...Ah, holiday memories. We stayed just outside Lucca in a lovely converted farmhouse with a beautiful pool surrounded by olive and oleader trees and stunning views of the mountains. Lucca itself has the beautiful circular Piazza Anfiteatro at its centre, where 4 or 5 storey terracota and yellow painted buildings curve around enclosing you in another world. Cafe tables around the edge let you sit and watch the world go by. The whole city is surrounded by a huge, very wide 16 th century city wall. We hired bicycles and cycled around the tree-lined pathway that runs along the top. From here you can catch glimpses of the narrow little streets within where much of it is pedestrianised, apart from the obligatory mad moped riders! HOME COMFORTS or NOT IN LUCCA

Advantages: Cheap and Location
Disadvantages: Not Onsuite and no breakfast

We arrived as most do by Train from Pisa where we had flown into. The Airport at Pisa is only 3 miles from the Railway station, then about 35 mins on train to Lucca. You come out of the station at Lucca and are faced with what they call the Meadow. This is a grassy park area that lies outside the WALLS, yes WALLS. These you have to either Get over or walk round to one of the main gates. Lucca is a BEAUTIFUL WALLED TOWN...

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: not a long book - would have loved it to have been longer

...I had read Adrian Mole when I was younger but couldnt really remember it so I decided to give it another go. especially when I realised there are other books in the series. I am so glad I did as there are things in the book that I dont think I would have "got" as a child. He has got to be one of the funniest characters I have ever read about in a a fiction book. He is innocent and wise, observant and obsessed with himself, dumb and a genius. Adrian lets the reader peep into his world through his diary. Aged 13 3/4 he strongly feels he is a 'misunderstood intellectual' and spends most of his time reading. He spends some of his time taking care of a stubborn old man called Bert Baxter & his dog Sabre. He also complains of being malnourished and blames his parents for all his pimples. Advantages: funny without trying to be, some relatable teenage experiences
Disadvantages: the eighties references might seem a bit dated to the modern teenager

If the answer to any of these questions is yes then you have been duped, drawn in my the marketing blurb of the huge multinationals and missed out on the Samsung YP-U3 4GB which at £65 comes in as the best mp3 player I have owned or had the pleasure to use. Available in 3 sizes, the Samsung YP-U3 is priced at £35, £50 and £65 for the 1, 2 and 4GB models respectively and while the smaller memory models are available in a range of bright and funky colours, the 4GB model which I opted for is like a Model T Ford, available in any colour as long as it is black.
