Advantages: An excellent first fim from Steven Soderbergh.
Disadvantages: Slow paced.

Quietly spoken and beautifully shot, the film is a story of personalities and feelings, and all four characters intertwine and interconnect in a bizarre series of events, culminating in an obvious outcome I felt. Soderbergh's impressive directorial debut shows the peeling away of layers of each character, to reveal their true personalities and the complexities of human nature. Secrets are uncovered and lies exposed amidst a tense drama which is fascinating to watch. Although the film's title suggests sex, there is very little contained within the film. It is more the suggestion that lies are related to sex, and in this films case that is exactly what is entailed. James Spader is brilliant in the part of the Graham. ...1994 saw the combination that made Terminator successful return in True Lies, with director James Cameron pitting Arnold Schwarzenegger as a secret agent in this action comedy that is a sort of take on the James Bond role. The Plot Harry Tasker is a happily married man with wife Helen and daughter Dana. They believe he is a boring computer salesman. In reality, he is a top government secret agent who is used for only the most deadly of mission. Whilst investigating a faction named Crimson Jihad and trying to prevent the smuggling of nuclear warheads into the States, Harry comes across reason to believe Helen is having an affair, and he uses his skills to balance work and home, with hilarious results. ...'Love Songs and Lies' is the tenth book written by Libby Purves, who is perhaps slightly better known as a radio 4 broadcaster and Times columnist. However, in my opinion, she is also a wonderful author, and having read all her books, I feel that they just get better and better. This book was definitely a very enjoyable and absorbing read. 'Love Songs and Lies' is a retrospective novel, written in the first person by 'Sally', who now, well into middle age, is looking back over and reflecting on her somewhat colourful life! She tells of her time as an Oxford student back in the seventies, and in particular of her infatuation with fellow student and housemate Max, who throughout her life has been hugely influential. ...Well I must be Arnold, happy today because ive got an urge to review all his films, I wonder just how far I will really get. Well my previous review was on the box office smash hit Terminator 2: Judgement Day. This review will look at another box office hit by Arnold, however in this film he's human and he's fighting terrorists. Yup you guessed it; this is a review about True Lies. Like most Arnie, films this film has the usual, bad guys, big guns, a lot of ass kicking and the occasional use of humour. ...... Surely love has no boundrys tho? Surely its not an actual object. It is a thing but no object - where does it exsist? So therefore how can there be anything factual about it? So how can it be true? We could fake love, we could lie about love, love could just be a figment of our imaginition surely? Until we in the modern world grasp mind reading I guess it will never be a certain thing. Many people say that you only ever find one true love in your life. I don't know if i agree with this. I'd say I truely love many close people in my family, but I'd say I only have that special love between a male and a female with one person. I would say he was my Truelove. ...“Arnie, in another action film …?!” I here you cry, ”well the idea was good to start of fwith but now it’s old!” you exclaim. Not this time. True lies is an action film spoof a hybrid of action and slapstick derived comedy. Arnie stars as Harry Tasker a secret government agent. His role is so secret in fact that even his family including his wife of fifteen years (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) do not know. The irony is that to everyone else Harry is…well, pretty boring actually. His cover story is that he works for some sort of Computer-IT company and most of his life appears to revolve around what their latest operating system is. ...True Lies is simply a great action film. Yes you could say that certain aspects are stolen from Bond films but who cares because they are done the Schwarzenegger way. By this I mean big budget, big explosions, big guns and sexy women. It is superb seeing Arnold playing a super spy at last and he pulls it off perfectly acting calm and collected is a violently escalating situation. This is one of Arnold and James Camerons best films and I really hope there is going to be a sequel.... Read review
