...So, having just finished at Nottingham Trent University it made perfect sense to make this brief review on the place...trust me if I reviewed every aspect of life here that I've experienced it would equate to the length of War & Peace! Trent is officially the leading "new" university in the country and is predominantly a city-based campus, with two other campuses located at Clifton (about 5 miles south of the city) and Brackenhurst (a very rural campus based to the north-east). I spend three years there and had an awesome time. In my first year I was based at the Simpsons Halls of Residence, which are in the Lenton area of Nottingham. Although not the nicest area of the city, the halls were certainly some of the best. Having had coursemates and friends who were located at other halls such as Hampden and Sandby which are much closer...

Advantages: Friendly Staff, Good Range of Fuels
Disadvantages: Jet Wash Doesn't Work, Isnt Very Good

They are a large fuel producing company which includes oil, gas, petrol and diesel, this company has many filling stations across the country and also in other countries too. They are well known for producing the 99octane V-Power and also V-Power diesel which is advertised as Ferrari fuel for the roads. This is probably because Shell sponsors Ferrari so they often help give Ferrari advertising. Shell are one of the leading companies in fuel supplying and I definitely trust them to do provide the best fuels for my cars and also to help improve the environment with improving their fuels to be more environmentally friendly. Disadvantages: Monopoly, no alternative supplier, profits before people

Stoke-on-Trent and its 5 towns come and see us

Advantages: Taxi,bus and rail service all excellant
Disadvantages: A 500 road works

Trent Barton - A Real Mixed Bag

Advantages: Polite Drivers, relatively new buses
Disadvantages: poor punctuality, low customer care, VERY expensive

...I live on the outskirts of Nottingham and, as i have no car, busses are often the only way I can get around. The ONLY bus service that operates through my area is Trent Barton (the rainbow 4 service and the 15, 18/32 and commuter express services). It is fair to say that travelling with Trent Barton is like playing the lottery, if you get lucky things are very good....but if you aren't lucky it can be really frustrating. For example, here's a little itinery of two days this week when I used Trent Barton. DAY ONE Arrive at the bus stop five minutes before the bus is due. Having waited fifteen minutes two busses arrive at once, I wave the bus down and the ask the driver for my fare, he utters not a word, gives me a ticket and change. The bus is full and I am forced to stand for the entire journey, it is also unbearably hot...

Review of Trent-Barton Buses

Will the New 96 Trent FM get any better

Advantages: Good for advertising businesses
Disadvantages: Not enough music and too much talk. Might as well be a BBC Radio Station

...I listen to radio all the time as I do not watch TV. You would expect to hear music a couple of advert and the hourly news, but not with the New 96 Trent FM. I have now stopped listening to this radio station as all you hear is talking, adverts and the news and out of an hour slot, you will probably hear about 5 songs. Is this really a radio station? Trent FM have relaunched the radio station twice in the matter of 15 years as it is vital that they get the listeners into the show as they are a Independant Radio Station which are owned by GWR. The last relaunch was in 1995 when they were going on to the streets finding out what people expect from a radio station, and they advertised in The Nottingham Evening Post with questionnaires to fill in and send back to them. Rockin right across the Trent

Advantages: good music
Disadvantages: adverts!

...I think I may be the only one around here who actually enjoys Trent FM. When I first arrived in Nottingham, it was the only radio station that I could find on my tuner which was clear, and it hasn't moved since. Trent FM offers a great range of popular music, from Westlife and other cheesey pop, to the golden oldies, to soft rock and indie. The only fault that I can find with Trent is the adverts. Yes, they are annoying, but I have found that I generally tune out when they do come on, waiting for the music to begin again. However I think I am probably used to it, as at home I always listened to the best commercial radio station Capital FM. OK, whilst I'm on the subject, another annoying thing is when they insist on playing the same few adverts on every commercial break, but I find that shouting at the radio to shut up usually helps...

Stoke-On-Trent the pottery place

Advantages: Beautiful towns, Excellent Demonstrations, Good value factory shops

...I'd promised my wife since before we got married that I'd take her to Stoke-on-Trent, but it took us nearly 5 years to get there. Our journey began in a warm London just before 6am and ended around 3 hours later in a rather wet Stoke-on-Trent. Our first port of call was the touriist information centre which is well signposted. We picked up maps showing the pottery places and a list of local accomodation. We visted Pottermerion, Royal Doulton, Wedgewood, Ansley, and many other factory shops. The items on sale tend to be "seconds" with slight defects that in some cases can't be noticed, and the sale price is less than half that of a normal product. Many of the companies offer factory tours and demonstrations of how the pottery is made - all of which are very good. We finished around 6pm and decided to spend the night in...

Biting Trent with My Teeth!

Advantages: Makes a good first album for new listeners to this style of music.
Disadvantages: Not their best album, but certainly good none the less .

A little taste of Italy - by the Banks of the River Trent..

...It's not every day that a new restaurant opens in a small rural Nottinghamshire village. Nor is it every day that my local shuts for a private function on an evening. However, due to the latter, and the fact that I had a craving for a great big bowl of pasta, for my Sunday evening tea, I somehow ended up at Pontefino's in Gunthorpe, Notts. Gunthorpe is actually home to three Trent waterfront restaurants, the other side of the river from my house, but nevertheless within an easy stroll. The third of these was the Anchor pub, and somewhere I had frequented only once in the last 4 years.
