...All Green Day songs have three chords, last about three minutes and are played very fast...but that's what so good about them. They add a lot of spice to the standard pop-punk approach, with some excellent drumming from Tre and intelligent lyrics from Billie Joe. Apart from the big singles such as Basket Case, When I come Around, Welcome To Paradise and Longview, the rest of the tracks don't drop below their par, with She and F.O.D. all sounding like potential singles. Played perfectly with passion and vigour, this is an essential album for anyone who likes to jump around like a lunatic on a hot plate !...

Review of Dookie - Green Day
Advantages: Solid acting, directing and script Disadvantages: Not to be confused for the gangsta, shoot em up fan
...John Singleton's powerful, gritty street drama 'Boyz In The Hood' took the genre to another level. Widely considered to be a modern great due to the harsh realities portrayed, aswell as the realistic settings and events. An impressive cast includes the brilliant Cuba Gooding Jr (Tre), Angela Bassett (Reva), multi platinum selling rapper Ice Cube (Darin, Doughboy), Morris Chestnut (Ricky) and Nia Long who all put in strong performances, but Laurence Fishburne steals the spotlight with an outstanding performance as Tre's father and guide, Furious Styles.
Singleton portrays the common social problems in inner-city Los Angeles, mostly in the view point of a group of friends who grow up together.' Tre moves to the neighborhood at the age of 10 to live with his Father after his Mother decides it would be best for him, due to his poor...

...Trattoria alla Nuova Speranza, can be found by walking to the Arsenale area of Venice Island. We had almost give up finding anywhere to eat in the area we had ventured off the main drag, boulevard Garibaldi which was once a canal but has now been covered over to make the widest street on Venice Island.
One of my favourite dishes is spaghetti opa, which is plain cooked spaghetti tossed in oil, garlic, chillies and parsley. This dish which I have eaten at a restaurant called Tre Spiedi many times, which I am sad to say has in the last year changed hands. I had yet to find it on another menu, so when we found the Trattoria and it was on the menu I thought great.
The trattoria is small and a little dark on the inside, had a warm welcome and a few locals eating or waiting to eat, always a good selling point.
The menu was varied but...

...I truly love this practical album as well as the early album Dookie yet it seems that everyone knows Green Day (Bille, Mike and Tre) because of one there more popular song "American Idiot" which is not surprising with its remember-able lyrics which teenager can get a hold of and throw out with.
Still this album has some great material to listen and enjoy to the full existent of self opinion and meaning, which sort of describes teenagers life and struggles but then again everyone has there own opinion about them.
But true fan will have heard of the Dookie material (in fact I'm sure that nobody outside the Green Day inner circle of fans have ever heard). Yet it's still a pleasure to listen to see just how far they have come and are likely to go. They have changed the style from Dookie but come back with a fresh new sound to bring...
Advantages: excellent lyrics and a solid mix of sounds and ideas. Disadvantages: can at times get a little wrapped up in itself...
...It's been five long years since Green Day re-wrote mass opinion with their 2004 epic American Idiot, an album that saw Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool finger George Dubya as the main target of their burly political frustrations. A rock opus in its own glorious right, ...Idiot channelled all its anger and discontent into an hour plus tirade about the Bush administration, the US media and every little significant detail which Armstrong's barbed song writing chose to centre on. That was five years ago; now Dubya's gone, Obama's moved in and the Berkeley boys have moved on to pastures new - more specifically the mass head-scratching as to just how their homeland recovers from their former leaders lengthy term.
21st Century Breakdown and its 70's style grandiosity centres itself around our two chief protagonists Gloria...
...cries out to be listened to and as you do so it certainly does not disappoint. Green Day definitely succeed with 'She', few times in the bands career have they recorded a sound as fine as this.
The album appears to come to an end with the track 'F.O.D', a decent closing track for the album and one that I believe to be an excellent punk rock anthem. The reason I say that the album 'appears' to come to a close with this track is that there is in fact a hidden track tagged on the end of this one. The track I am referring to is the excellent 'All By Myself', a song performed solely by Green Day drummer Tré Cool. It is an amusing little number with a lyrical subject of masturbation, it provides a nice bit of light relief for the album to end on and is perhaps one of the most memorable final tracks ever. Review of Dookie - Green Day
Advantages: clean beaches with white sands Disadvantages: High rises, over-development
...and the town has a good party atmosphere especially aimed at the backpacking crowd. Beer, wine, spirits and cocktails are available.
As far as sights and activities go, most people spend most of their time chilling out on the crystal clean beaches that run the length of the coast. Bars and restuarants offer shaded recliners for a small charge or on condition of ordering something. There is little shade otherwise on the beach. The sea is clean and inviting but be aware there is a fair current.
There are also numerous islands (some of which can be visited by boat tour) with the most famous as Bamboo or Hon Tre Island. It is a casualty of super-over-development and it's biggest claim to fame as having the world's longest chair lift does not justify a trip to overcrowded hell. One to avoid unless you are a tackiness lover.

...Boyz 'N The Hood.. This one is a pleasure and not a chore to write a review about. Probably one of the best films ever made regarding growing up in the Hood ( Hood meaning lots of shooting and high unemployment ). The movie shows the live's of three friends growing up in this neighbour hood and how they move on to there respected way of life. The main Character in this movie is Tre ( Cuba Gooding Jnr ) It shows how he moves into the neighbourhood as a young child to live with his dad. This is where he meets and befriends two brothers Doughboy ( Ice Cube) and Ricky ( Morris Chestnut ). At this point i must say, Cuba is a fantastic actor, i love his work.. plus some of Ice Cubs movies are a bit silly!! he pulls this one off superbly. It?s a bad sign when the first scene in a film about a wise-cracking black undercover cop is a very poorly directed rip off of the first scene in Beverly Hills Cop. DVD extra. ?Trying? is most definitely the word.
