Traffic Dodge at Travelodge
Review of Travelodge London Battersea, London by
trevorbrock
Advantages: Brilliant prices at present
Disadvantages: A bit of a walk from the station
...I need to be in London three or four times a year, and have yet to find someone who will give me free bed and board! - any offers?? - So each visit involves a scouring of flight times and costs, followed by an online hunt for cheap accomodation.
Travelodge at Battersea in November was quite a find, and I've already booked for the next two visits - so how's that for a recommendation - not that everything was perfect - but I'll explain a bit later.
1 Location
************
Online maps of the area on the Travelodge Site were only marginally helpful in pinpointing the hotel's location. And knowing that the address was 200 York Road was only partially helpful. Neither spelled out the quickest route from Clapham Junction Railway Station.
The hotel is siutated about 7 minutes walk away - so long as you choose the right exit from...

Look out for Travelodge deals
Review of Travelodge London Covent Garden,, London by
007addict
Advantages: Location, and the breakfast
Disadvantages: Expensive and very basic, small rooms
...I stayed here in August 2007 and it cost us £15 a night per room. Everyso often travelodge do these deals on their website, but you have to check them fairly often as once they come out they get sold out quickly. The normal price is £95 per room and at this price I would not have been happy with the room, central London or not. In total we had 3 rooms between us (each was the same price) and each varied. One of the three had a bath while the others just had a shower (extremely powerful though). My double room was very, very small. There was literally just enough room for a standard double bed and two side cabinents, the usual slim sideboard with just enough space to walk between that and the bed and a tiny wardrobe at the end. The shower room had a loo and sink and was clean. The standard tea and coffee was there...

Travelodge 1 night only
Review of Travelodge Camberley, Camberley by
HotBlonde
Advantages: Cheap, clean, Free parking & Local
Disadvantages: Staff & Food
...Travelodge Camberley - 7th July 2007
As we were going to one of my best friends wedding in July we decided we needed to book somewhere close to the event. As the wedding was being held at Sandhurst Chapel in Camberley the nearest place was a Travelodge Hotel on London Road. It was only about a 5 minute drive up the main road. I went on line to book all the rooms we needed for my family and my other friends family. The web page is very easy to follow and it was all complete in a short matter of time.
I decided to write a review on this Travelodge as it was very clean but lacked in other areas which could easily be rectified.
************Travelodge History **************
I'll give you a quick low down on the company’s Profile:
In the 1980s, Lord Forte bought the US Travelodge brand and established it in Britain. He attached...

I'VE FOUND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
Review of Travelodge London Kings Cross, London by
nathaninnit
Advantages: Checkin was needlessly annoying
Disadvantages: Apparently doest bookout, as just experienced with a test booking
...* 200 YARDS FROM THE TRAIN STATION
This past weekend saw myself and three friends embark on a trip to London, the reasoning behind it was actually to attend the auditions taking place for Big Brother at the Emirates Stadium, and for some reason this led us to staying at the Kings Cross Travelodge.. I'm not sure if it was actually the closest place to stay considering where we wanted to go, but it was supposed to be close to the train station nonetheless. Apparently there are two Travelodge's in close vicinity to the Kings Cross train station, 'the main hub for London, right?' Those two Travelodge's are Kings Cross and Kings Cross Royal Scot, looking at the pictures it appears they would be difficult to get mixed up as the latter seems to have a much more up to date exterior - I never saw it infront of my eyes, to my knowledge, so it...

So much for nostalgia
Review of Travelodge London Covent Garden,, London by
ajfoster
Advantages: Location, friendly staff
Disadvantages: No ghosts or phones, too many doors, scruffy interior, website refused credit card
...Hotel chain. It was a job I hated, but it gave me the opportunity to spend six months in London. After making beds and cleaning up after guests 26 years before, it would be a hoot to return as one myself. Unfortunately, the place has taken a change in direction since the days Grand Met had it. The property has been sold twice since I worked there and it is now a part of the Travelodge chain. I know what the Travelodge London Covent Garden was before. The inside of the building now shows wear and tear, gives motel style service, and at £85 per night, is certainly not worth paying its full asking price.
BOOKING MY ROOM AND GETTING THERE
Before leaving California last July, I had planned on winging most of my accommodations during my trip, but I knew I had to have a booking prepared for my arrival in London. It's one of the first...

Location, location, location
Review of Travelodge London Ilford, London by
natty250
Advantages: Ideally situated for easy travel into London
Disadvantages: Unfriendly staff, basic amenities
...For my 21st birthday my partner took me to London for 2 nights and 3 days, primarially to go and see "We Will Rock You" at the Dominion Theatre. London is not a cheap place to visit, and we are currently operating on a reasonably tight budget, so we wanted something that wasn't too expensive to get to, and that was of a good enough quality for 2 nights, yet was cheap. After a lot of searching around on places like laterooms.com among others we came accross this Travelodge.
< Travelodge, The Company >
Travelodge is the UK's fastest growing hotel chain, and currently operate 318 UK hotels (with more in Spain and Ireland). Quoting from their website they say "At Travelodge, the Hotel revolution doesn't stop with just the price. We've carefully designed our hotels to give you all the things you need without having to pay for things...

Special offers on the Travelodge website
Review of travelodge.com by
tequilachica
Advantages: Great rates, ergonomically designed website, a reputable hotel chain
Disadvantages: It is difficult to search for offers on multiple night stays
...The Travelodge website is a goldmine when it comes to finding affordable stopovers or short breaks in the UK. All rooms are reasonably priced, and internet rates are exclusive - you won't find the rooms cheaper if you book by phone or at the hotel itself. By far the best thing about the site are the periodic deals it offers - in the last few months, there have been rooms available for £10 and even £5. I managed to book a week's accommodation in Brighton for just £35. (A friend who has just returned from a gap year in Argentina tells me it cost him more for a week in a hostel!)
One small(ish) word of warning: there is no denying that these deals are fantastic, but booking them is not as easy as it sounds. For a start, the number of reduced rooms is limited to a set number at each hotel, which ensures that they sell out quickly...

Cheap thrills
Review of Travelodge London Battersea, London by
badongism
Advantages: Cozy rooms, great service, fantastic value
Disadvantages: Can be a bit noisy outside
...As part of a 7 night stay in London, my colleague and I stayed in 3 hotels across London to take advantage of the Travelodge £19 a night deal.
I'm a regular user of Travelodge hotels and I like to think I know a fair bit about hotel standards, having been a housekeeper for 2 years. Travelodge is an openly no-frills hotel chain. They widely promote the fact that they don't provide things such as toiletries, hairdryers and the like because people don't usually need them, and it means they can keep costs down. So what you get for your money is a very basic but very clean and modern hotel room for a low price. I think this is the ideal setup - if you're staying in a hotel, it's because you need somewhere to sleep in between your travels. I stayed in The George hotel in Edinburgh and it was so nice I didn't want to leave, which cut...

Lying In At Liverpool Street
Review of Travelodge London City, London by
trevorbrock
Advantages: Location and cost
Disadvantages: Not everyone likes Travelodge
...Travelodge used to be a moderately priced, sedate brand that you could spot on or near motorways, catering for the family on their way to grandmas, or the business traveller saving a few pounds on the normal hotel rate.
Things have changed, and the brand now can be found in 316 locations with more coming along at the rate of about 20 per year.
Many are far from the motorways, and more of them, like the Liverpool Street one, are in City centres.
1 Location
++++++++
Location in London , may not seem all that critical to the occasional visitor. After all, you can always hop on a bus, or catch a nearby tube.
Having used other hotels in Vauxhall and Clapham, I have discovered it is not just as easy as that. Choose badly and you might have to wheel your Gucci look-alike case several hundred yards from the nearest public transport...

No Queue at Kew
Review of Travelodge London Kew Bridge, London by
trevorbrock
Advantages: Quiet location and great value on the special offers
Disadvantages: It is basic lodge accomodation
...virtually paid to stay here.
Well it was not quite that good. But this was a Travelodge £29 saver for a double in London. The only cheaper stay would be with family or friends - and family was away and friends are scarce - that's another story.!
I paid extra for a buffet breakfast in the morning, and there is a charge for parking in the underground car park - but I was walking.... another story.
2 Usual, usual, usual
There was no queue at the Kew desk.
The check-in was the usual travelodge desk with polite, cheery staff, efficient computer system, and helpful advice on where to eat.
The room was the usual travelodge room, with a view over the Thames - ( if you opened the window, have a neck as long as a giraffe and swivel it round 90 degrees !)
The fittings were Travelodge usual, with the basics being clean and tidy, but no real frills...
