...This is an excellant film for all the family.It is the tale of childern who find an old treasure map and set out on an adventure to try and find the treasure.They encounter many obstacles in their path on the trail to find One Eyed Willies loot.As with all Steven Speilberg films the stunts and special effects are outstanding as the childern face hidden dangers on their quest for the treasure. The acting from the childern is wonderful and as with most good family films it has a happy ending.This is good family entertainment but may be slightly scary for the very young... Read review

...I received a phone call from my university student daughter last week commanding me to get myself down to the library and pick up a couple of books by Gina Davidson called “Treasure: The Trials of a Teenage Terror” and the follow up book called “What Treasure Did Next”. My daughter wondered if I was the secret author of these books using a pseudonym as it was as if someone had been a fly on the wall in our house during her horrible teenage years. I dutifully trotted off to the library the next day and picked up both of the books. I then spent the next two evenings doubled up with hysterical laughter and had to keep reading out sections to my other two little “treasures” as they where so intrigued as to what could render me helpless and crying laughing in a heap. ...This is the best 'Indiana Jones,' type of movie I have seen in quite a while. Nicolas Cage is the main character who stars as a treasure hunter. His father and grandfather have hunted for a certain treasure that no-one believes exists, for years and years. Benjamin Franklin(Cage) believs this treasure does exist but his father has grown tired of the endless shattered hopes and has given up his search. Franklin find the best clue of all. The map to the treasure he seeks is written in invisible ink on the back of the old declaration of independance which lies in a museum. Franklin must steal the declaration before his old adversary (Sean Bean) does. Bean seeks the treasure too and is constantly on Franklins tail to achieve this. Advantages: Adventurous plot and quite fun!
Disadvantages: Meant for kids, so limited adult appeal

...This film was part of my childhood, as it was for most of my generation. The film is based around a group of kids living in a doomed part of town, under pressure from high-up land developers. The kids, who are deeply into adventure, locate a treasure map for One-Eyed Willie and his treasure trove deep in the cliffs. So, off they go to try and locate the treasure and save their homes from the developers. Along the way though, they manage to prick the ears of the local crooks which begins a big cat and mouse game to the treasure and the final showdown. The film is brought to life by the lovely effects and the simplicity of the plot. The kids are pretty good actors and with the help of Joe Pantoliano (Cypher in The Matrix) manage to float the film. But none of this is important for kids watching this movie. The adventurous plot appeals... Read review

...This game is excellant and best described as a mix of Indiana Jones and Tomb raider. It is about a treasure hunter on his journey around the globe looking for a mysterious treasure, while he has to battle with other treasure hunters, forign armies, wild animals and death defying leaps and traps and also other terrifying creatures. The treasure hunter is name is Drake, who is a decendant of Sir Francis Drake. He believe he can find a hidden treasure that his ancester hid a long time ago. The game plays out like tomb raider with your expected shooting, running and climbing, but Drake is by no means a super gymnastic athlete like Lara Croft, he is clumsy and fights clumsily like an ordinary man. National Treasure, released in the UK in December 2004, is the latest to hit the big screen. National Treasure is set for the main in modern-day Washington DC. The script was put together by no less than nine witers.including Jim Kouf, Oren Aviv and Cormac & Marianne Wibberley. Of course, there has to be a somewhat feasible story behind the existence of the treasure. The main character, Benjamin Franklin Gates played by Nicholas Cage, is the great grandson of a coachman to one of the Founding Fathers. He discovers the existence of a treasure. ...The American Hotel is part of the Crowne Plaza chain, centrally located near the Liedesplein. It's more than a hotel though, it's a national treasure, with superb Art Nouveau and Art Deco touches both inside and out. The lobby is clean and efficient, belying the architectural treasures hidden within, and if you feel homesick, you can 'rent' a goldfish for the duration of your stay. The staff are attentive and the bar is a delight, lined with celebrity pictures taken in the bar. Our room was large, and luxuriously furnished, with views over the Liedesplein, but despite that we weren't disturbed by the trams. I wouldn't bother with the hotel breakfast, which is a bit overpriced at €15, particularly as it's only a 15-minute walk to the pancake shops at the flower market.... Read review

...This is one of my favourite films. It's absolutely brilliant! It's exciting, adventurous and fun. And it's not just for children! The film is about a group of friends who call themselves "The Goonies", hence the title. They find a treasure map and it reminds Mikey (Sean Astin) of a story his dad told him when he was younger...the story of a Pirate called One-Eyed Willy and his treasure. They Goonies decide they just have to see if the story is true and they follow the map. There is danger and traps on the way. They meet a nasty Italian family (mother and 2 adult sons) who also would like the treasure and they follow The Goonies all the way. If you have not already seen this film then I suggest you do as it's great! :o) They should make more like this, the magic never dies!... Read review

...Sir John Sloane's Museum is a real hidden treasure in London's Lincoln's Inn Fields. Mr Sloan was an architect and avid collector who designed the Bank of England amongst other things. After his death in the 1830's his house full of mummies, Greek statues, paintings was preserved perfectly. If you want to know how an educated and inspired man lived 150 years ago, this is the perfect place. It is quite small and easy to see in a few hours. Entry is free and the staff are very helpful. Make sure not to miss the picture collection.... Read review

...National Treasure has got to be one of the most enjoyable family adventure movies ever created. It can easily compete with Raiders of the Lost Arc. Plot; The story is centered around a treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) who is in search of the treasure hidden by the founding fathers of the United States. The first clue was given to Ben's ancestor Thomas Gates by Charles Carroll the last to sign the decleration of independence by simply saying "The secret lies with Charlotte". Using the help of his computer friend Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) and fianancer Ian Howe (Sean Bean) Ben discoveres Charlotte, a ship buried in the arctics.
