I have even resulted taking it to sainsburys shopping because he is much happier on his trike than sitting in the trolley. I needed a trike that had a parent handle so that when we go out it is easy to push and to control. The parent handle on this trike is excellent, you can actually steer the trike and have full control. It comes with foam padding on the handle for comfortable handling ideal for long walks. ...The warm weather is on its way (hopefully!) so here is my first review of some outside toys. I bought this trike last summer for my little Bob the Builder fan as he was a little bit too young for a bike and still had to grasp the idea of peddling. It is the character Scoop, who is a yellow digger. The trike comes flat packed but with all the necessary things you would need to put it together, which takes around 15 minutes. You attach the wheels, seat, etc to the frame and it is pretty easy to do (well, it was pretty easy for my husband to do, should I say?!) You also have to attach the stickers on the front wheel and frame (my job!). The scoop plaque is then fastened to the front of the trike. ...DO NOT BUY THIS TRIKE!!! I purchased this trike for my daughter's 1st birthday in July 2007. On the day of her birthday i took her out for a walk in it and was really pleased with the trike, and my daughter seemed really happy in it. i used it the next day and all went well. On the third occasion - 10 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING - I was returning from the shops, and on turning the parent handle to the left, the handle came off in my hand and the whole trike tipped over, resulting in my 12month old daughter being rushed to the local A&E department with severe bleeding from the mouth, lacerations to the gums around her front teeth, cuts and bruises to her forehead and chin. ...PLEASE DO NOT BUY! THE TRIKE IS DANGEROUS! I purchased this trike for my daughter's first birthday because I thought it looked and sounded great and I felt that the rigid safety harness is very good. I took my little one out for a walk in it and as soon as I encountered the first lowered curb, the bike tipped over to the side with my baby in it because it could not manage to get over the 1 inch hurdle. Luckily, I managed to catch the trike before my daughter hit her head on the tarmac. The parent handle can not be installed tight enough and in order to turn the front wheel to a degree either left or right, the parent handle has to make an almost 90 degree turn before the front wheel even starts to move a friction. ...My daughter was given the Smart Trike for her 1st birthday, it was pur chased from Argos. Unfortunately in my experience it is a liability and I would not recommend it under ANY circumstances. The parent handle has a design flaw that makes it very dangerous. I found the steering slack , and had to hold it at an angle to go in a straight line, and because they've designed the handle to be easily removable for storage purposes it isn't secure enough to guarantee safety when in use. The plastic clips which secure the handle to the trike are totally inadequate for the job, as I regrettably found out; I was pushing my daughter along a (luckily) quiet pathway when the handle came off the trike, resulting in my daughter falling face first off the kerb. 2 hours later we emerge from A&E with a 13 month old with a split lip and severe... ...We purchased this trike in March this year for my daughter's 1st birthday and I can honestly say that she absolutely loves it, as do 3 of the other babies her age. One of the big bonuses is that is can be used from 10 months. The bag provided is very useful for trips to the shops (yes I DID receive one in my box, so they must have sorted that out since one of the other reviewers wrote their review). I tend to use the bag for my daughter's stuff e.g. wipes, drink, sun cream and also for my handbag, as i find it to be extremely sturdy. I have even put a bottle of wine in it when shopping at my local LIdl!!! Also of use is the basket at the back, which again is good for using when you're shopping. ...When it came to Harry's 2nd birthday in March, my fiance and I weren't sure on what to get him for his main present, because he had received so much at Christmas, he still hadn't played with most of it! But when I saw this trike at an absolute bargain price on the Boots website, we decided that it would be perfect as his birthday present, and it has certainly become the present he's ever received from anyone! The trike is made by Mookie. The Smart Trike is a trike which is designed for use by children from 12 months old through until they are 4 years old, or have outgrown the trike. It adapts itself for each of these age groups by the removal of certain features, which is a great feature of this product. ...SEE UPDATE AT END OF REVIEW! At first glance, this trike looks great. Funky colours, good safety features, complete with all the extras you can imagine. For £39.99 you would expect it to be a quality product, but a few months of usage will sadly prove this assumption wrong. We've had this trike for about nine months now. We bought it to substitute our buggy, when our then 16-month-old flat out refused to sit in it any more. He must have decided that he was no longer a baby and he didn't want to be seen pushed around in a buggy, I guess. We thought this trike would solve our problem, and to be fair, it did to some extent. From then on, every time we left the house, our little boy would run to the garage asking to sit on his trike. ...Buying your child's first set of wheels can be a big deal. You want to make sure that you are getting the best one possible, as they are not cheap. Looking on the web is a great place to start, but make sure you try before you buy. When we purchased the 10in Panda, we took our little boy to the toy shop, sat him on the trike and pushed him round the shop. We narrowed down the number of trikes first by looking at the features available, safety aspects and colours. But in the end our little boy made the final decision. From the moment we sat him on this trike to the moment we took him off, he grinned from ear to ear and laughed joyfully up and down the shop aisle. ...Our oldest daughter already has a Kettler Maxi Trike from Argos, but I wanted something suitable for our younger one (19 months). After some searching, I settled on the Argos Tipper Trike. Unfortunately, like all the other trikes I'd found, it is still a bit big for her little legs to use. I didn't expect her to pedal it, but was hoping her feet would reach the ground easier than they do. Not to worry, she loves it, but what really surprised me was how much her sister loves it. We got the Kettler Maxi trike for her as a 2nd birthday gift, it was £40 and is very heavy, being made of metal not plastic. Although it is marketed as suitable from age 2, in my opinion it is not.
