Not so much a triumph,,,

Advantages: It's not a bad metal album
Disadvantages: Too many throw-away songs...

...they were doing it all as a joke, but then had the feeling that they were actually taking themselves seriously! They have become a parody of themselves, a Spinal Tap with heavier guitars? But what of the 1992 release The Triumph of Steel? The band? Eric Adams ? vocals David Shankle ? guitars* Joey DeMaio ? bass Rhino (aka Kenny Earl Edwards) ? drums* *These two had just replaced long-standing Ross "The Boss" Friedman - guitar Scott Columbus ? drums, who had left the band, but this was the only album to feature both these new musicians. Columbus returned for the next few albums, however. The songs? "Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy in Eight Parts" ? 28:38 Prelude I. Hector Storms the Wall II. The Death of Patroclus III. Funeral March IV. Armor of the Gods V. Hector's Final Hour VI. Death Hector's Reward VII...

The Herald - A True British Triumph

Advantages: Ahead of its time
Disadvantages: Handled very poorly. Slow.

...~ ~ When I was a teenager back in 1963, the first car my father ever bought was an old Ford Anglia in which I learned my basic driving skills. Three years later it was traded in, and a brand spanking new car arrived on the doorstep. A Triumph Herald 12/50, in lovely gleaming white, matching white colour-coded rubber bumpers, with a canvas slide-back sunroof, and to top it all, a RADIO. This was nirvana for a 15-year-old boy heavily into the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and all the popular music of the time, and a vast improvement on the old Dansette transistor radio that had sat on the dashboard of the old Anglia, which had truly dreadful reception. ~ ~ In those days cars still had to be ?run in?, and great care was taken for the first thousand miles, with no heavy strain being put on the engine, and the top speed limited (by...

Another Triumph for Maclaren

Advantages: Lightweight, good value for money, funky design, reliable
Disadvantages: Stupid brakes but you do get used to it

...I have had a Silver Cross pushchair since Harry was born in March 06, and although I really love that buggy, I have been looking for something smaller for going shopping with, especially now the shops will be busy with people starting their Christmas shopping. I have loved Maclaren buggies for a while, and my partner finally decided that we could get one. I settled on a Triumph, one of the smallest buggies in the Maclaren range, and I am so thrilled with it, I thought I would write a little review on it! Maclaren are probably one of the most well known lightweight pushchair manufacturers. They are most famous for their umbrella-folding buggies which you will mums all over the UK pushing around, and there are many different buggies to suit all needs available from them. Maclaren began in 1965 and have become bigger and better since...

Cornwell's Triumph

Advantages: Superb Read
Disadvantages: None

...showed the beginnings of his hate filled relationship with Hakeswill who was to become one of the main protagonists during the future series. Sharpes Triumph picks up 4 years after 'Tiger'. Sergeant Sharpe is still in India being employed in an armoury, well away from the fighting and generally enjoying his comfortable role. However a routine trip to pick up some ammunition puts him in harms way as he is the only survivor of a massacre as a defecting English officer steals the cartridges as part of his initiation into the enemy forces. As the only man who can recognise the renegade Sharpe is forced to leave his easy role and join a British intelligence officer in his hurt for 'Major Dodd' so he can be brought to justice. This man hunt takes place against the backdrop of one of the largest and most important battles of the Indian campaign...

The Complete Story of Heartbreak and Triumph?

Advantages: Some good, insightful moments and 'forgotten' matches
Disadvantages: Almost the same as the autobiography, lacking depth in some places

...and different from many others. Also, you can select which language you wish to listen and view the set in which is good for three nationalities at least! However, whilst for the most part the presentation and overall look of 'Heartbreak and Triumph' is a winner, the outer sleeve of the packaging has a lot to be desired, not artistically but for the reason that I only got my copy of the set a couple of weeks ago and it's already started looking tatty and worn! Whilst the set in itself might stand the test of time, with all of the DVD's working well, I don't foresee the packaging being in such good working order in a couple of years time. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY Considering the set does last over 8 and a half hours and is a three disk set, I was quite impressed price wise. I managed to pick my copy up for £16 via the HMV website due to a special...

Triumph RS

Advantages: Nippy commuter.
Disadvantages: Cramped and thirsty.

...Had one for a couple of weeks while my triumph trophy was in for service. It was in orange so you couldnt miss seeing it. I found it to be small as i ride a much bigger bike, it is very nippy then i realised it has a 955i engine in it. A 3 cylinder so it had a nice sound to it. It is a sports riding position so can be uncomfortable for distance work as your weight is carried through your wrists. It would be good for short distance commuting through a big city as its small and nippy to squeeze through the traffic, that it the kind of commuting i do and it coped but at the end of the journey i found it tiring and will stick with the 1200cc Trophy. I think it would be quite easy to break the speed limit on it without realising as it is small light and powerful. But it does handle very well as a good sports bike should but didnt get...

Heralding in A New Era With Old Parts

Advantages: Ease of maintenance. Running costs. Quite advanced in many ways
Disadvantages: Strange mixture of old and new ideas. 'Odd' cornering to say the least

...I guess we all remember our first cars with a degree of affection, especially when the rose-coloured glasses of a thirty-three-year passage of time enhance that memory. SOB STORY I didn?t have anyone to treat me to driving lessons on my 17th birthday ? I?d come from a non car-owning family, and so it all had to wait until I could afford it myself, driving lessons, vehicle purchase and insurance. In the end, I passed my test and bought a car sometime around my 21st birthday. NO PLEASE, DON?T THROW MONEY ? I?LL GET MY OWN I was determined that I wasn?t going to go down the route of ?decrepit old banger? for my first car (girlfriends, yes, cars, no) so in 1971, I bought a five year old low-ish mileage Triumph Herald 12/50. Lovely it looked too, in that classy royal blue of the day touched off by those white rubber strakes that...

1960 Triumph Thunderbird

Advantages: Free road tax, reliable, appearance, ease of maintenance
Disadvantages: lack of security needs aftermarket locks

...Bought as several boxes of disparate parts, I at first wondered if I'd lost my marbles. It was a 1960, bathtub model, but of course they'd gone. The loved/loathed slickshift was present. A strip of the engine showed pretty good nick, but many non standard parts, like an alloy head and Bonnie cams. Pistons were 9.75, up from standard. As I couldn't warrant the cost of nos bathtubs and didn't want fibreglass, I left the alloy head on, even though they are more prone to cracking. The valves weren't oversize, so that left a bit more meat. After nearly a year, she was ready for testing. Filled up with unleaded (valve seats modded), Second kick! After 30 years, she was running. Out for mot, straight through the test. Picked up a tax disc, I asked if they wanted a cheque for £0.00, but they didn't. Performance? A decent unrestricted...

Triumph Stag - a flawed fantasy or fabulous flirtation?

Advantages: The Smile Factor. Beautiful looks. Beautiful noises. Open top. Hard top. WOW!
Disadvantages: Like all 30 year old cars, servicing and maintenance is essential. Never neglect a Stag.

...at considerable cost and Triumph corporate pride meant the Rover 3.5 V8 was never going to be installed under the bonnet. Even if the decision to use the (ex-Buick) Rover had been forced on Triumph, it is unlikely that enough engines (around 12,000 a year estimated) would have been available with production being fully allocated to Rover sedans, Range Rovers, Land Rovers and a number of specialists car builders taking the overflow capacity. Triumph reacted by upping capacity to 3 litres, ditching the Lucas injection and using inferior quality head gaskets because they were cheaper. This last decision was to be its death knell. Amidst the vast variation of parts used in common with its siblings and Leyland cousins, quality was not always what it should have been. This all sounds like a recipe for a disaster - and it was in the 1970s. Today the Triumph...

1969 - Great Year For Cars - Triumph GT6 Mark One

Advantages: Classic British Sports Car, Beautiful Shape
Disadvantages: It Has 2600 Electrical Points, Runs On 4* Petrol

...Now, I am well aware that this is a review of a car that was built and commissioned well before I was born. In fact, 22 years before I was born. Why am I reviewing it? Firstly, because I can and secondly, because I am actually lucky enough to own one. I am also writing this review in an entirely different style to how car reviews should be written, but then, this is an entirely different car! Her name is Griselda, mainly because I wasn't allowed to call her Zelda, and she is a 1969 Triumph GT6 Mark One, and she lives quite comfortably in the garage of my parents house in Gloucester. Her history is quite chequered... She was built and bought in 1969 and driven for a mere 26000 miles before being dumped in a garage in Cheltenham to gather rust for 16 years before The Pa and I decided that we would buy her. We paid a princely sum...
