Great treadmill for the money
Review of York T500 Treadmill by
ruthstewart
Advantages: Sturdy, easily folded away.
Disadvantages: Manual incline
...I bought this treadmill from Tesco Direct about two years ago and it is still going strong.
It sits beside my desk and folds upwards which is great for keeping it out of the way. It is then easily opened using a key on the side and the main belt drops down to the floor.
It has different speeds and also preset programmes which challenge your fitness by speeding up and slowing down at different times.
It is very sturdy and has an emergency cut out switch that you can attach to your clothes and a drinks holder.
The only thing I miss is the incline which you have to adjust manually when treadmill is off but for the money it is a great treadmill....

THE FANTASTIC 'REEBOK I RUN TREADMILL'
Review of Reebok I Run + by
donovan74
Advantages: QUALITY, VALUE FOR MONEY, COMPACT.
Disadvantages: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
...INTRO
After the sudden death of my 7 year old Pro-form treadmill it was time to start looking for something to replace it with but being somewhat out of pocket (probably due to credit crunch/petrol prices) my budget was under £400. I must say I didn't think that I'd be able to get much treadmill for my money.
FINDING A TREADMILL
I started my searching on the Internet with a firm called fitness-superstore http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk, which has a great range of low priced treadmills and I soon became zapped by the latest designs and specifications of the new range of treadmill on the market. As I set my budget at under £400 this helped me to narrow my searching and leave me with 3 possible treadmills that met my needs, the makes were Pro-form, Weslo, Reebok.
After some head scratching I decided that the 'Reebok I RUN...

Taking the first steps to the new, fitter me
Review of Beny Powerstrider Treadmill by
sandemp
Advantages: Exercise for the unfit.....with advanced features for the fitter
Disadvantages: Doesn't remember last session stats | Manual Incline
...I'm overweight and very self-conscious about my size, but I do want to do something about it. For a while I tried using my local gym, but soon felt embarrassed to exercise next to all the other very fit members. So when my ever-loving husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year, I chose a "complete home gym". One part of the gym was this treadmill, which I love using and think is almost as good as the one at the local gym.
---Setting Up---
The treadmill was delivered part-assembled in a large cardboard box. Now, just so you're clear, it takes up a lot of room when assembled and you need even more room during assembly. So if you only have a pokey little area then this is not for you. Assembly was actually very easy, and it took myself and my husband about 30 minutes from opening the box to plugging in. But just don't do...

The Couch Potato Strides Out
Review of LifeFitness 4500HR Treadmill by
Newfloridian
Advantages: An easy to use, heavy duty aid to personal fitness and well being
Disadvantages: Initially costly but otherwise none
....
The Choices
As mentioned above, I was looking for general fitness and stamina activities rather than body building or major weight loss. I am otherwise reasonably fit, modestly overweight and in late middle age. Following my experience of apparatus at the gym, the most comfortable piece of equipment was the treadmill. It was logical that I should choose such a purchase. The static bike would have been similar, the cross-trainer was somewhat too strenuous and I never did get away with the stair type exerciser (too much like hard work).
Rule 1 of regular exercise: be comfortable and happy with the actual apparatus. Work with it and not against it. Get used to it and you will want to come back for more. Exercise should never be seen as a penance – you will soon stop doing it if it is.
I am aware there are many makes of treadmill on offer...

Walking back to happiness
Review of Horizon Sonic II Treadmill by
Youngatheard60
Advantages: Quiet running
Disadvantages: Assembly Instructions
...Why The Horizon Sonic 11
If I am fit I am happy, if I can lose weight I am even happier. The weight is gradually going off from following the Atkins Diet, but I am nowhere near as fit as when I was working. I like walking, but not by myself. We live in the country and around us are so many lonely roads which make me nervious.
I joined the local fitness club, but every time I turned up the treadmills were occupied by people who were determined to do the marathon, so I spent most of my time hanging around waiting. It was rather expensive too.
I decided the only solution would be to get a treadmill of my own. I had two problems, it would have to be stored in the sitting room and it had to be quiet. Hubby likes watching the TV!!! I checked out reviews in Ciao and then looked in Ebay, but I...

Just off for a quick run!
Review of York Pacer 3501 Foldable Treadmill by
kingfisher111
Advantages: able to exercise at home, needs small space
Disadvantages: none
...Ever since the birth of my youngest daughter almost three years ago I seem to have been fighting a battle to lose weight - at times I seem to be winning and at others it's more like I'm losing, but one of the things that definitely seems to have helped was buying my York Pacer foldable treadmill.
I used to be a bit of a gym addict, but with two young children I have neither the time nor the energy to spend evenings at the gym any more! In a moment of desperation, I said to my husband a couple of years ago 'If I can't go to the gym - why not bring the gym to me!' Well it seemed a good idea but of course wasn't practical in terms of space but we did work out that we probably had room for a tredmill!
I did a bit or research and discovered that the York Pacer ws available at a cost of £300! This might seem quite expensive, but when I...

Walk this way
Review of Leslie Sansone Total Strider Treadmill by
SusanLesley
Advantages: East to use, can work at your own pace
Disadvantages: It's exercise LOL!
...I received a lovely present a couple of weeks ago - a Leslie Sansone's Total Strider Treadmill.
It had belonged to my friend's mother who has sadly passed away and he asked if I wanted it. I naturally jumped (or walked) at the chance.
I have done a bit of research and found that the cost of this item when it was new would have been in the region of £120. I don't know if this exact model is still available to buy new but they often appear on EBay at a reasonable price although it is a heavy piece of equipment so it may well have to be collected rather than posted.
The Total Strider comes complete with a leaflet giving comprehensive instructions on how to assemble the Strider, although mine was already assembled I am glad to say as I am hopeless at this sort of thing, a leaflet on how to use the Strider and a DVD showing some...

Simple, Easy to Use, Durable.
Review of Carl Lewis Fitness Mot20 Treadmill by
jabbadal
Advantages: Again - easy to use and lasts and lasts
Disadvantages: Unfortunately won't do the exercise for me, I have to work!!
...Overall, Really pleased with this treadmill.
For the price it is basic but that does mean simple/easy to use and 'does exactly what it says'!
I purchased this treadmill secondhand and it had already been regularly used for 2 years.
The condition on the belt is excellent and takes heavy wear (me and 3 dogs (not at the same time!) really well.
The belt is quite wide and long compared to many.
The digital display requires batteries, but these last well. The console is quite self-explanatry and you can either just push the button to go - up or down speed or you can set in how far/how many calories/ how fast exactly etc. It also has a large stop button, for safety.
It comes with a safety key, which you can attach to your belt and will stop the machine immediately if pulled out.
It also has a pulse monitor which can go on your...

Broken Rear Guards
Review of BH Fitness Pioneer Pro Folding Treadmill by
tzedragon
Advantages: Works
Disadvantages: Broken Rear Guards
...Broken Rear Guards
I am new to treadmills. I am learning to concentrate whilst walking/running, to stay in the middle of the running surface, to keep up with machine!
We have recently gotten a BH Fittness G6446N Pioneer Premium Plug & Run. Purchased sight unseen via the internet.
At the rear of the running deck are 2 plastic guards. I note that this design feature is shared by all of the G6400 series of Treadmills. The guards are held on by friction and one screw, the internal support and plastic casing/body is weak and flimsy.
These guards have not lasted very long and will not take even slight impact. Granted you want to protect the workings of the belt and make the thing look good but they break and are almost impossible to repair. The should be "detachable" and clip on/clip off.
Replacement of each broken guard...

Living Life On A Treadmill
Review of I Don't Know How She Does It - Allison Pearson by
zoe_page
Advantages: Mostly humourous, with some hilarious happenings at parts
Disadvantages: The story has been done many times before
...pace which leaves you almost out of breath at times. Kate lives life on a treadmill, and after reading this you may feel you’ve just clocked up a good few miles yourself. Though, to be honest, it could just have been the fact that I actually read this while on one such piece of equipment at the gym that made me feel that way. At level 6 and speed 5.4 this book clocks up a total of 2000 Calories at the speed I read. Not bad. And I only felt shattered for 3 hours afterwards.
It’s on various best-seller lists at the moment, and seems to be being enjoyed by the masses. Readable and bearable, but perhaps not the best piece of fiction ever written. 3.99 GBP on Amazon UK at the moment. You’ll like this if you enjoy reading Helen Fielding, Sophie Kinsella, Marian Keyes, India Knight and Sabine Durrant. It is girlie, though some...
