Trivial Pursuit - a bit pointless! (Trivial Pursuit (XBox 360))

Advantages: Can play anytime, can`t lose pieces, playable a few times
Disadvantages: No online, bad sound, graphics, lazy, cash in

...Seeing this in a very good offer from a shop in a bundle I decided to buy with the excellent Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box and Connect 4 for less than £15! Getting this I thought it would be quite bad and I was mainly correct. Trivial Pursuit on the Xbox 360 has the same general idea as the traditional board game. You have the board with the different coloured squares and then special squares for each colour which if answered correctly give you a wedge. The first person to get all the wedges from all the chosen categories is the winner. The video game version is worse than the board game version which did not surprise me as I do think that board games shouldn`t be changed to video games as they were designed to played on a board and think that they are a way for old games to make it bit more money. Trivial Pursuit PS3: Classic and fun!

Advantages: 3 modes of play. Easy to use. Great twist on a timeless classic. FUN
Disadvantages: narration can be repetative. No online gameing mode.

In The Pursuit For Trivia

...Trivial Pursuit is one of my favourite board games, so I was really pleased to receive the CD-Rom as a present about a year ago. Unfortunately, it does not have the longevity of the board game. The graphics are excellent, with the virtual board looking very much like the real one, along with the little coloured wedges. You can choose to play the classic game - where you play against others or just against the computer - or the fast-paced game, where the computer asks you questions, without bothering to go round the board. If you answer a question right, you get the wedge of that colour question. So, the game is quite straight-forward and also easy to install, with a simple booklet explaining the details. I have already said the graphics are great and you know it is one of my favourite games, so just what is the problem with it...

Trivial Pursuit - a classic !!

Advantages: lots of variety, never boring, a chance to show off your knowledge !!
Disadvantages: sometimes you just seem to get a run of bad luck :-(

...Trivial Pursuit is a very good board game - one that is suitable for most ages, can be played in teams or as individuals & you actually feel quite good about yourself, when you get the questions right !! It is nice to feel that all that trivia we seem to absorb from school days, the media & tabloid newspapers can actually be useful for something ! There are also various different versions of this game, to suit younger members of the famnily who might not had heard of Marilyn Monroe or Harold Wilson ! For those that don't know, you go around the board answering questions on different subjects, then if you get one right on a certain square, you get a 'cheese' or a 'wedge' to put in your playing piece & you need to get them all to win. It is a very exciting, but also intelligent, game....

Trivial Pursuit 20th - Happy Anniversary

...**Introduction** The original Trivial Pursuit was created by two friends in Montreal in 1979. They were arguing over who was the best board game player and to try and settle this they devised there own. They hooked up with two others and almost sold there underwear to get the money to finance it. They even sold shares to friends and family. They sold 1100 in Canada before taking it to america were they did even worse. Eventually in 1982 it was an overnight success! In 1984 alone it sold over 20 million games. It is now available in 28 countries in 18 different languages. Throughout the history of the game they have tried various different variations. There is the original Genus edition, Kids editions, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, 80's, 90's and even a Post War Baby Boom edition. I think they are on the 6th Genus now...

'Trivial Pursuit Junior!!' - Fun for all!!

Advantages: An educational but fun game for the family!
Disadvantages: Can't be played in half an hour!!

...Having looked at the selection of board games aimed at children around the age of 7 years old - as my son is. I decided upon Trivial Pursuits Junior as an extra present for christmas. Having struggled to find the board game in numerous main toy stores, i finally managed to find one on the Amazon web site. (Just to add, Amazon were great! - delivered quickly even just before the christmas period!). Upon opening the christmas present, as you would axpect from any 7 year old boy, it wasn't the first choice of toy to be played with on christmas day. (Nothing would have competed with his new Millenium Falcon!!) When we decided to play the game, maybe 1 week later, to my surprise, he absolutley loved the game. Trivial Pursuit gave my son the chance to practise his reading and general knowledge skills without him even realising this...

...I must admit, my first memories of playing Trivial Pursuit would be sitting around at Christmas,paired up with one of the oldies and answering questions that were designed for people triple my age or older. However, this Trivial Pursuit is a must buy for those who love the game but desire a more updated approach. Decked out in the 'millenium silver' the questions for this Trivial are not easy but at least I have a realistic chance at answering some of them. The categories have also changed so, when challenging the oldies to a game they have no advantage! Also, there are new touches, such as there are only 5 spaces between each piece of pir so if you throw a six from pie you get on to another one. The throw again squares have also been chnanged so that you get automatically transported to a piece of pie! Definately a game for all!...

...The classic quiz board game Trivial Pursuit is claimed by the Website to be the most popular Trivia Board game in the world, and having googled here and there I can find no evidence to refute their claim. I know that I like the game although sometimes it can be a bit slow. Best played with a wee dram I think. Well the tedium associated with the set up and moving of pieces has been removed by the introduction of a PC version. The software is published by Atari who are perhaps more famous for the great games they brought out in the eighties when electronic gaming was bursting onto the scene. The game play in exactly the same as the board game being that you have to answer questions to move around the board. The board in this case is the large visible circular object which rotates around the centre of the screen once the game...

...I have always been a fan of board games; I have many fond memories of my childhood, huddled around the dining room table playing Cluedo, Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit with my family. Most of which, being the youngest, I lost. My other half, knowing my love for silly and simple games, told me when he had heard Trivial Pursuit was releasing a game on the Xbox. Perfect for me, a chance to redeem myself for all those times I lost in my youth! (Sore loser? Me? Never!) And another fun game to keep me occupied for a while.
