One Night In Manchester....

Advantages: Cheap, Central Location
Disadvantages: Broken Windows/Bathrooms, Dirty Rooms, Unfinished Decor

...Having treated my husband to tickets for WWE's Monday Night Raw Live at Manchester Evening News Arena (MENA), it came about that I'd also have to book accomodation as we didn't want to drive back late at night. After a great experience of Travelodge in Oxford, I decided that, as we were only staying one night in Manchester, a Travelodge was ideal. I booked our room thorugh the Travelodge website, there was a choice of 3 hotels in and around Manchester City Centre, this one being the closest to MENA, so at a rate of £50 per room, per night, I decided to book a double, non smoking room. Using the web booking was easy and no payment needed to be taken at the time of booking, a credit or debit card number plus personal details and a home address was all that was needed to secure a booking. My booking was quickly confirmed by e-mail along...

Manchester Outskirts or Manchester Central?

Advantages: Good location,cheap price,clean
Disadvantages: nothing really

...As a fairly regular customer of Travelodge,i stayed here with my partner in January and the room cost us £26 per night for a family room which was very good value for money. Of course i had to book this 14 days online but for this price,it represented great value for money. The hotel itself is called Manchester Central which is sort of deceiving really because it is actually in Salford which is not part of Manchester since it is a seperate council authority. None the less it is approx 5 mins walk from Market street and the Arndale Shopping centre. Manchester Piccadilly station is about a 15 minute walk which isn't too bad at all-especially sicne Manchester is quite a flat city with few hills. The room itself was pretty good as it was very large and had lots of room. Yes it is a family room but i've been in family rooms which were...

Come Stay at the Travelodge Wolverhampton

Advantages: Pretty Cheap, Clean
Disadvantages: Dodgy Swipe cards, misleading room images on website

...Limehouse Lizzy were playing in Wolverhampton, so, as my boyfriend?s house was an expensive taxi ride away and it was valentines we decided to make a weekend of it. (Yes, in Wolverhampton: P) We booked online (http://www.travelodge.co.uk/searchandbook) and chose the saver rate, it is cheaper but non refundable should you have to cancel. The rooms are all standard images on the website but can be much different as we found out when we stayed in the Oldham Travelodge a few months later. This one had been taken over from a once fancy hotel and was quite run down. It was clean but not exactly modern. The booking process is simple the site takes you through room requirements and an extras page. Some of these can extras can be expensive. You have to register with the site when you book, but it doesn?t take too much time. Despite...

Travelodge Droitwich

Advantages: A great place to stay
Disadvantages: None really

...When we were having some work done to our home, we found ourselves in absolute chaos. It was so bad it wasn't even liveable, so we decided to up sticks and pack a couple of bags and escape for a couple of nights. We have a few 'posh' hotels near our home in Worcestershire, all of which were out of our budget so we opted for our local travelodge in Droitwich. The Travelodge in Droitwich is conveniently situated just off Junction 5 of the M5 in Worcestershire. When exiting the motorway simply head down the A38 (Rashwood Hill) to Droitwich town centre and it is located around 1/2mile down this road on the right hand side. It is also just two miles from Droitwich train station too. For those with a sat nav system the postcode for this Travelodge is WR8 0BJ. The lodge is situated in quite a quiet part of Worcestershire and although you...

Travelodge Ashford

Advantages: Quiet and comfy
Disadvantages: Car Park

...We arrived at the Travelodge late in the evening, so it wasn?t the bustling place you?d normally associate with a Travelodge. First impressions were that this lodge was quite a bit larger than any others I?d stayed in, but since it was the closest to the Channel Tunnel that wasn?t really surprising. The car park, although large, was fairly packed, and we managed to grab two of the last few spaces available, but these were a long way from the door, so it was a bit of a trek with overnight bags. Something we could have easily done without after sitting in a car for just over 9 hours. Once in the Travelodge, there was a bar and eating area to the right, but this was fairly empty with just couple of people say at the bar. A lone receptionist was very pleasant, but took an absolute age to find our booking on the system. She had to go...

Cheap and Cheerful

Advantages: Good value for money, excellent staff
Disadvantages: There is little to do in the immediate vicinity, no car park

...I spent 4 nights at the Travelodge Manchester Ancoats in July 2008, staying in a Family Room. Location This particular Travelodge is reasonably well located on the main A665 road, however it does not have a car park. It is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria railway stations and it will take you no longer than 10 minutes to walk to the Arndale Centre or Piccadilly Gardens, where you can find buses and trams heading all over the Greater Manchester area. The area around the hotel isn't particularly salubrious however and there's a distinct lack of bars and restaurants nearby - you are better heading towards the Arndale if you are feeling hungry, although I did find a fairly decent sit down fish and chip shop about 5 minutes walk away. The Hotel Travelodges are cheap and basic...

TRAVELODGE - Manchester Sportcity Value for Money?

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, coffee/tea making facilities, ensuite, low cost
Disadvantages: Noisy, poor service

...As a yearly trip the girls from work always decide to plan a saturday night out in Manchester and I always get landed with the role of sorting out our overnight accommodation, after checking out our normal destination of the Travellodge Blackfriars road, I saw an offer for rooms for just 26pounds. After discussing the travel arrangements (requirements were car parking spaces, close to city centre) we decided that rather than pay the rate of 54.95 to stay in central manchester we would opt for the cheaper version in sportscity. The hotel itself was an uppdated travellodge surrounded with black metal security gates which to be honest did not look all that welcoming but at least we knew it was secure parking, there were plenty of space around the building to park and upon arrival we parked to the rear of the travellodge before we all...

Travelodge Leatherhead

Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Hard to find, no parking, items missing from rooms

...Our night in the Travelodge in Leatherhead turned out to be quite a stressful occasion. Finding the Hotel This is where the stress began, according to the invoice printed off from Travelodge, simply typing the postcode into a satnav, or onto an online route planner will be sufficient. Unfortunately this directs you to a shopping centre car park. As we arrived approximately 11pm on a Saturday, this car park was obviously empty, and there was no one around to ask directions. So we drove a little further on and spotted a Dominoes Pizza takeaway that was still open. They allowed me to look at the map and pointed out the way around the town?s one way system. So off we went again, we followed the directions and ended up on a pedestrianised way, but there were other vehicles using it, and seemingly after certain times the pedestrian...

Bradford Travelodge - I do!

Advantages: Basic but good budget accommodation; easy for non-drivers to get to
Disadvantages: A little way from centre of city; no breakfast other than packaged tray type

...Plans for a weekend break to Bradford (yes, really) arose from a Travelodge promotion in which room prices started at just £5 a night. I was looking for ideas for the OH?s birthday and wanted a destination that wasn?t too far away and where the Travelodge wasn?t in the middle of nowhere; Bradford seemed possible. Although I wasn?t able to get the cheapest rate, I was happy enough with a charge of £19 per night for the room. While this Travelodge isn?t ?in the middle of nowhere?, neither is it in the centre of the city. However, as curry was to be the central theme of the weekend, and the hotel is situated in the suburb of Thornbury which has many highly recommended restaurants, I didn?t mind too much that the location wasn?t central. There were frequent buses to the city centre, a journey that takes only ten minutes and New Pudsey...

Travelodge Ashford : Good Value

Advantages: Good travel links, good location
Disadvantages: Rooms could have done with updating

...I stayed at this hotel for two nights either side of a trip to France in October 2008 and found it to be a decent hotel for the purpose of our trip. We had stayed at a Premier Inn the previous year and didn't particularly like it, so based on a previous stay with Travelodge we decided to book with them. I had done some research and the hotel itself was located on a leisure park just off the motorway. It has a Little Chef, KFC, Frankie & Benny's and Pizza Hut for food and a cinema, health and fitness club and a couple of nightclubs for entertainment. I liked the idea of staying somewhere where there was several choices for food within walking distance, which was not too far from the ferry port at Dover. We arrived at about 7pm when there was quite a lot of activity, people coming in and out, but we were checked in quite quickly...
