Tour de France technology at Entry level price
Review of Trek 1000 by  tombarnes

Advantages: Value, Carbon Fork and Seat post
Disadvantages: Sora shifters

...The Trek 1000 is an excellent value for money Entry level Road bike. The increasing demand for road bikes is a result of Triathlons huge and continuing success in the UK. There are few bikes in the Market which geniunley consider that ther are those of us out there who don't have a couple of grand to chuck away on a carbon bike, Enter Trek. The 1000 is serious value for money. The frame uses the same geometery as was used for 7 timeTour de france winner Lance armstrong and if it's good enough for him ... However the material is clearly not carbon but Aluminium however the from Fork is carbon and 2006 version also has a carbon seatpost, i beleve they have phased this out in the 2007 edition. The Gear setup is pretty low end. Sora Shifters, Tiagra Rear mech, and shimano standard everything else. However you do get what you pay... Read review

Trek...... This is fast
Review of Trek 1200 by  yackers1

Advantages: fast, light, high spec for cheap price
Disadvantages: None

...to be increased quite significantly to get anything that would last. I spent hours researching, joining forums (I highly recommend Bike Radar) etc in order to find the ideal bike in my budget. Whilst taking my trusty steed of a mountain bike to Pauls Cycles in Dereham I thought that I'd better have a quick look at the small selection of racers in the shop. It was there I saw it…… The Trek 1200 in black and red. I knew the Trek name and knew that they were generally a good, quality brand. That was it though. The price was £799 which was way over my budget, but because it was a 2006 model I could have something knocked off it. The bike was described as 'shop soiled' since it had fallen over and had a tiny scratch on the frame. If the bloke hadn't told me this I would never have noticed it despite looking over the bike thoroughly. This led... Read review

Star Trek The Mag.
Review of Star Trek the Collectors Edition by  nona1661

Advantages: It's Star Trek.
Disadvantages: It's Star Trek.

...One day last week i was in my local shop getting my usual daily stock of cigs and chocolate. I was just about to leave when it caught my eye. A very large piece of cardboard( about the size of 2 A4 sheets of paper) with the words Star trek on it and a magazine and a dvd stuck to it.It had grabbed my attention when i looked furtherer i noticed that it was a new magazine series about star trek. It comes with a dvd of a particular film or tv episode and a magazine about that dvd and it only costs £3.99 (after the first issue the price goes up to £7.99). So being a bit of a star trek fan i decided that this was too good an opportunity to miss so i bought it. For those of yous that don't know about star trek (where have you been for the last 40 years) here is a brief description of what star trek is. Star trek( this is now know as tos... Read review

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Review of Star Trek - The Motion Picture DVD by  phurren2006

Advantages: The entire main cast from the TV show return
Disadvantages: It is very slow

...---------------- INTRODUCTION ---------------- Released in 1979, STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE is a sequel to the 1960s television show STAR TREK. The franchise had suffered the ignominy of an animated series in the mid-1970s, which is in fact regarded quite highly amongst aficionados, but this film really kickstarted the STAR TREK franchise, leading to a further 9 films with yet another currently being made, and another four TV series to date. The STAR TREK saga truly is the franchise that wouldn't die and this film has a large part to play in that (although not as large a part as the second film - STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN - as you will see if you read my upcoming review on that movie!) ---------------- THE PLOT ---------------- Admiral James T. Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise enter the enormous constructions... Read review

Star Trek Movies Collection
Review of Star Trek - The Film Collection (The Motion Picture-Nemesis) by  Fussells4

Advantages: Every Star Trek Movie, in one Handy Box
Disadvantages: There aren't enough hours in a day!

...If you love Star Trek, these are definitely for you! This is every movie ever made, okay thats only ten, but still thats impressive. The packaging is brilliant, it is a box within a box, with two Holders within that, which spread out and hold five movies. There are five original movies, and five of the next generation movies. In total they make 1101 minutes (I make that about 18 hours 30 mins) of pure star Trek excellence. The ratings of the movies differ, 1 is a U, 3 are 12s, and the rest are PG. All of the DVDs look the same, but as you lift the DVDs out the packaging there is a piece of artwork underneith relating to the movie. Right so the movies themselves, I wont tell you storylines, as 1, you probably know them anyway, also I dont want to give away too much if you havent seen them. STAR TREK: THE MOTION... Read review

Star Trek III OST
Review of Star Trek III: The Search For Spock - Various Artists by  berlioz

Advantages: Great music by James Horner
Disadvantages: Some think a little too repeating of Star Trek II

...After Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan ended on a distinctly somber note with the death of Spock, some doubts were raised as to the future of Star Trek. With Spock gone what point was there to go on. But sure enough two years later a third entry did appear, entitled Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and directed by Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy. Continuing right where the last movie ended, Kirk and crew are on their way back to Earth while Kirk's son and Lt. Saavik (both introduced in Trek II) go investigating the Genesis planet just created. After Dr. McCoy starts behaving strangely, Kirk soon finds out that Spock had transported his Katra (soul) into McCoy before he went off to face death. Now Kirk has to get McCoy to Genesis in order to get Spock's body and take them to Vulcan. The problem is that Genesis has been declared off limits... Read review

Star Trek V
Review of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - Soundtrack by  berlioz

Advantages: One of the best Star Trek scores ever
Disadvantages: A bit repetitious at times

...Star Trek V: The Final Frontier came out in 1989 and was highly anticipated by fans, especially since the last three Trek movies had been such successes and The Next Generation TV series (airing since 1987) had also been gaining in popularity in the mainstream of audiences. Directed by William Shatner, this would be the first original crew feature in the new Enterprise-A, filled with religious mysticism, Klingons and a misguided Vulcan. So everything seemed to be in order; alas, the film was a great disappointment. It fared extremely badly and has been often called the worst Star Trek movie ever. It simply does not strike the right buttons the previous Star Trek films did on any point. The comedy seemed forced, overwhelming the dramatic aspects of the story, the special effects were lousy, there were numerous editorial mistakes very... Read review

Star Trek - the Motion Picture
Review of Star Trek I: The Motion Picture - Various Artists by  berlioz

Advantages: A Goldsmith classic, absolutely brilliant
Disadvantages: Main theme maybe too familiar

...When Star Wars exploded into the Hollywood scene in 1977, it sparked off a great interest in sci-fi and fantasy films. Many attempted to make another "Star Wars" success by making large scale sci-fi movies and TV shows like Battlestar Galactica, Moonraker and Star Trek. When it was decided to make a feature length film out of the cult-series of the late-1960's, Star Trek - The Motion Picture of 1979 was hoped to spark off the same kind of interest and fan-response of Star Wars. After all Star Trek had been growing in popularity through syndicated re-runs and the audience was certainly there. The budget given to the film was enormous, the special effects were first class at the time, the film was helmed by the legendary director Robert Wise, and the music was provided by one of the leading composers in Hollywood, Jerry Goldsmith who had... All Star trek fans gather around
Review of Star Trek Away Team (PC) by  a_leeming

Advantages: Combines strategy with action,Clean graphics,Trek universe
Disadvantages: No free roaming,Away team config is almost pointless, only good for Star Trek fans

...Star Trek television shows have dropped like flies at a minor league baseball game. First Next Generation, then DS9, now Voyager - all sent out to deep space. It's a shame, but also a blessing in disguise. All that creative talent has been reborn on computer screens across the globe, producing a distinctly uncharacteristic winning streak for the license. Star Trek Away Team could be defined a winner, but with some major caveats. It's a compelling mix of several genres, including the real-time strategic combat of Commandos, the tactical of Rainbow Six, and the good old-fashioned blast-em-up action of its older brother, Star Trek Elite Force. Although the game is billed as squad-based strategy, it's the combination of these genres that make the game intriguing. You never quite settle into one game mode, thanks mostly to some relatively... Star Trek IV
Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - Soundtrack by  berlioz

Advantages: A reasonably good overture
Disadvantages: The merits end there

...Beginning where the last film ended, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home continues the story as Kirk and crew are in exile on Vulcan when they defied Starfleet and stole the Enterprise in order to get Spock's body away from the planet Genesis and back to Vulcan. After fighting off Starfleet, Klingons and a destructing planet they managed to get Spock back to Vulcan where they performed a seremony to reunite Spock's katra (Spock's consciousness at the time in McCoy) with his body, finally bringing him back to life. Now Kirk and the rest have decided to return to Earth and face the consequences. Piloting their stolen Klingon Bird of Prey they soon find out that Earth is being bombarded by an alien probe, scanning and vaporising the oceans in search for humpback whales, as it is soon discovered. The whales have been extinct since the 21st century... Read review
