The Truth Is Never Pretty

The truth is ugly

Advantages: Brilliant chemisty between brilliant actors, hilarious
Disadvantages: May be too crude for some

...together - at the beginning of the film Abby dislikes Mike and her performance showed real disgust and loathing. But, as they become closer, their friendship blossoms and subtle flirting begins, you start to see real feelings for each other creeping in. Admittedly, the film is a little predictable and anyone with half a brain can see that something will end up happening between Abby and Mike, but this doesn't make it any less enjoyable. It is full of witty humour and so many things had me laughing out loud, mostly coming from the straight-talking Mike. It may be a little crude for those who are quite prudish as it contains lots of blunt and sexually explicit conversations about male and female feelings and actions towards the opposite sex but it is only speaking the truth which, as it says in the title, is ugly. Advantages: Detached from the Discworld series, great piece of satirical writing.
Disadvantages: Central characters are inherently unlikeable.

Plain Truth

Advantages: Enjoyable read, insight into the Amish life

Calvin Klein call this a very addictive and unique signature with a fresh oriental fragrance. Calvin Klein the designer first came into the forefront of perfume when he released CK one, the fragrance for both men and women. I used this fragrance off and on and found it to have quite strong, masculine smell. Euphoria for Men was released in 2006. Like most mens fragrances this has quite a musky smell to it but is also quite spicy and strong. ...I have read quite a few of Jodi Picoult's novels before, but having just finished 'Plain Truth' I feel that this was the most moving and compelling by far. In 'Plain Truth' we are taken right into the heart of the Amish (Plain) Community in America, where an eighteen year old girl, katie Fisher, is accused of murdering her new born baby. Katie claims not to remember what happened on July 10th, when in the middle of the night in the family barn she gave birth silently and secretly, only later, after falling asleep, to discover that her newborn has died. Once the baby's body is discovered, there is a police investigation and Katie stands accused of first degree murder. Naked Truths is the follow on from Jo Carnegie's debut novel Country Pursuits. I haven't read this yet, although I do have a copy of it on my bookshelf upstairs, so I was worried about whether I would be able to get into this having not known any of the back story or what happened in the first book. I needn't have worried though, because the book was so well written and enjoyable I felt like I hadn't missed anything and got straight into the characters without a hitch. Anything related to Country Pursuits was well explained, so this book is perfect as both a follow on for those who know the characters but it works equally well as a stand alone book too which is great! The whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Advantages: Thrilling book about a murder in an Amish town
Disadvantages: May be upsetting

The ladies arrived in the town in a horse and buggy, I was careful not to photograph them as they don?t believe in taking photographs as that is against what it says in the Bible. These people are God-fearing and live a simple life. They join together to make quilts for which they are famous and the men will ?raise a barn? together, they are very sociable within their group. Jodi Picoult has written several books and My sister?s keeper was awarded the Richard and Judy bestseller award. Plain Truth has 448 pages and also an excerpt from My sister's keeper, it costs £6.99 or even less on Amazon £5.29 or under £2 used or look out for it in charity shops, or your local library....
