Advantages: Washes perfectly
Disadvantages: A little slow

...Bought this machine just before Christmas 2005 and I LOVE it. Went for the Tricity Bendix again as my previous washing machine served me for 12 good years of continual use (only changed it as it was looking dated - its still going strong now with a neighbour). The features are excellent - none of that unecessary digital doings, this just does what it needs to. A good selection of programmes that keep whites WHITE. The cycles do take almost two hours for an ordinary 40 degree wash - but it takes larger loads and has a great spin speed. This would be a great machine for the larger family where loads are slightly larger, but also ideal for single person, couple or small family. Being full height, it can accomodate most items that would fit in an ordinary dishwasher, but takes up less space in a small kitchen, and is cheaper to run. Another advantage for a small family is that it is quicker to fill a smaller dishwasher so you are not hanging around with a stinky kitchen waiting to fill the dishwasher before starting a cycle! ...Wow. What can I say about this dishwasher without being truly offensive? We bought the Tricity Bendix because we needed a slimline machine to fit into our kitchen when we moved house. With one toddler and another on the way, we needed to get a machine that could at least clear away the bulk of the washing-up: even a small one was better than nothing! The brand we chose was not in stock, so we had to settle for the only other slimline machine they had. The Tricity Bendix did not look as good as the other model but was about £10 cheaper and we were buying a lot of other white goods at the same time. Needless to say, we now wish we'd waited for our original choice! My complaints about this washer are nothing to do with its size. It has been a great space saver and I found the stacking trays quite useful in layout. It certainly manages... Read review

...I watched the sad demise of our last washer dryer after having served us for a less than 2 years… least said soonest mended. So began a frantic search for an immediate replacement and armed with the words from Himself "just get one which washes, we don't need the all singing all dancing model", I bought this model. ...Anyone who knows me knows that I don't have much luck with anything electrical. I have been married for 6 years and in this time I have had 5 washing machines. When my last washing machine broke we couldn't afford a new one so I was constantly taking my washing to my mums, which is quite difficult when you have three messy kids. My mum finally got sick of doing my washing and thought she would buy me a washing machine for my birthday. This was last April. Now my mum and dad are very smart when it comes to purchasing things. ...This slimline design dishwasher was our first dishwasher experience. Do you remember yours? The bliss of putting away the marigolds is reason enough to sing this little machine's virtues from the tree tops! From a practical point of view we have found the smaller capacity a bonus as it fills up quickly enough for our family without having to have smelly dishes waiting to be cleaned or half empty dishwashers being put though a whole cycle (not very eco saving!). We usually just use the normal programme (3) and only occasionally find food left behind. This is often down to our useless filling and stacking technique, putting pan handles shoved up against plates so they are too close together etc. There are two wire baskets to fill up with handy bits to hold plates, however this sometimes proves problamatic when putting... ...the £300 mark. ** The competition ** I had a weekend to do some browsing and research so I started with Which? Magazines' article on washing machines. The top three recommended makes were Tricity Bendix, Bosch and Miele. These did well in the tests and had an 'above average' for reliability. AEG also got 'above average' on reliability, but the machines tested didn't score so well overall. It didn't take me long to rule out Miele as it was beyond my price range. £600 seemed to be an average starting price for them and for one in silver I was heading over the £1000 mark! Tricity Bendix is the cheap end of the three with prices averaging between £100-£300. However, they didn't seem to do their machines in silver. So I more or less set my heart on a Bosch. Unfortunately their machines were only in silver in the pricier ranges... Read review

...After fifteen years of nagging and countless hints of how everyone but me had a dishwasher , my husband finally gave in and we purchased the 45cm Tricity Bendix . The main reason for choosing the slimmer model was purely lack of space in the kitchen and I must admit I did feel a bit dubious about the size because we have four children who create an awful lot of washing up.The dishwasher is advertised as being able to take eight place settings,and although I think that eight would be a bit of a squash it easily had enough room for the plates etc from the six of us and still had plenty of room for a couple of saucepans as well.All the washing came out looking like new , and I have now found after having had it for a few weeks that old tarnished cutlery has regained it,s gleaming new look.The controls are clear to use and although... ...not place clean pans inside the base storage compartment. If you use the oven a lot they will become greasy and dirty. The best use for this compartment is as a temporary storage facility for dirty pans when you don't have time to wash them immediately - e.g. Christmas/Celebratory meals. -- CONCLUSION -- The TRICITY BENDIX LYRIC55M2 is an excellent freestanding cooker with eye-level grill for tall and tall-ish people who do not have the space in their kitchen for a wall-mounted combination oven. Its slimline 60cm width is another plus for small-kitchen owners. However, if you have a fitted kitchen and expect it to fit into the recess left by your last cooker - double-check the width and depth of the recess as you could find yourself with a 2 inch gap on either side between the cooker and the work surfaces.
