Manhatten Island Treasure

Futuristic Treasure Island

Advantages: Great retelling of a classic story
Disadvantages: Might be a bit scary in places for the very little ones

...Treasure Planet, pretty much Treasure Island with a futuristic twist, Jim Hawkins off hunting for treasure. A tale of a young man going from a humble background into a much wider world (or Universe in this case) than he is used to and how he survives on his travels. It's an idea thats inspired movies such as Goonies and this is quite a nicely different retelling of the tale. Anything that involves pirates, mutinies and treasure hunting has got to be good. Visually for sets and location backgrounds it looks excellent and is generally a wonderful adaptation of Robert Louis Stephenson's Treasure Island. I've seen a lot of different versions including The Muppet one but this is by far the best of them all. Loved our stay at Treasure Island

Advantages: Not such a large hotel so easy to find your way round and out
Disadvantages: Truthfully none

...the Tangerine Club where you can watch the pirate show without having to get squashed in the crowds outside. The Tangerine nightclub is good although quite small so gets very packed - not much room to dance. They have a live band with burlesque dancers which is enjoyable. STAFF: The staff at the hotel all seemed pleasant though no exceptional service, some dealers are more chatty than others, but that was the same at al hotels we gambled in. At night they have security at the lift entrances who you have to show your room card to to get through, which makes you feel secure. We both really enjoyed our stay here and if we ever get the chance to go to Las Vegas would definately stay at Treasure Island again....

MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND: A swashbuckling comedy!

Advantages: Fantastic for the entire family!
Disadvantages: Slapstick based comedy can get a tad tirsome for older viewers towards the end.

Advantages: Problem solving and mouse skills practice and attention/observation training.
Disadvantages: Difficult in places for the age range implied.

Treasure Island meets Star Trek

...I went to see this movie a few weeks ago, at a special preview, and I thought I'd better write an opinion before parents rush to take their children during half -term. From the title, you may guess that this film is based on Treasure Island, but it the usual Disney way, it is a little different from the original (mainly it is set in the future). My Box of Fishy Treasures

...My children both like fish cakes, and although we make our own, we normally have a packet of fish cakes in the freezer for when we are in a rush for tea. When visiting Iceland recently, Amber spotted a packet of Iceland Ocean Treasures, which she said she would like to try. The Ocean Treasures are a mixture of white fish and potato, which are shaped into fish and star shapes, and coated with breadcrumbs, a nice variation on normal circular shaped fish cakes. A packet cost £1.39, although Iceland have these on special offer at the moment – 3 for £3.00. As with all Iceland products, Ocean Treasures are free from genetically modified ingredients, artificial colours and preservatives, which makes me more inclined to buy Iceland's own label foods. ...Isn?t it always a nightmare finding a decent hotel when you?re going away? I count my blessings that the trip I won to Vegas recently was accompanied by spending money and free accommodation. Although Vegas has an abundance of hotels it can be quite difficult at times to find one that is not overly priced or fully booked as the town always seems to be milling with people of all different nationalities who head there for short breaks, holidays or day trips to sample the delights of the many casinos, shows and hotel facilities. The Treasure Island is situated in the middle of The Strip and is easily identifiable by the enormous replica pirate ship that bobs up and down on the clear blue water at the front of the hotel.
