Hubble Bubble Chocolate Truffle
Review of Avon Chocolate Truffle Bubble Bath by
donnabroom
Advantages: Scrummy Chocolate smell but no guilt.
Disadvantages: A bit pricey when full price.
...* Introduction *
From time to time I get the opportunity to peruse the latest Avon catalogue when I am at my Mum's. Being somewhat of a typical girl, I enjoy this, especially during the run up to Christmas as I can get a fair few presents sorted and delivered to my door. This time round I treated myself to some "Chocolate Truffle" bubble bath.
* The Company *
I am sure most of you will be familiar with Avon Cosmetics. They have been around for many years and their main channel of business is through door-to-door sale; the famous "Avon Ladies". Most of you will be familiar with the phrase, "Avon Calling". There was even an Avon lady in the Tim Burton film Edward Scissor Hands!
For a while Avon had a frumpy image and it was mostly popular with middle aged housewives. Now Avon have smartened up their image with models like Tamsin...

When I picked up the wrong chocolate bar .........
Review of Nestle Aero Chocolate Truffle by
liz1102
Advantages: satisfied a craving
Disadvantages: Kind of sickly, that 'nestle' after-taste
...This is the first food review I've done, so I'm not too sure how well its going to go. While in Sainsbury's earlier this evening I went to chose a chocolate bar. I though I'd picked up the Aero Caramel bar, but seem to have grabbed the Aero Chocolate Truffle one instead. It's probably worth saying that it isn't the same as the bar pictured by Ciao, it's only about half that size. I believe it cost me around 49p, but I'm not entirely sure.
The packaging tells me that it is 'new' and that it is Aero with chocolate truffle (probably should have been a give-away sooner that it wasn't caramel!!) The front of the wrapper also kindly informs me that this bar (no weight is given) has 231 calories, and there is further 'nutritional' information on the back, along with the usual - best before date, Nestle contact details, and 'recycle...

A Truffle in My Bath
Review of Nougat Decadent Bath Truffles x5 by
just.bcoz
Advantages: Smells great, moisturises, softens, shimmer effect on your skin
Disadvantages: expensive (£24 for 5 X17g truffles) You cant eat them
...are round and slightly bigger than a Ferrero Rocher chocolate; they have a rough appearance and I think that the cream coloured ones look like those sponge snowball cakes which are covered in icing and desiccated coconut. I was expecting the truffles to feel quite hard like a bath bomb, but they feel quite soft like soap. The truffles have shimmer particles mixed through them which dissolve in the bath and leave a slightly shimmered appearance on your skin. The pink bath truffles have a lilac coloured shimmer through them and the cream coloured truffles have a silvery coloured shimmer mixed through them.
When using the bath truffles you can either use a full one or half of one; just what ever you prefer. I just use half of a truffle because it is just the same as using a full one and it means that the truffles last me longer and I don...

Alcohol Truffles
Review of Thorntons Alcohol Truffle Selection by
sottovoce82
Advantages: Cannot be eaten all at once, I think this is good
Disadvantages: Nothing, it's chocolate
...Alcohol Truffles Selection
From
Thorntons
As I mentioned in my review of thorntons.co.uk, there's a Thorntons store near where I live and I visit it frequently when I want to buy an item or two and not a big present. Last time I bought Alcohol Truffles Selection which includes three kinds: champagne, whisky, and rum. The box is small and beige in colour, and it contains two small bags; eight truffles in each of them, and they are 200g all in all. The expiry date and ingredients can be found on the bottom of the box. It costs £6.25.
The chocolates are round in shape, of course, and not wrapped individually. The chocolate filling with alcohol is creamy and soft, and the outer chocolate shell that envelopes it is somewhat thick and this makes it a bit hard, but not too much; nothing to worry about. The whisky truffle can...

Truffle? Yes. Cake? No. Lindt? Questionable.
Review of Lindt Truffle Cake by
zoe_page
Advantages: Virtually none, bar the 'new and never tried' angle
Disadvantages: Um, gross. Truly.
...I recently described my newly begun love affair with a product in the Lindt Petits Desserts range, their Tarte Citron Meringue. It is so lovely words cannot do it justice, and it fully deserved the 5 star rating I bestowed upon it.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for its sister petit dessert, 'Lindt Truffle Cake'.
Always one to be on the look out for new things, I spotted this in Bulgaria on my first day and managed to avoid buying it for a week (telling myself it would melt if I bought it too long before our return, but really suspecting that if I'd got it any earlier it wouldn't have even made it into the suitcase and would instead be the culprit for the new chocolate stains on my bikini). I managed to resist, brought it home and popped it in the fridge for a few days to keep it out of view. Then, suspense having suitably...

Prize winning chocolates........
Review of Thorntons Continental Boxed Chocolates by
babajane32
Advantages: Chocolate chocolate and lovely chocolate
Disadvantages: calories calories and more horrible calories
...of choice ,but the choice is also quite varied.
~ ~ Alpini ~ ~
*Hazelnut and almond praline covered in milk chocolate, and rolled in icing sugar*
Biting into the smooth milk chocolate exterior with it’s icing sugar dusting I find a soft but dense truffle like center imbedded with tiny pieces of almost crystallized hazelnut.Savouring quite a delicate flavour, I'm pleased to find that it's slightly less "than melt in your mouth" and the taste is there for just a bit longer.
~ ~ Apricot Parfait ~ ~
*Sun-dried apricot pieces blended in a smooth parfait, sprinkled with golden almonds*
A dark chocolate coating combined with crunchy pieces of roasted almonds gives way to a rich middle littered with fragments of flavorful apricot. I can only describe the consistency as very soft and nougat like. The apricot is lightly tastable without...

A Monster 'Bar' of Lindor Truffle just for Deano
Review of Lindt Lindor Truffle by
mattygroves
Advantages: Chocolate, real chocolate. Need I say more...
Disadvantages: I'm sure it's not cheap; it is quite sweet so not for excessive consumption. A real bummer to get back in the box.
...Well, here I am, sitting at work. I’ve just finished lunch – and I feel rather full. But Deano, ol’ buddy, has started a challenge. One with a point (apart from the insult bit, which really is pointless…). Never one to take the easy way out, here I sit with an unopened, untried bar of LINDT LINDOR – truffles in a bar (OK, I know that everyone else here has used this category for the little truffles you give to grandma, but like I said, never take the easy way out).
(BUT SEE BELOW – APPEARANCES CAN BE DECEIVING!)
This particular bar was given to me from ‘Santa’. OK, it was given to me by my sister-in-law’s husband’s mother (got that?)
It’s been resting unsampled in my fridge since the Saturday after Christmas – and this challenge is just the excuse I...

Dull Chocolate? Hard to believe isn't it!
Review of Elizabeth Shaw Irish Cream Truffles by
treley
Advantages: Shiney Wrappers for the cat to play with.
Disadvantages: No variety, little taste, no sign of Irish cream!
...I suppose it is because of the after Christmas dieting spree that Tesco decided to reduce some of their boxed chocolates down to half price, this particular box being just £1.79. Or may be it was just because nobody liked them!
I was given this box of Irish cream Truffles as part of my 21st birthday present from some friends... and they were, well quite dull (the | | |
