...Troy was a breath-taking film with a brilliant plot (admittedly based on a legend), amazing characters and some amazing special effects. Story The story was well written and believable, however, it is based on a historical legend and is not the work of the makers of the film, so while I liked it, I can't give anybody credit for it. The story was also refreshing in that the good guys lost, which is original. 4/5 Characters/ performances This film had an amazing set of characters portrayed by some truly gifted actors such as Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. There was a nice mix of brave, selfless heroes and some twisted villains. However, the film also impressed me in that it didn't see characters in black and white as many films do and there was good within evil and evil within good. There was also something to look...

'Troy' An epic tale of Greece and Troy

Advantages: Epic storyline, Brad Pitt fans will enjoy!

...Review of ?Troy? 2 Disc Special Edition DVD The DVD I am reviewing the 2 disc special edition of the DVD. The movie was produced in 2004 by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie received mediocre praise from the critics for the retelling of Homer's ?The Iliad?. The storyline is fairly loosely based on The Iliad, and Hollywood has used it's artist license to add to the tale. The Special Edition consists of the 2 discs, one being the actual movie and the other a very interesting mixture of special effect techniques used in the production, an analysis of the battle scenes, a 3D animated guide to Greek myths and a look at the design of the sets used and the comparisons between Greek temples and ruins of the time. ...INTRODUCTION 2004 was a curiously strong year for historical epics. With King Arthur, Troy and Alexander appearing within months of each other there was no lack of enthusiams for fans of this genre, although others may question these big budget conglamorations as being nothing more than the producers wish to ride the post-Lord of the Rings wave. As it was, none of these modern epics managed to pull through the consciousness of the audiences the way The Lord of the Rings did and either were lambasted by all or quietly faded away from memory. ...The story of Troy is a well known one and I think this is one of the better versions out there although by no means the best. The film opens with a few scenes of different characters in the movie as the narrator, who we later learn is Menelaus, tells that what is to follow are the true events surrounding the great Trojan war and the downfall of the mighty city of Troy. We then see a young Cassandra running to her parents King Priam played by John Rhys-Davies and Queen Hecuba played by Maryam D'Abo. The Queen has just given birth to a baby son who has been named Alexandros. However Cassandra warns them that this child will bring about the destruction of Troy unless they kill him. Advantages: Pretty much ever song blows you away, Fall Of Troy at their most raw!

...The Fall Of Troys first album is one which gets better with age. The more you listen to the incredible guitar rifts the more you start to actually hear what the hell he's playing. Once you reach this point, you start loving this band. I'd normally plan my reveiws with the best song, the worst song, and then overall did i like it. However with this album i need about 3 best songs. Rockstar Nailbomb is only 2:03 but it is deffinately one of my favorite, especially when the base comes in about 15 seconds into the song. I Just got this symphony going is has to be the best intro to a song on this, or on any of Fall Of Troys later albums. In my personal opinion i think it starts to go a little mainstream as the song pans out, but the first 30 seconds are just mindboggoling! The Last March of the Ents is one of my favorite guitar rifts...

Advantages: fantasic battle scenes and great to watch
Disadvantages: few bad choices and decisions made by the director

...This film has a certificate 15; this is because of the violence throughout the film and slight nudity. I don?t think that the nudity in it is too bad, but there is a lot of violence involved in the battles so the certificate rating was acceptable. It has a running time of 163 minutes, which is ok if you like fighting but I do think that too much was crammed into this amount of time. The film itself is a tale of love and war in ancient Greece; it came to the screen in all its grandeur in the epic-scale adventure. It is set in 1193 BC in Paris. The main thing you need to know about the film is that Prince of Troy (who was played by Orlando Bloom), fell in love with Helen, who is Queen of Sparta (played by Diane Kruger). ...Troy Greek King Agamemnon has, forcefully, united the tribes of Greece. His brother Menelaus has negotiated an uneasy peace with Troy. But when Spartan Princess Helen cuckolds Menelaus with Trojan Prince Paris, warmongering Agamemnon uses it as an excuse for launching an all out war on Troy. The casting is excellent. All of the actors are the sort capable of brilliance, especially those in the minor roles, such as Peter O?Toole, Brian Cox and Brendan Glesson. But it?s Brad Pitt as warrior Achilles and Eric Bana as Prince Hector who turn in the outstanding performances. I?ve always enjoyed watching Pitt, he?s unpretentious and his style is diverse.
