In times of need, think Travelodge

Advantages: Super, 24hr service, cheap, cheerful, clean, lovely!
Disadvantages: Car park was overflowing!

...We stayed at the Travelodge Oxford in March of this year. We had had to come from Cardiff to John Radcliffe Hospital as my Grandmother had had heart surgery, from which she sadly died very soon afterwards. As it was 3am and faced with a tearful then fiancee, my better half, Andrew, decided it would be best for both of us if we stopped, got some sleep and resetarted our journey afresh in the morning. Heading back to our route home through Oxford, we came across the Peartree roundabout with a Holiday Inn and Travelodge on the roundabout. At first, we wanted to go for Holiday Inn, we parked up, got out, went to the door which was locked but there was no night porter/night receptionist or anyone on duty to help us, we stood around for 15 minutes before turning on our heels and back to the car, we then drove over to Travelodge, where we...

Come Stay at the Travelodge Wolverhampton

Advantages: Pretty Cheap, Clean
Disadvantages: Dodgy Swipe cards, misleading room images on website

...Limehouse Lizzy were playing in Wolverhampton, so, as my boyfriend?s house was an expensive taxi ride away and it was valentines we decided to make a weekend of it. (Yes, in Wolverhampton: P) We booked online (http://www.travelodge.co.uk/searchandbook) and chose the saver rate, it is cheaper but non refundable should you have to cancel. The rooms are all standard images on the website but can be much different as we found out when we stayed in the Oldham Travelodge a few months later. This one had been taken over from a once fancy hotel and was quite run down. It was clean but not exactly modern. The booking process is simple the site takes you through room requirements and an extras page. Some of these can extras can be expensive. You have to register with the site when you book, but it doesn?t take too much time. Despite...

Travel Lodge, Pear Tree, Oxford

Advantages: budget price, but clean accomodation and helpful staff
Disadvantages: not enough parking spaces for busy times

...Have stayed here a few times when visiting my sister in Oxford. Always booked online which is really easy to do, and if you book early enough which I try to I have been lucky enough to book at the supersaver rate of £10 (this has now gone up to £15) but still really really good value. Its usually around £45-£50 if you book at the last minute. The hotel is clean and the reception neat and inviting. The staff are welcoming and helpful and in the reception are 3 vending machines one with essential items like toothbrushes, shampoo, razors etc, (just in case like my husband you forget to pack a toothbrush!!) a drinks machine, and a snack one as well. The first time I stayed I took my daugher with me and arrived quite late at night and asked for a travel cot. No problem, one was quickly placed in my room. The rooms are clean and tidy...

Travelodge Droitwich

Advantages: A great place to stay
Disadvantages: None really

...When we were having some work done to our home, we found ourselves in absolute chaos. It was so bad it wasn't even liveable, so we decided to up sticks and pack a couple of bags and escape for a couple of nights. We have a few 'posh' hotels near our home in Worcestershire, all of which were out of our budget so we opted for our local travelodge in Droitwich. The Travelodge in Droitwich is conveniently situated just off Junction 5 of the M5 in Worcestershire. When exiting the motorway simply head down the A38 (Rashwood Hill) to Droitwich town centre and it is located around 1/2mile down this road on the right hand side. It is also just two miles from Droitwich train station too. For those with a sat nav system the postcode for this Travelodge is WR8 0BJ. The lodge is situated in quite a quiet part of Worcestershire and although you...

Travelodge Ashford

Advantages: Quiet and comfy
Disadvantages: Car Park

...We arrived at the Travelodge late in the evening, so it wasn?t the bustling place you?d normally associate with a Travelodge. First impressions were that this lodge was quite a bit larger than any others I?d stayed in, but since it was the closest to the Channel Tunnel that wasn?t really surprising. The car park, although large, was fairly packed, and we managed to grab two of the last few spaces available, but these were a long way from the door, so it was a bit of a trek with overnight bags. Something we could have easily done without after sitting in a car for just over 9 hours. Once in the Travelodge, there was a bar and eating area to the right, but this was fairly empty with just couple of people say at the bar. A lone receptionist was very pleasant, but took an absolute age to find our booking on the system. She had to go...

McDonald's of Motels

Advantages: cheap, comfortable bed, decent bathroom
Disadvantages: nowhere to get food from apart from teh Little Chef, nasty pillows

...Oxford. The Holiday Inn would have just worked too expensive for a family of four, so we eventually booked a night in the Travelodge and eventually ended up staying there for four days. We booked online, as we usually do just a day before traveling, and thus paid the full rate of £60 per night - but it was still less than two thirds of what any other place was offering. For that, we got a family room with a normal double bed and a sofa with a pull-out for the children. Travelodge is a chain of cheapo motels, they have 300 sites all over the UK. They operate on the principle of Everything you need and nothing you don't and they claim to keep things simple and consistent because we understand that all you want is a restful place to sleep. These are certainly admirable principles for many a utilitarian or family trip, and particularly...

Travelodge Leatherhead

Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Hard to find, no parking, items missing from rooms

...Our night in the Travelodge in Leatherhead turned out to be quite a stressful occasion. Finding the Hotel This is where the stress began, according to the invoice printed off from Travelodge, simply typing the postcode into a satnav, or onto an online route planner will be sufficient. Unfortunately this directs you to a shopping centre car park. As we arrived approximately 11pm on a Saturday, this car park was obviously empty, and there was no one around to ask directions. So we drove a little further on and spotted a Dominoes Pizza takeaway that was still open. They allowed me to look at the map and pointed out the way around the town?s one way system. So off we went again, we followed the directions and ended up on a pedestrianised way, but there were other vehicles using it, and seemingly after certain times the pedestrian...

Bradford Travelodge - I do!

Advantages: Basic but good budget accommodation; easy for non-drivers to get to
Disadvantages: A little way from centre of city; no breakfast other than packaged tray type

...Plans for a weekend break to Bradford (yes, really) arose from a Travelodge promotion in which room prices started at just £5 a night. I was looking for ideas for the OH?s birthday and wanted a destination that wasn?t too far away and where the Travelodge wasn?t in the middle of nowhere; Bradford seemed possible. Although I wasn?t able to get the cheapest rate, I was happy enough with a charge of £19 per night for the room. While this Travelodge isn?t ?in the middle of nowhere?, neither is it in the centre of the city. However, as curry was to be the central theme of the weekend, and the hotel is situated in the suburb of Thornbury which has many highly recommended restaurants, I didn?t mind too much that the location wasn?t central. There were frequent buses to the city centre, a journey that takes only ten minutes and New Pudsey...

Holiday Inn, Oxford (Peartree Roundabout)

Advantages: Modern, great location, excellent facilities
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if not booked through a deal

...approximately £14-15 per person, per day. The restaurant is also open for evening meals. The waiting staff are always exceptionally attentive and service is very quick. The menus change often but there is guaranteed to be something to everyone's taste. The food is always well cooked and delicious. Again, prices are comparable to restaurants in the City Centre, but you have the benefit of not having to travel. Parking and Travel into the City Centre The hotel offers free parking - unlike the Travelodge next door which charges per car per day - and there are always plenty of spaces. At night the car park is well lit and feels secure. The hotel is a five minute walk from the Peartree Park and Ride. The double decker buses are very regular and will drop you right in the centre of Oxford, just off Cornmarket. Parking in Oxford itself, if you...

Travelodge Ashford : Good Value

Advantages: Good travel links, good location
Disadvantages: Rooms could have done with updating

...I stayed at this hotel for two nights either side of a trip to France in October 2008 and found it to be a decent hotel for the purpose of our trip. We had stayed at a Premier Inn the previous year and didn't particularly like it, so based on a previous stay with Travelodge we decided to book with them. I had done some research and the hotel itself was located on a leisure park just off the motorway. It has a Little Chef, KFC, Frankie & Benny's and Pizza Hut for food and a cinema, health and fitness club and a couple of nightclubs for entertainment. I liked the idea of staying somewhere where there was several choices for food within walking distance, which was not too far from the ferry port at Dover. We arrived at about 7pm when there was quite a lot of activity, people coming in and out, but we were checked in quite quickly...
