Another Triumph for Maclaren

Advantages: Lightweight, good value for money, funky design, reliable
Disadvantages: Stupid brakes but you do get used to it

Advantages: Nippy commuter.
Disadvantages: Cramped and thirsty.

...Had one for a couple of weeks while my triumph trophy was in for service. It was in orange so you couldnt miss seeing it. I found it to be small as i ride a much bigger bike, it is very nippy then i realised it has a 955i engine in it. A 3 cylinder so it had a nice sound to it. It is a sports riding position so can be uncomfortable for distance work as your weight is carried through your wrists. It would be good for short distance commuting through a big city as its small and nippy to squeeze through the traffic, that it the kind of commuting i do and it coped but at the end of the journey i found it tiring and will stick with the 1200cc Trophy. I think it would be quite easy to break the speed limit on it without realising as it is small light and powerful. But it does handle very well as a good sports bike should but didnt get...

Advantages: Free road tax, reliable, appearance, ease of maintenance
Disadvantages: lack of security needs aftermarket locks

...just sitting on the bike gives a feeling of dignity and serenity. The easy flow of power (POWER? 34 BHP?) from the long stroke engine, the graceful handling and rider comfort should be experienced by more people. A nod to a bygone time, remember this machine was one of Ted Turner's pennypinching designs, which went on to win accolades, trophies and records for 20 years. Less than 9 years after inception, it held the world motorcycle speedrecord at a place called Bonneville. But therein lies another story. Sadly, the years have overtaken both the Tbird and me; my '73 500 Daytona drags me out more, I commute on a GPZ 500 and make more and more use of the car. Very soon the Tbird will be passed on to someone else to love and nurture. We've had fun for the last 5 or 6 years, though....

Advantages: Fully stocked spares department.
Disadvantages: Long wait for services.

...This is the dealership for Triumph in the Essex area. It has a showroom on the ground floor with a further showroom and parts shop upstairs. They have a fully equiped workshop on the premises and all the staff are friendly. The local RAT pack is based here too, (RAT = Riders Association of Triumph), they organise rides out and also excursions to the Triumph factory. I bought my Triumph Trophy from them and shortly after i bought it from them it wasnt running correctly so took it straight there and they looked at it for me there and then. I couldnt have asked for better service. As they are a good dealers you will find that there is quite a long wait to be fitted in to the service department especially during peak riding seasons, or just before. They carry the most commonly requested spares for all the Triumph models and the prices...
