The Force is with Star Wars Trilogy DVD
Review of Star Wars - The Original Trilogy (Box Set) by
alexdg1
Advantages: All three Special Edition films are here, nice sound, crisp picture
Disadvantages: None
...At last! Where have you been?-- C-3PO to R2-D2, A New Hope
Part One: A Fan's Dream Comes True at Last.
On Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, Lucasfilm Ltd. and 20th Century-Fox Home Entertainment released -- some might say unleashed -- the DVD edition of one of the most anticipated movie collections since the invention of this increasingly popular format: The Star Wars Trilogy And despite some opposition from fans who (a) wanted the DVD set to include both the 1977-83 versions and the 1997 Special Editions and (b) are unhappy with further alterations made to the "Classic" trilogy especially for the 2004 DVD editions, The Star Wars Trilogy four-disc set has been selling briskly. (It's No. 1 in DVD sales at Amazon.com.)
I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977, so not only have I seen the existing five Episodes of George Lucas' space fantasy...

Alien Trilogy Hot or Not?
Review of Alien Trilogy (PC) by
CoZ
Advantages: Game environment is just like the film
Disadvantages: Watching every single cut scene
...All right, you really like the Alien movies (except you didn't dig the last one nearly as much as the first two). You love first-person shooters like Duke Nukem 3D and Quake. You walk into your local software store and spot Alien Trilogy, Acclaim's new first-person shooter based on the movies you love. It's like a dream come true, right? Right - if the dream were a nightmare.
Actually, that's a little bit harsh. Alien Trilogy isn't a horrible game; in fact, if it had been released two years ago I'd probably be inclined to give it a fair rating. But hey, it's 1997 - and after seeing what can be done with first-person shooters on the PC, Alien Trilogy looks like a real trip back in time.
One thing AT does have going for it is a great setting. I don't think I've met an action-game fan who wasn't into Aliens, and that's where Alien...

A trilogy that should have been two books.
Review of The Gormenghast Trilogy - Mervyn Peake by
britum2000
Advantages: A masterpiece of English literature that defies categorisation
Disadvantages: A flawed trilogy, let down by the third book
...The Gormenghast trilogy is without a doubt two of the finest books in English literature. Yes, I know a trilogy implies three books, but more of that later. It is often classified as fantasy but this is a misnoma because it contains no fantastic creatures, no magic and no intelligent races other than its citizens. To refer to Gormenghast as fantastic would be a more appropriate description of its almost gothic, often surreal style. The real strength of the work is not in its plot but in its vivid narrative, fascinating characters and often breathtaking set pieces. The Gormenghast books are a feast for the visual thinker, one whose mind's eye can translate text into imagery.
It is worth noting that an attempt to dramatise the first two books by the BBC some years ago was a critical failure because I believe the scale and complexity...

The best trilogy
Review of Back To The Future Trilogy (Box Set) by
JAB4king
Advantages: Great Stroy, Great Acting
Disadvantages: None i can think of
...Ok I think we would all agree that Bttf is the best trilogy that has ever been filmed. And now it is available on DVD. Yep that’s right, after putting it off time and time again it is now available to buy.
Bttf One
When a young boy called Marty Mcfly (Michael J Fox) is called by his mad doctor friend and told to meet him at a car park the last thing he expected to see was a time machine. The story goes on to tell us about what happens when Marty goes back in time and accidentally interferes with his parent meeting putting his self existence in danger!(I don't want to go to much in to the plot incase I spoil it)
Extras
This DVD is jammed with extras so here we go
1. THE MAKING OF BACK TO THE FUTURE-This is a small 3 or 4 minute film that tells you about how the film was made. It has many interesting parts...

Foundation Trilogy
Review of The Foundation Trilogy - Isaac Asimov by
1711
Advantages: A huge story broken into manageable parts
Disadvantages: You will want to buy all the parts
...I first read this trilogy 30 years ago and have enjoyed it several times since.
The story is a future history that takes place against the backdrop of a Galactic Empire`s collapse. Although the distances covered are too huge to absorb each book has characters that you will want to know in detail. The sociological implications of psychohistory - the new science used in the trilogy- can be easily transferred to our present society. Do not be put off by the idea of psychohistory it is very easy to understand.
Each book could be read alone but each is so gripping you will want to continue and devour all of them.
Although Foundation is termed a trilogy Asimov`s robot books should also be read to realise the final twist of the tale when both storylines come together and all is revealed.
These books truly display the Master`s vision...

a Die hard Trilogy for die hard fans
Review of Die Hard Trilogy (PSX) by
Hellzone
Advantages: Great graphics, Great sound, 3 great games.
Disadvantages: The people have funny heads.
...Die hard trilogy is a great game, coming action packed with 3 games, Die Hard 1 where you get to walk around in an RPG style game shooting bad guys with a whole arsenal of weapons, including Rocket Launchers, MP5’s, Shotguns etc, Die hard is a really good game if you enjoy Rpg’s and a good lot of killing fun J.
The 2nd Game, Die Hard 2 (obviously) is more like a time crisis game, you walk around a set path using your light gun or control pad to shoot baddies, using Rockets and Grenades to, the graphics are brilliant on this game and so is the game play, although the people do look a bit funny, and you get to blow them up and even shoot down helicopters, Planes and take out vans and lorry’s, the only problem with this game is the ease of it. It’s too simple to play and to complete, but it’s good fun...

finest trilogy ever?
Review of The Godfather Trilogy (Box Set) by
richp80
Advantages: dont mes with the family
Disadvantages: sometimes a bit slow
...The Godfather (1972) was a landmark picture in mafia movies, which broke the "Hollywood mould" in that its sequel, The Godfather Part Two, was arguably better than the film that spawned it. The Godfather also played a major role in propelling its young star, the unknown Al Pacino, to heights from which he has never descended. Pacino joined an experienced and big named cast including Academy Award Winner Marlon Brando, James Caan, and Robert Duvall, an award-winning musical score by Carmine Coppola and veteran Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola in the making of the films that have now become known as The Godfather Trilogy. The films have been re-released on DVD to mark the 30th Anniversary of Part One's production and come in a 5-disc box set that includes a 187-minute bonus disc with features such as a "Behind The Godfather Family...

Back to the future (Trilogy)
Review of Back To The Future Trilogy (Box Set) by
westybrook
Advantages: 3 amazing DVD with great features
Disadvantages: There are only 3 and no more
...Time travel has always fascinated the science fiction community and this trilogy basically introduced the idea of time travel to the film industry.
So, if you want to blame someone for time travel movies which you sometimes do not understand, blame Steven Spielberg.
Back to the Future
This is the movie which started it all.
Starring in this movie were Michael J. Fox (as Marty McFly), Christopher Lloyd (as Dr. Emmett Brown), Lea Thompson (as Loraine McFly - Marty's mother), Crispin Glover (as George McFly - Marty's father).
Dr Brown and Marty McFly were very close friends, and Dr Brown invented a time machine out of a car (a De Lorean, no less) and during their test drive, Dr Brown was murdered by terrorists and Marty escaped in the car, accidently sending him back into time into 1955 - thirty years prior to 1985.
During...

Margret Weiss & Tracy Hickman - The Darksword trilogy
Review of The Darksword Trilogy - Margaret Weiss, Tracy Hickman by
guy_soffer
Advantages: a very different book, a bit hard to put down
Disadvantages: the language is very simple, not as rich as other works
...The Darksword trilogy is a very interesting piece of work.
Margret Weiss & Tracy Hickman take a fresh approach to a classical fantasy book, the ordinary person in this world is a magician.
This approach allows a different kind of tale to evolve, the queen's
son and heir to the throne, is born, but is found to be without magic.
He is sentenced to death, but is mysteriously smuggled out to a village with a woman pretending to be his mother.
The trilogy follows this child's life, an ordinary person in a magical world, Combined with fascinating characters, and a very interesting plot. This trilogy is written in an easy style, suitable to everyone and makes a very good read....
