Reviews of traxdata
I like them
Review of Traxdata CD-R 700 MB by
real_rob_writer
Advantages: Work fine for me
Disadvantages: Might not for you
...The world seems to think that Traxdata CD's are useless. I have had problems with lots of other makes, but Traxdata have always been fine for me.
Traxdata have a lot of different CD's on offer, but most people will be familiar with either the 74 or 80 minute CD-R's. They do come in silver and gold varieties but I have only ever used their gold discs. I'm sure someone knows about all the colours but to be honest I have never noticed any difference whether the CD be gold, silver, blue or green.
Whatever you may say about Traxdata CD's, they do pass my quality test (which I must copyright). What you do is bend the CD. Depending on the thickness (and therefore quality of the CD) one of two things can occur. Either the CD will bend but stay in one piece, or the CD will violently shatter (NOTE - Should you try this test be careful...

Cheap but good
Review of Traxdata CD-R 650 MB by
Dooyoo_Rules
Advantages: Good, cheap
Disadvantages: None
...These CD's are cheap, they cost about 70p each from the local computer store but I managed to get a boc of 10 for a fiver via mail order.
They are suprsingly good quality. For a start the CD feels heavy and thick, not like some of the thin rubbish you get. They come in nice sturdy boxes. They are not visibally cheap like other brands.
They write at 4x which is the max speed of my writer, and I haven't had any errors while using them.
You could do a lot worse than Traxdata....

Review of Traxdata CD-R 700 MB by
voodoo
Advantages: 80 minutes
Disadvantages: only in card sleaves
...Is 74 minutes not enough for you? Well these traxdata cd-r's might be the answer I picked up apack of 50 for £25 pounds. The cd's are not in jewel cases but in card sleves instead the cd is a lightt blue backed cd which i allways find are pretty stable. The certified speed on these cd's is up to ten speed so you can burn at high speeds easily. There is a god and siver version but i have found the silver version more than reliable. Overall a good cheap reliable 8 speed 80 min cd....

BURN BABY BURN
Review of Member Advice On Using CD-R and CD-RW Drives by
mdstone
Advantages: CAN BE FAST AND CHEAP
Disadvantages: COASTERS CAN BE REALLY ANNOYING!
...that the quality of the disks used will have a big impact on whether or not 'useless' disks are made.
A vast majority of cheaper CD-R brands are ok to use, so it is just a matter of trial and error. What I have found is that 'Grade A' CD-R's are the best to buy and I have had very little problems with them.
During the days of my Philips CD-RW Drive and my current drive I used a number of different make CD-Rs, and here is what I experienced:
Memorex - One of the best around, no problems.
TDK - More often than not, produced a coaster, I decided to stay away from these.
Kodak - Tended to be really good value for money, no problems.
Traxdata - Another one of the best, very cheap, no problems.
Sony - You would expect quality from Sony, but the disks I bought were awful. They worked ok, but the surface of the disks were frail...

I dont want that blooming PC
Review of PC World (Shop) by
gavin4
Advantages: Great for a browse/lots to look at
Disadvantages: Poor customer service/very expensive
...for some assistance.
I asked the lady in question which of the two she thought was better, in one hand I had a traxdata 8x4x32x=£100 and I had an LG 4x4x32x=£100 in the other hand.
The lady replied with "im not sure I will have to call someone else over to help you" come on this lady is meant to be representing PC world and she doesn't know anything about there products, I waited patiently for about another ten minutes until finally I was greeted by someone asking me how they can help me, I repeated the question and showed the chap the two rewriters, he also stood there and hummed and harred for a bit until he finally came to the conclusion that he didn't know either, so he suggested that I go to the help desk and ask one of the techies.
By this time I was totally pi**ed off, I had spoken to two representatives and neither of them knew one...

Speedy
Review of jungle.com by
debug
Advantages: Speedy delivery
Disadvantages: Hard to navigate
...I ordered some blank cds off Jungle.com, at a very cheap price (50 x 80 minute traxdata for £24!) and chose the free 3-4 day delivery option. They, in actual fact, turned up 2 days later! Excellent delivery time.
Their site though is another matter. It's pretty hard to navigate to what you want, especially the way they've limited the categories.
Nice idea though - and a nice set of stickers than come with the order :-)
I think I may order from them in future, but not for games, or for computer harware. For those purchases I'm more likely to use Game Street and Dabs.com....

It does exactly what it says in the URL...
Review of cdrseller.co.uk by
indiegirl
Advantages: Good quality unbranded items, inexpensive, fast delivery, Friendly service
Disadvantages: Lack of order tracking, items go out of stock quick, Stock changes frequently, limited delivery options.
...includes:
unbranded, Memorex, Traxdata and several other 'branded' media which I haven't heard of (eproformance, bulkpaq to name a few).
DVD-R discs are also available, again branded and unbranded, although I can't personally comment on the quality of these as I don't own a DVD Writer and therefore have no need for them. They seem competitively priced against other websites I've seen though.
... which leads me nicely into...
~ Prices ~
I have found the prices on the website to be simple, easy to understand, and - most importantly - exceptionally reasonable. Quantities of product are displayed underneath a short description of the item along with the price. A price-per-CD is usually mentioned as well, so you can compare the item to other CDs available. The site doesn't comprehensively state that VAT is included, but I've never had...

If You See One Reduced, Buy It
Review of Sony DVPS525D by
BNibbles
Advantages: Picture quality. Cheap if it's still out there
Disadvantages: Choosy over the playing of recordable media
...opinion on the Yamaha CDX-496 CD player and why I bought it)
UPDATE - Thanks to this web-site, http://www.vcdhelp.com/, I have now discovered that it will play certain proprietrary branded CD-RWs, like Traxdata. I can attest to this, having made a trial music disc. It is also reputed to play some CD-Rs but the brand eludes me so far, and since so many of my existing CD-Rs are of doubtful or no brand in particular, this remains a problem for me.
c) Styling. Hmm, another amorphous black box from Sony, but at least it seems well put-together. The remote control is annoyingly similar to the TV's and the VCR's, but it does carry some limited TV functions, and will even control the sound level on a range of remote control amps, not all Sony (it works with my Yamaha)...
