HOW TO MAKE CASH FROM YOUR MOBILE
Review of Member Advice on Choosing a mobile phone by
moose
Advantages: There are some GREAT deals out there
Disadvantages: Can be extremely confusing
...amongst us! At the time of writing this opinion an Ericsson T68 is around £160 to buy on most contracts but give it a couple of months and I expect we will see it in the shops for less than £50, maybe even free!
What features do you want your phone to have? If you regularly travel abroad you may want to consider a tri-band phone which will work in the US and most other major countries (a dual band will work in most European countries and a few others). Are you an avid text-er?? If so you may want to consider phones with bigger buttons and screens (smaller buttons make it quite difficult to text, especially if you have big hands!).
Weight, dimensions (size IS important guys!), colour, screen size, radiation levels are all very important considerations. Games, vibrating alerts, WAP, calculators etc… are all added value features...

Advice on Purchasing a Mobile phone
Review of General Information on Buying a Mobile by
patrickday
Advantages: unanswerable question, given subject
Disadvantages: ditto
...A hopefully helpful insight into buying a mobile phone.
Just thinking about buying a mobile phone is enough to give anyone a headache these days. Special offers in the newspapers, high street chains tied to networks and high street chains bleating on about how they are not tied to a network (but make more money if you join one as opposed to another). Free handsets, free line rental, free minutes, free connection and free accessories. Cashback, bonus minutes and free scooters by redemption. Yes, it is all a bit tiresome. So, Iıve decoded to try to make things a bit easier for you (and no, Iım not one of those extremely friendly sale assistants). For the last four years I have tried everything to keep my phone bills low, without compromising quality. Here are my tips:
1. The key to the network choice is to fit in with the network...

T erffic Mobile
Review of T-Mobile by
criple
Advantages: Good Coverage, Excllent Customer Services, Excellent Price Plans
Disadvantages: none
.... The freetime 750 tariff was still available and it seemed like the ideal solution, as most of my friends and family at the time were also T-Mobile customers. At the date of writing 25/11/02 this is still available. It allowed 750 free off peak calls to other T-Mobile customers and landlines and 50 free text messages per month. One of the main differences with T-Mobile is that their off peak time band starts at 6.00 p.m. and not 7.00 p.m. on weekdays and all weekends. I think this makes a big difference as you can call people on your way home from work. It also means that you can save money on your home phone bill by using up the free minutes. Best of all the cost of this was only £13.99 per month. Another advantage with any of T-Mobiles price plans is that voicemail retrieval is free!
Of course if you use the phone during the day or in excess...

Genie Mobile,MagicLamp,or Rubbbish
Review of Genie Mobile by
father_jack
Advantages: Cheap, good range of services
Disadvantages: Poor customer support
...to Genie by buying a new PAYG mobile from their website, much in the way you do with other networks, by buying a PAYG sim-card (or, for the non-technical, the little piece of plastic that lets you connect to a network :-) ), by buying a contract sim-card, or by getting a free phone on contract.
I connected by buying a PAYG sim-card, so this is really the only way I can comment on.
Firstly, remember that you can only use Genie sim-cards in phones that;
1)Will work on Vodafone or Cellnet. These are either phones purchased on these two networks, or phones which are dual or tri-band. This is because T-Mobile and Orange operate on different frequencies to Cellnet, which is used by Genie.
2)Are not locked to Vodafone, One2One or Orange;
Basically, you should be able to use any
*ex-BT Cellnet mobile (contract or PAYG)
*ex-Vodafone contract...

Sexiest Phone Ever?
Review of LG 800 Chocolate mobile phone by
tia_bailey
Advantages: Stylish, small, light, durable
Disadvantages: Battery life not great, looks dirty quickly, ring volume too low
..., after all, I rarely use my mobile for anything other than calls and texts. I've had phones by all the other major mobile phone manufacturers (Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola), but never an LG, so I was keen to see how it compared.
When my phone arrived I looked at the box and just thought 'wow!'. I was sure I'd chosen a quality product, and this was before I'd even seen the phone itself. I've never seen such a nicely packaged mobile phone. There is a cardboard sleeve on the box with a picture of the phone, nothing too special, but under this cardboard sleeve is the sexiest mobile phone box ever! It's very posh looking, and even has a magnetic fastening! It looks more like something you'd expect to house an expensive item of jewellery, only perhaps a little larger. On top of the box is a little LG symbol with the slogan 'Life's Good...

lesleyanne18
Advantages: very handy for travelling & cheap

This handy little gadget is rated 9/10 in many stores

When Travelling with alot of technology you must always try and remember all those chargers and gadgets for it all, which in full can take up alot of time, and space.
HOW IT WORKS
Because of all this hassel , APC company have developed a new specific charger to save it all, its basically a charger that plugs into a spare USB socket and then drains the power to charge your mobile phone.
One end plugs into a spare USB socket the other into the phone.
It has been tested using various mobiles brands such as nokia, Ericsson, Alcatel, Motorola, Siemens and Panasonic.
PRICE DETAILS
IT COSTS £10 TO BUY IN SHOPS

My Mobile Groan... The Moaner Returns Part I
Review of Mobile Phones in Society/General by
danieletheridge
Advantages: Good For Emergencies
Disadvantages: Rude and Intrusive
...penny he has in the bank.
I find it very irritating when mobile phones ring. And of course, when you hear ‘Grand Valse,’ everybody starts poking round in their pockets, asking, ‘Is it mine?’ This is very irritating when you’re trying to have a conversation with a group of your friends.
The Cost…
Mobile phone charges are very high so it’s expensive to keep using them. Kids are on phones all the time, just throwing away their money in often pointless text messages to the guy sitting next to them on the school bus. What on earth is the point of doing that?
The phones themselves also cost an arm and a leg if you’re buying anything half decent. Phones can easily cost in excess of £100 and in many cases of the younger generations, this is often just to get lost or perhaps even stolen...

An excellent phone.......On paper
Review of O2 X3 Mobile Phone by
leighton_87
Advantages: Got every feature a phone needs and lots they don't need
Disadvantages: can be faulty
...used the phone for about 6 months now and my experience has been mixed to say the least but I will talk about that later.
THE PHONE
***************
The phone is made by O2 and is the newest in their range of mobile phones; it is the follow on from the X1 and X2. The phone is predominantly silver in colour with a black front panel, the buttons have a very bright blue light and the O2 logo is clearly visible on the front. The overall look of the phone is very simple and basic, but quite nice none the less. The durability is another matter, I do not exactly look after it well but its been abused no more than any other phone I have used and already looks badly damaged with the silver paint now being white in many areas.
The phones dimensions are 81 x 42 x 26 mm. This is relatively small for a flip phone, especially one that comes...

An excellent PDA/Mobile Phone
Review of XDA Mini S, PDA/Mobile Phone by
redballoon
Advantages: Everything about the phones features
Disadvantages: Costly if you dont have a contract. Only avaliable from o2
...wanted an organiser that looking back now was rubbish! They only had two lines of input as a screen, a basic calendar and a notepad of some description and an address book! How things have moved on.
I read about their new pda's and found out that they had combined a very high powered PDA with a mobile phone and more features on top! They have several out, all very similar but this one stood out for me. I went to the o2 shop in town near me and asked to see the range in the flesh so I can actually see what they are like. She brought all three out and one (the executive one) was massive! It was too big. Then this one was given to me. The mini. The baby of the range. He was small, rounded and compact. It was like love at first sight! Ii asked the shop assistant how much the handset was and she replied 275.00! I was shocked! But that price...

AS A NEW MOBILE PHONE USER
Review of Mobile Phone companies - Mobile Phones by
ByronTheWicked
Advantages: excellent customer care, good rates, excellent reception, very easy to use eption
Disadvantages: none
...I must have been the only person in the UK without a mobile phone, but I finally surrendered to the new technology. With some help (see related review)I decided to buy a Nokia 3310, with Orange Just Talk.
As I never had a mobile phone before I was a bit nervous on how to go about registration and use. But the manual supplied was very clear and the steps quick to follow.
I called the help line to register my phone and the assistant was very helpful and patient too, considering it took me five minutes to decide on a password and she did not put pressure on me at all.On the contrary, she invited me to take my time. The registration reply message arrived very quickly too.
The next step was to decide on a method of payment for my credits. Orange offers three: vouchers, top up card and credit/debit card. I decided to use mainly the top...
