disadvantages: Somewhat Harsh Loading Times
...original in my opnion, but I think Marle and Ayla could have used more work. Chrono and Frog are my two favorite characters, Frog is bright colorful green, while Chrono has dark red hair.
Story 4/5
The story is very original, this is the first time I have ever seen time travel implemented into an RPG. There aren't really a whole lot of plot twists though, and some areas seem predictable.
WARNING: This Paragraph Contains Massive Spoilers
The game is about a boy named Chrono that lives in a peaceful small village. Chrono runs into a girl one day at a fair, and Chronos friend Lucca has just invented a teleportation device, so the girl Chrono picked up (Marle) tries it out and is warpe to another time period. Thus begins Chronos time travel adventures.
Control 4/5
While not quite as good as FF4, the control of this game is pretty good. You can...

A Tuscan Delight
Review of Tuscany (Italy) by
alexhillier1
Advantages: Everything for a relaxed, away from it all break.
Disadvantages: Not for small children or those with walking difficulties
...Where to start? Pisa airport where my wife and I landed on the start of our Tuscan adventure no frills quick baggage reclaim and out into the glorious sunshine. We decided to take a taxi to our destination instead of waiting for the service bus that runs regularly from Pisa to Lucca. Our driver was unfamiliar with the village of Santa Maria del Giudice, where our apartment was located, but he was friendly and helpful and finally got us there. The apartment was up a set of narrow stairs and on two levels, a kitchen, bathroom and small living room/bedroom with a double bedroom on the mezzanine above. Outside was a small terrace with a table and chairs that was sunlit throughout most of the day. Cozy, comfortable with all that was required to look after oneself. The village itself is just off the main road from Pisa to Lucca and boasts 3...

Pescaglia a lil' country in the state of Lucca
Review of Tuscany (Italy) by
giannit
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...As you get further away from the road flanking the river Serchio towards the valleys of torrent Freddana and Pedogna, you will enter the municipal territory of Pescaglia. Pescaglia was first mentioned in a ninth-century document. As early as the fourteenth century, it already had its own podesta and took part in the procession of Santa Croce di Lucca with a flowered candle.
The village retains many traces of its mediaeval past; particularly noteworthy are the parish church, the town hall, "the Madonna della Solca", also called "Madonna of the Pebble", a very ancient fresco venerated in a little oratory north of the village.
The present municipality includes some typical villages full of quite interesting Romanesque churches and towers: Fondagno, Gello (with a beautiful Romanesque belfry and an ancient baptismal basin font), Castel...

Italy by Rail
Review of FS Ferrovie dello Stato (Italy) by
womble
Advantages: Good network
Disadvantages: Sometimes a bit confusing
...'t (even if you plead ignorance)
You can buy local tickets at tobaccanists or newsagents if the queue at the ticket counter is too long - or if this is a bit intimidating, almost all Italian train stations have useful machines that sell tickets and give timetable information in a variety of languages (English included!).
If possible, ask specifically if you need to pay a supplement when you buy the ticket.. they might not tell you if you don't ask
Avoid station cafes... if at all possible and never use the toilets in the station at Lucca (just trust me on this!)
And... this is the crunch.. when trains arrive in stations in Italy, they often display where they have come from, rather than where they are going to. ALways check you have got on the right train - ask someone.. even if you can't speak Italian, just say the name of the place you...
